I'm a designer and an educator.

I'm a multitasking person, and I push my students

to fly through a very creative, multitasking design process.

But how efficient is, really, this multitasking?

Let's consider for a while the option of monotasking.

A couple of examples.

Look at that.

ይሄን ተመልከቱ

This is my multitasking activity result. (Laughter)

በአንዴ ብዙ ላርግ ስል የፈጠርኩት ነው (ሳቅ)

So trying to cook, answering the phone, writing SMS,

ስልክ ይዤ ሳበስል እና የፅሁፍ መልክት ሳዘጋጅ

and maybe uploading some pictures

about this awesome barbecue.

ስለዚ ባርቢኪው

So someone tells us the story about supertaskers,

አንድ ሰው ስለ ድርጊተ ብዙ ሰዎች ታሪክ ነበረው

so this two percent of people who are able

እነዚ ሁለት ከመቶ የሚሆኑት

to control multitasking environment.

በአንዴ ብዙ መስራትን መቆጣጠር ይችላሉ

But what about ourselves, and what about our reality?

እኛስ ግን? እውነታችንስ?

When's the last time you really enjoyed

መቼ ነው ከልብ ያጣጣማችሁት?

just the voice of your friend?

የጓደኛችሁን ድምጽ ብቻ?

So this is a project I'm working on,

እኔ የምሰራው ፕሮጀክት ይሄ ነው

and this is a series of front covers

ተከታታይ የፊትለፊት ሽፋን ነው

to downgrade our super, hyper —

ከልክ ያለፈውን ለማክሸፍ

(Laughter) (Applause)

(ሳቅ) (ጭብጨባ)

to downgrade our super, hyper-mobile phones

ከልክ ያለፈውን ተንቀሳቃሽ ስልካችንን ለማክሸፍ

into the essence of their function.

ወደ መሠረታዊ ጥቅሙ ለመመለስ

Another example: Have you ever been to Venice?

ሌላ ምሳሌ፤ ቬኒስ ሄዳቹ ታቃላችሁ?

How beautiful it is to lose ourselves in these little streets

በነዚ ትናንሽ መንገዶች ስንጠፋ እንዴት ደስ ይላል

on the island.

በደሴቱ ላይ የሚገኙት

But our multitasking reality is pretty different,

በአንዴ ብዙ እናርግ የምንለው ነገር ግን የተለየ ያረገዋል

and full of tons of information.

እልፍ አእላፍ መረጃዎች መፈጠርን ጨምሮ

So what about something like that

እንደዚ ቢሆንስ

to rediscover our sense of adventure?

አሳደን የማግኘት ስሜታችንን መልሰን መጎናፀፍ

I know that it could sound pretty weird to speak about mono

ተራ በተራ እንስራ ስል ትንሽ ግራ ሊመስል ይችላል

when the number of possibilities is so huge,

በተለይ ብዙ አማራጮች ሲኖሩን

but I push you to consider the option of

ግን አንድ አማራጭ ላይ ልውሰዳቹ

focusing on just one task,

አንድ ስራ ላይ ብቻ ማተኮር

or maybe turning your digital senses totally off.

ምንአልባትም የድረ ገጽ መረጃን በሙሉ መቀነስ

So nowadays, everyone could produce his mono product.

በአሁኑ ሰዓት ሁሉም አንድ ወጥ ምርት ማምረት ይችላል

Why not? So find your monotask spot

ለምን አይሆንም? ትኩረት ሊሰጡት የሚችሉትን ቦታ ይፈልጉ

within the multitasking world.

በዚህ አማራጭ በበዛበት ዓለም
