Women are not making it to the top of any profession

The numbers tell the story quite clearly.

190 heads of state -- nine are women.

which is that women face harder choices

A recent study in the U.S. showed that, of married senior managers,

I want to start out by saying, I talk about this --

In the high-income part of our workforce,

Now people talk about this a lot,

I want to talk about none of that today,

Now, at the outset, I want to be very clear

I left San Francisco, where I live, on Monday,

This is hard. I feel guilty sometimes.

My talk today is about what the messages are

The problem with these stories is that they show what the data shows:

women systematically underestimate their own abilities.

If you test men and women,

Women do not negotiate for themselves in the workforce.

A study in the last two years

လွန်ခဲ့တဲ့နှစ်နှစ်ကလုပ်ခဲ့တဲ့ ကောလိပ်ကထွက်လာပြီး

of people entering the workforce out of college

အလုပ်ခွင်ဝင်ကြတဲ့လူတွေနဲ့ပတ်သက်ပြီးလေ့လာချက်တစ်ခုက

showed that 57 percent of boys entering, or men, I guess,

ပြသခဲ့တာက ဝင်လာတဲ့ယောက်ျားလေးတွေ ဒါမှမဟုတ်

ကျွန်မထင်တယ် အမျိုးသားတွေရဲ့ ၅၇ ရာခိုင်နှုန်းက

are negotiating their first salary,

and only seven percent of women.

And most importantly,

men attribute their success to themselves,

and women attribute it to other external factors.

If you ask men why they did a good job,

they'll say, "I'm awesome.

သူတို့က "ကျွန်တော်ကတော်တယ်လေ။ အသိသာကြီးကို။

Obviously. Why are you even asking?"

If you ask women why they did a good job,

what they'll say is someone helped them,

they got lucky, they worked really hard.

Why does this matter?

ဒါကဘာလို့အရေးကြီးတာလဲ

Boy, it matters a lot.

အမယ်လေး ဒါအရမ်းကိုအရေးကြီးတာပေါ့

Because no one gets to the corner office

ဘာလို့လဲဆိုတော့ ဘယ်သူမှ စားပွဲမှာမထိုင်ဘဲ

by sitting on the side, not at the table,

ဘေးခြမ်းမှာထိုင်နေပြီး ထောင့်ရုံးခန်း ( အရာရှိနေရာ ) ကိုရမှာမဟုတ်ပါဘူး

and no one gets the promotion

ကိုယ့်ကိုယ်ကို အောင်မြင်မှုနဲ့ထိုက်တန်တယ်လို့မယူဆရင်

if they don't think they deserve their success,

ဒါမှမဟုတ် ကိုယ်ပိုင်အောင်မြင်မှုကိုနားမလည်ရင်

or they don't even understand their own success.

ဘယ်သူမှ ရာထူးတိုးခြင်းဆိုတာမျိုးရလာမှာမဟုတ်ပါဘူး

အဖြေကလွယ်မယ်သာဆိုရင် ကောင်းမှာပဲရှင်

I wish the answer were easy.

I wish I could go tell all the young women I work for,

ကျွန်မအလုပ်လုပ်ပေးနေတဲ့ အမျိုးသမီးတွေအားလုံး

ဒီအံ့ဖွယ်မိန်းမသားတွေဆီကို သွားပြီးပြောလို့ရရင်သိပ်ကောင်းမှာပဲရှင်

these fabulous women,

"Believe in yourself and negotiate for yourself.

"ကိုယ့်ကိုယ်ကို ယုံကြည်ပါ။ ကိုယ်တိုင်အတွက်ညှိနှိုင်းပါ။

Own your own success."

ကိုယ်ပိုင်အောင်မြင်မှုကို ကိုယ်တိုင်ထိန်းသိမ်းထားပါ" လို့ပေါ့ရှင့်

I wish I could tell that to my daughter.

ဒါကို ကျွန်မသမီးကိုပြောပြနိုင်ရင်သိပ်ကောင်းမှာပါပဲ

But it's not that simple.

