Meet Tony. He's my student.

And those three words, Tony's going to remember,

because the next thing he knows, he hears the pop.

What are you going to tell me about right and wrong?"

အမှားနဲ့အမှန်အကြောင်း ကျုပ်ကို ဘာပြောဦးမလို့တုန်းဗျာ။

So I say to Tony,

ဒီတော့ Tony ကို ပြောလိုက်တာက

"Sorry, but it's worse than you think.

စိတ်တော့ မကောင်းဘူးကွာ၊ ဒါကမင်းထင်တာထက် ပိုဆိုးတယ်ကွ။

You think you know right and wrong?

Then can you tell me what wrong is?

No, don't just give me an example.

I want to know about wrongness itself, the idea of wrong.

What is that idea?

အဲဒီအယူအဆကဘာလဲ။

What makes something wrong?

ဘာက တစ်ခုခုကို မှားယွင်းစေတာလဲ။

How do we know that it's wrong? Maybe you and I disagree.

မှားတယ်ဆိုတာကို ဘယ်လိုသိတာလဲ။ ကျုပ်တို့ သဘောကွဲလွဲနိုင်တယ်လေ။

Maybe one of us is wrong about the wrong.

အမှားနဲ့ပတ်သက်ပြီး တစ်ဦးဦးက မှားနိုင်တယ်လေ။

Maybe it's you, maybe it's me -- but we're not here to trade opinions;

မင်းဖြစ်စေ၊ ငါဖြစ်စေ ဒါပေမဲ့ဒီမှာအမြင်တွေ

everyone's got an opinion.

We are here for knowledge.

What Tony sees in that moment is the project of philosophy,

the project that begins in wonder --

အံ့အားသင့်မှုတွေနဲ့ စတင်တဲ့ အစီအစဉ်ပါ၊

what Kant called "admiration and awe

at the starry sky above and the moral law within."

What can creatures like us know of such things?

It is the project that always takes us back to the condition of existence --

ကျုပ်တို့ကို ​တည်ရှိခြင်းရဲ့ အခြေအနေဆီ ပြန်ခေါ်သွားတဲ့ အစီအစဉ်ပါ။

what Heidegger called "the always already there."

It is the project of questioning what we believe and why we believe it --

So Tony starts doing his homework.

in which he argues that the categorical imperative

is perhaps too uncompromising

နေ့စဉ်ဘဝကို ထိခိုက်စတဲ့ ဝိရောဓိတွေကို

to deal with the conflict that affects our everyday

ကိုင်တွယ်ဖို့ အရမ်းတင်းမာနိုင်တယ်ဆိုပြီး

and challenges me to tell him

မေးခွန်းထုတ်ပြီး ဒါနဲ့​ ကိုယ်ကျင့်ပျက်တာ

whether therefore we are condemned to moral failure,

ရှုတ်ချခံရတာလားလို့ ပြောခိုင်းတော့

I say, "I don't know.

မသိဘူးလို့ ကျွန်တော် ပြောလိုက်တယ်။

Let us think about that."

ဒါကို တွေးကြည့်ရအောင်။"

Because in that moment, there's no mark by Tony's name;

အဲဒီခဏမှာ Tony အမည်နဲ့ အမှတ်မရှိတော့ဘူးလေ

it's just the two of us standing there.

ဒါက ကျွန်တော်တို့ ၂ ဦးကအဲဒီမှာ ရပ်နေတာပဲလေ။

It is not professor and convict,

ဒါက ပါမောက္ခနဲ့ ထောင်ထွက်မဟုတ်ဘူး။

it is just two minds ready to do philosophy.

ဒဿနကို ပြုကျင့်ဖို့ စိတ် ၂ ခုပဲလိုတာပါ။

And I say to Tony,

ပြီးတော့ Tony ကို ပြောလိုက်တယ်၊

"