ဒါပေမဲ့ ဒါကဒီလောက်မရိုးရှင်းပါဘူး

Because what the data shows, above all else, is one thing,

which is that success and likeability are positively correlated for men

and negatively correlated for women.

And everyone's nodding, because we all know this to be true.

There's a really good study that shows this really well.

There's a famous Harvard Business School study

ဟေဒီရွိင်ဇန်ဆိုတဲ့ အမျိုးသမီး နဲ့ပတ်သက်ပြီး ထင်ရှားလှတဲ့

on a woman named Heidi Roizen.

ဟားဗတ်စီးပွားရေးတက္ကသိုလ် လေ့လာချက်တစ်ခုရှိပါတယ်

And she's an operator in a company in Silicon Valley,

သူက ဆီလီကွန်တောင်ကြားက ကုမ္ပဏီတစ်ခုမှာ

အော်ပရေတာတစ်ယောက်ပါ

and she uses her contacts

သူ့မှာရှိတဲ့အဆက်အသွယ်တွေကို သုံးပြီး

to become a very successful venture capitalist.

In 2002 -- not so long ago --

a professor who was then at Columbia University

took that case and made it [Howard] Roizen.

And he gave the case out, both of them, to two groups of students.

He changed exactly one word:

But that one word made a really big difference.

He then surveyed the students,

and the good news was the students, both men and women,

thought Heidi and Howard were equally competent,

and that's good.

The bad news was that everyone liked Howard.

He's a great guy. You want to work for him.

You want to spend the day fishing with him.

But Heidi? Not so sure.

She's a little out for herself. She's a little political.

You're not sure you'd want to work for her.

This is the complication.

We have to tell our daughters and our colleagues,

we have to tell ourselves to believe we got the A,

ကျွန်မတို့ကိုယ်တိုင်ကိုပြောရမှာက ကျွန်မတို့ကိုယ်တိုင် အေအဆင့် ရခဲ့တယ်ဆိုတာယုံကြည်ဖို့

ရာထူးတိုးတက်ဖို့အတွက် ဦးတည်ကြိုးစားဖို့

to reach for the promotion, to sit at the table,

စားပွဲမှာ ထိုင်ဖို့ ဆိုတာပါပဲ

and we have to do it in a world

ပြီးတော့ ကျွန်မတို့က ဒီလိုလုပ်နိုင်ဖို့ စတေးမှုတွေ

where, for them, there are sacrifices they will make for that,

လုပ်ရတဲ့ ကမ္ဘာမှာ လုပ်ကြရမှာပါ

even though for their brothers, there are not.

သူတို့ရဲ့ အစ်ကိုမောင်တွေမှာတော့ စတေးမှုတွေဆိုတာမရှိပေမဲ့လည်းပေါ့ရှင်

The saddest thing about all of this is that it's really hard to remember this.

And I'm about to tell a story which is truly embarrassing for me,

but I think important.

I gave this talk at Facebook not so long ago

to about 100 employees,

ဖေ့ဘွတ်ခ်မှာ ဝန်ထမ်းပေါင်း ၁၀၀ ကျော်ကိုပေးခဲ့ပါတယ်

and a couple hours later, there was a young woman who works there

အမျိုးသမီးငယ်တစ်ယောက်က ကျွန်မအလုပ်စားပွဲအပြင်ဘက်မှာ ထိုင်ပြီး

sitting outside my little desk, and she wanted to talk to me.

ကျွန်မကို စကားပြောချင်နေပါတယ်

I said, okay, and she sat down, and we talked.

ကျွန်မက ကောင်းပါပြီ ဆိုပြီးထိုင်ချကာ ကျွန်မတို့စကားပြောကြပါတယ်

And she said, "I learned something today.

သူပြောလာတာက "ကျွန်မဒီနေ့ တစ်ခုနားလည်လိုက်တယ်

I learned that I need to keep my hand up."

လက်ကိုအမြဲမြှောက်ထားရမယ်လို့ ကျွန်မနားလည်လိုက်တယ်ရှင်"တဲ့

ကျွန်မက "ရှင်ဘာကိုဆိုလိုတာလဲ" လို့မေးလိုက်ပါတယ်

"What do you mean?"

She said, "You're giving this talk,

သူကပြောလိုက်တာက "ဒီလိုလေ ရှင်ဟောပြောနေတုန်း

and you said you would take two more questions.

မေးခွန်းနှစ်ခုထပ်ဖြေမယ်လို့ပြောတော့ ကျွန်မက အခြားသူတွေအများကြီးနဲ့အတူ

I had my hand up with many other people,

လက်မြှောက်လိုက်ပါတယ် ရှင်နောက်ထပ်မေးခွန်းနှစ်ခုကိုဖြေပါတယ်

and you took two more questions.

ကျွန်မကလက်ချလိုက်ပါတယ် ပြီးတော့အခြားအမျိုးသမီးတွေအားလုံးလည်း လက်တွေချလိုက်ပါတယ်

I put my hand down, and I noticed all the women did the same,

ပြီးတော့ နောက်ထပ်မေးခွန်းတွေထပ်ဖြေပါသေးတယ်

and then you took more questions,

အမျိုးသားတွေဆီကပဲလေ

only from the men."

ကျွန်မကိုယ်ကျွန်မတွေးမိပါတယ်

And I thought to myself,

"Wow, if it's me -- who cares about this, obviously --

အမယ်လေး ဒီဟောပြောချက်ကိုပို့ချနေတဲ့ကျွန်မက

giving this talk --

ဘယ်သူမှဂရုမစိုက်မှန်းတော့ အသိသာကြီးဆိုပေမဲ့

and during this talk, I can't even notice that the men's hands are still raised,

ဟောပြောနေတုန်းမှာ အမျိုးသားတွေရဲ့လက်တွေမြှောက်ထားဆဲ

အမျိုးသမီးတွေရဲ့လက်တွေကမြှောက်ထားဆဲဆိုတာကိုတောင်

and the women's hands are still raised,

ကျွန်မသတိမပြုနိုင်ပါဘူး

how good are we

ကုမ္ပဏီတွေရဲ့ အဖွဲ့အစည်းတွေရဲ့ စီမံခန့်ခွဲသူတွေအနေနဲ့

as managers of our companies and our organizations

ကျွန်မတို့ဟာ အမျိုးသားတွေဟာ အမျိုးသမီးတွေထက်

at seeing that the men are reaching for opportunities

ပိုပြီးအခွင့်အရေးဆီကို လက်လှမ်းနေတယ်ဆိုတာကို မြင်တတ်တဲ့နေရာမှာ

more than women?"

ဘယ်လောက်ထိတော်ကြပါသလဲ

We've got to get women to sit at the table.

အမျိုးသမီးတွေကို စားပွဲမှာထိုင်လာအောင်လုပ်ရပါမယ်

Make your partner a real partner.

I've become convinced that we've made more progress in the workforce

than we have in the home.

The data shows this very clearly.

If a woman and a man work full-time and have a child,

တကယ်လို့သာ မိန်းမတစ်ဦးနဲ့ ယောက်ျားတစ်ဦးအချိန်ပြည့်အလုပ်လုပ်ကြပြီး

ကလေးတစ်ယောက်ရှိတယ်ဆိုရင်

the woman does twice the amount of housework the man does,

မိန်းမဟာ အိမ်မှုကိစ္စကို ယောက်ျားလုပ်တာရဲ့နှစ်ဆလုပ်ပါတယ်

and the woman does three times the amount of childcare the man does.

ပြီးတော့ မိန်းမက ကလေးထိန်းတဲ့အလုပ်ကို

ယောက်ျားလုပ်တာရဲ့ သုံးဆလုပ်ပါတယ်

So she's got three jobs or two jobs, and he's got one.

ဒီတော့ မိန်းမက အလုပ်နှစ်မျိုး သုံးမျိုးလောက်ရှိနေပြီး

ယောက်ျားကတော့ တစ်ခုပဲရှိပါတယ်

Who do you think drops out when someone needs to be home more?

တစ်ယောက်ယောက်အိမ်မှာပိုနေဖို့လိုလာတဲ့အခါ ဘယ်သူအလုပ်ထွက်မယ်လို့ထင်ပါသလဲရှင်

ဒါရဲ့ အကြောင်းရင်းတွေက တော်တော်လေးရှုပ်ထွေးပါတယ်

The causes of this are really complicated, and I don't have time to go into them.

အဲဒီအကြောင်းရင်းတွေထိ ပြောဖို့တော့ ကျွန်မအချိန်မရပါဘူးရှင့်

And I don't think Sunday football-watching and general laziness is the cause.

တနင်္ဂနွေ ဘောလုံးပွဲကြည့်တာနဲ့

ယေဘုယျအပျင်းရောဂါက အကြောင်းရင်းလို့တော့ ကျွန်မမထင်ပါဘူး

I think the cause is more complicated.

ကျွန်မကတော့ အကြောင်းရင်းကဒီထက်ပိုပြီးရှုပ်ထွေးတယ်လို့ထင်ပါတယ်

လူ့အဖွဲ့အစည်းတစ်ခုအနေနဲ့ ကျွန်မတို့က

I think, as a society,

we put more pressure on our boys to succeed

မိန်းကလေးတွေထက်ပိုပြီး ယောက်ျားလေးတွေအပေါ်မှာ

than we do on our girls.

အောင်မြင်ဖို့ဖိအားပေးကြတယ်လို့ ကျွန်မထင်ပါတယ်

I know men that stay home

အလုပ်ရှိတဲ့မိန်းမတွေကို ကူညီဖို့အတွက်

and work in the home to support wives with careers,

အိမ်မှာ အလုပ်လုပ်ကြတဲ့အမျိုးသားတွေကိုသိပါတယ်

ဒါက မလွယ်ပါဘူး

and it's hard.

When I go to the Mommy-and-Me stuff and I see the father there,

ကျွန်မ အမေတွေသမီးတွေ ကစားကြတာမျိုးတွေဆီရောက်လို့

ကလေးအဖေတစ်ယောက်ကိုတွေ့ရင်

I notice that the other mommies don't play with him.

တခြားကလေးအမေတွေက

သူနဲ့မကစားကြတာကို သတိထားမိတယ်ရှင့်

And that's a problem,

ဒါကပြဿနာပါပဲ

because we have to make it as important a job,

ဘာလို့လဲဆိုတော့ အိမ်မှုကိစ္စကို အရေးကြီးတဲ့အလုပ်တစ်ခုဖြစ်အောင်လုပ်ဖို့တာကြောင့်ပါ

because it's the hardest job in the world to work inside the home,

for people of both genders,

if we're going to even things out and let women stay in the workforce.

Studies show that households with equal earning

လေ့လာချက်တွေကဖော်ပြတာကတော့ သာတူညီသောဝင်ငွေနဲ့

and equal responsibility

သာတူညီသောတာဝန်ယူမှု ရှိတဲ့အိမ်ထောင်စုတွေက ကွာရှင်းတာက

also have half the divorce rate.

ကွာရှင်းနှုန်းရဲ့ တစ်ဝက်သာ ပဲရှိပါတယ်

And if that wasn't good enough motivation for everyone out there,

ဒါက ရှိသမျှလူအားလုံးအတွက်လုံလောက်တဲ့ လှုံ့ဆော်တိုက်တွန်းမှုမဟုတ်သေးဘူးဆိုရင်လည်း

they also have more --

အဲဒီအိမ်ထောင်စုတွေမှာ ပိုပြီးတော့

how shall I say this on this stage?

ဒါကို စင်ပေါ်မှာ ကျွန်မဘယ်လိုပြောရပါ့မလဲ

They know each other more in the biblical sense as well.

သူတို့တွေက မောင်နှံရေးရာကိစ္စမှာလည်း ပိုပြီးတော့ နားလည်မှုရှိကြတယ်တဲ့ရှင့်

I think there's a really deep irony

အမျိုးသမီးလုပ်တတ်တဲ့ လုပ်ရပ်တွေမှာ

to the fact that actions women are taking --

တကယ်ကိုဆန့်ကျင်ဘက်ဝိရောဓိဖြစ်မှုရှိနေတယ်လို့ ကျွန်မထင်ပါတယ်

and I see this all the time --

ဒီလိုဖြစ်တာကို ကျွန်မအနေနဲ့တစ်လျှောက်လုံးမြင်နေရပါမယ်

with the objective of staying in the workforce

လုပ်ငန်းခွင်မှာဆက်နေနိုင်ဖို့ ရည်ရွယ်ချက်နဲ့ကိုပဲ

actually lead to their eventually leaving.

တကယ်ကိုအလုပ်ထွက်တဲ့ဆီကို ဦးတည်သွားတတ်ပါတယ်

Here's what happens:

ဖြစ်တတ်က ဒီလိုပါ ကျွန်မတို့အားလုံးအလုပ်များကြပါတယ်

We're all busy. Everyone's busy. A woman's busy.

လူတိုင်းအလုပ်များကြပါတယ် အမျိုးသမီးတစ်ဦးကလည်းအလုပ်များပါတယ်

And she starts thinking about having a child,

သူကနေ ကလေးတစ်ယောက်ယူဖို့စစဉ်းစားလာပါတယ်

and from the moment she starts thinking about having a child,

သူကနေ ကလေးတစ်ယောက်ယူဖို့စစဉ်းစားလာတာနဲ့ တစ်ပြိုင်နက်

she starts thinking about making room for that child.

သူက အဲဒီကလေးအတွက် နေရာပေးဖို့ စပြီး စဉ်းစားလာပါတော့တယ်

"ငါလုပ်နေတဲ့ အခြားအရာတွေအားလုံးနဲ့ လိုက်လျောညီထွေဖြစ်အောင် ဒါကိုဘယ်လိုလုပ်ရပါ့မလဲ" ပေါ့

"How am I going to fit this into everything else I'm doing?"

And literally from that moment,

တကယ်ကို အဲဒီအခိုက်အတန့်ကနေစတင်လို့

သူမအနေနဲ့ လက်မထောင်တော့ပါဘူး

she doesn't raise her hand anymore,

she doesn't look for a promotion, she doesn't take on the new project,

ရာထူးတိုးမမျှော်တော့ပါဘူး စီမံကိန်းအသစ်တစ်ခုကို တာဝန်မယူတော့ပါဘူး

she doesn't say, "Me. I want to do that."

"ကျွန်မလုပ်ချင်ပါတယ်" လို့မပြောတော့ပါဘူး

She starts leaning back.

သူက နောက်ကိုဆုတ်နေတတ်လာပါတယ်

The problem is that --

ပြဿနာကတော့

let's say she got pregnant that day, that day --

အဲဒီနေ့မှာ အဲဒီနေ့မှာ သူကိုယ်ဝန်ရှိတယ်ပဲထားပါတော့

nine months of pregnancy, three months of maternity leave,

ကိုးလကိုယ်ဝန်ဆောင် မီးဖွားခွင့်သုံးလ

six months to catch your breath --

ပုံမှန်အနေအထားပြန်ရောက်ဖို့ ခြောက်လ

Fast-forward two years,

မြန်မြန်ဆန်ဆန်ကုန်သွားတဲ့ နှစ်နှစ်

more often -- and as I've seen it --

ကျွန်မမြင်ဖူးသလိုကတော့ ပိုပြီးမကြာခဏဆိုသလိုကို

women start thinking about this way earlier --

အမျိုးသမီးတွေက ဒီကိစ္စကိုသိပ်ကို အစောကြီးစစဉ်းစားကြပါတယ်

when they get engaged, or married,

သူတို့ဘယ်တော့စေ့စပ်မယ် ဘယ်တော့လက်ထပ်မယ်

when they start thinking about having a child,

အချိန်ကြာကြီးလိုတဲ့ ဘယ်တော့ကလေးယူဖို့စစဉ်းစားကြမယ်ဆိုတာမျိုးတွေပေါ့

which can take a long time.

ဒီကိစ္စနဲ့ပတ်သက်ပြီး အမျိုးသမီးတစ်ဦးက ကျွန်မဆီရောက်လာပါတယ်

One woman came to see me about this.

ကျွန်မကသူကိုကြည့်လိုက်မိသလိုရှိတော့ -- သူက နည်းနည်းငယ်တဲ့ပုံပါရှင်

She looked a little young.

And I said, "So are you and your husband thinking about having a baby?"

ကျွန်မက "ဒီတော့ ရှင်နဲ့ရှင်အမျိုးသားတို့က ကလေးယူဖို့စဉ်းစားနေတာပေါ့" လို့မေးလိုက်ပါတယ်

သူကပြောလိုက်တာက "အိုမဟုတ်ပါဘူး ကျွန်မကအိမ်ထောင်မရှိပါဘူး" တဲ့

And she said, "Oh no, I'm not married."

She didn't even have a boyfriend.

သူက ရည်းစားတောင်မရှိပါဘူး

(Laughter)

I said, "You're thinking about this just way too early."

ကျွန်မက "ရှင် ကဒီကိစ္စကို အရမ်းကို အစောကြီးစဉ်းစားနေတာပဲရှင့်"

လို့ကျွန်မကပြောလိုက်ပါတယ်

But the point is that what happens

ပြောချင်တာက မသိမသာ နောက်ဆုတ်လာလိုက်တဲ့အချိန်မှာ

once you start kind of quietly leaning back?

ဘာဖြစ်လာသလဲဆိုတာပါ

Everyone who's been through this --

ဒါမျိုးကို လူတိုင်းကြုံဖူးကြပါတယ်

and I'm here to tell you, once you have a child at home,

ကျွန်မဒီမှာပြောချင်တာက အိမ်မှာ ကလေးရှိလာပြီဆိုတာနဲ့

your job better be really good to go back,

ကိုယ့်အလုပ်ဟာ ပြန်သွားချင်လောက်အောင် ကောင်းနေဖို့လိုပါတယ်

because it's hard to leave that kid at home.

အကြောင်းက ကလေးကိုအိမ်မှာ ထားခဲ့ဖို့ဆိုတာ မလွယ်လို့ပါ

ကိုယ့်အလုပ်ဟာ စိန်ခေါ်မှုတွေရှိနေဖို့လိုပါတယ်

Your job needs to be challenging.

လုပ်ရတာထိုက်တန်ဖို့လိုပါတယ်

It needs to be rewarding.

You need to feel like you're making a difference.

ကိုယ်က အပြောင်းအလဲဖြစ်အောင်လုပ်နိုင်တယ်လို့ ခံစားမိဖို့လိုပါတယ်

And if two years ago you didn't take a promotion

လွန်ခဲ့တဲ့ နှစ်နှစ်လောက်က ရှင်က ရာထူးတိုးမယူခဲ့ဘဲ

and some guy next to you did,

ရှင့်ဘေးက ယောက်ျားတစ်ယောက်ယောက်က ယူခဲ့မယ်ဆိုရင်

if three years ago you stopped looking for new opportunities,

လွန်ခဲ့တဲ့ သုံးနှစ်တုန်းက ရှင်ဟာ အခွင့်အလမ်းသစ်တွေ

ရှာဖွေတာကိုရပ်လိုက်မယ်ဆိုရင်

you're going to be bored

ရှင်ငြီးငွေ့လာပါလိမ့်မယ်

because you should have kept your foot on the gas pedal.

ဘာလို့လဲဆိုတော့ အောင်မြင်တိုးတက်ဖို့အတွက် ရှင့်ခြေဖဝါးကိုခြေနင်းခုံမှာ အမြဲထားခဲ့ရမှာပါ

Don't leave before you leave.

တကယ်မထွက်ခင် မထွက်လိုက်ပါနဲ့

Stay in.

ဆက်နေပါ

Keep your foot on the gas pedal,

ရှင့်ခြေဖဝါးကိုခြေနင်းခုံမှာ အမြဲထားပါ

until the very day you need to leave to take a break for a child --

ကလေးအတွက် အနားယူဖို့

အလုပ်ထွက်မယ့်အချိန် မရောက်မချင်းပေါ့

and then make your decisions.

အဲဒီနောက်မှသာ ဆုံးဖြတ်ချက်ချပါ

အချိန်မတိုင်ခင် သိပ်အစောကြီးမှာ ကြိုပြီးဆုံးဖြတ်ချက်မချပါနဲ့

Don't make decisions too far in advance,

particularly ones you're not even conscious you're making.

အထူးသဖြင့် ကိုယ့်ဆုံးဖြတ်တာကို ကိုယ်ဘာသာကိုယ်သတိမမူမိချိန်မှာပေါ့

My generation really, sadly,

ဝမ်းနည်းဖို့ကောင်းစွာပဲ ကျွန်မရဲ့မျိုးဆက်မှာတော့

is not going to change the numbers at the top.

ထိပ်ပိုင်းက ကိန်းဂဏန်းတွေကို ပြောင်းနိုင်မှာမဟုတ်ပါဘူး

They're just not moving.

ကိန်းဂဏန်းတွေက လုံးဝကို မပြောင်းလဲပါဘူး

We are not going to get to where 50 percent of the population --

ကျွန်မတို့မျိုးဆက်မှာ လူဦးရေရဲ့ တစ်ဝက်က

in my generation, there will not be 50 percent of [women]

ဘယ်လုပ်ငန်းတစ်ခုရဲ့ ထိပ်ပိုင်းမှာရှိတဲ့

at the top of any industry.

လူတွေရဲ့တစ်ဝက်ကအမျိုးသမီးတွေဖြစ်လာမှာမဟုတ်ပါဘူး

ဒါပေမဲ့ အနာဂတ်မျိုးဆက်တွေကတော့ ဒီလိုဖြစ်လာနိုင်တယ်လို့ ကျွန်မကတော့မျှော်လင့်ချက်အပြည့်အဝရှိပါတယ်

But I'm hopeful that future generations can.

I think a world where half of our countries and our companies

ကျွန်မထင်တယ်ရှင့် ကမ္ဘာပေါ်က တိုင်းပြည်တွေရဲ့တစ်ဝက်နဲ့

ကုမ္ပဏီတွေရဲ့ တစ်ဝက်ကို အမျိုးသမီးတွေအုပ်ချုပ်မယ်ဆိုရင်

ပိုကောင်းတဲ့ကမ္ဘာလောကတစ်ခုဖြစ်လာပါလိမ့်မယ်

were run by women, would be a better world.

It's not just because people would know where the women's bathrooms are,

အမျိုးသမီးသန့်စင်ခန်းတွေ ဘယ်မှာရှိတယ်ဆိုတာ လူတွေသိလာမှာမို့လို့ဆိုရုံတင်မဟုတ်ပါဘူးရှင့်

သိလာရင်အရမ်း ကောင်းမှာဆိုပေမဲ့လည်းပေါ့

even though that would be very helpful.

I think it would be a better world.

ကျွန်မကတော့ ဒီလိုဆိုရင် ပိုကောင်းတဲ့ကမ္ဘာတစ်ခုဖြစ်လာမယ်လို့ထင်ပါတယ်

ကျွန်မမှာ ကလေးနှစ်ယောက်ရှိပါတယ်

I have two children.

I have a five-year-old son and a two-year-old daughter.

ငါးနှစ်အရွယ် သားတစ်ယောက်နဲ့ နှစ်နှစ်အရွယ်သမီးလေး တစ်ယောက်ပါ

I want my son to have a choice

ကျွန်မက ကျွန်မသားကို လုပ်ငန်းခွင်မှာဖြစ်စေ အိမ်တွင်ဖြစ်စေ

to contribute fully in the workforce or at home,

အပြည့်အဝပါဝင်ဆောင်ရွက်ဖို့ ရွေးချယ်ခွင့်ရစေချင်ပြီး

and I want my daughter to have the choice to not just succeed,

ကျွန်မသမီးလေးကိုတော့ အောင်မြင်ဖို့သာမက

သူရဲ့အောင်မြင်မှုတွေအတွက် နှစ်သက်သဘောကျခံရနိုင်ဖို့

but to be liked for her accomplishments.
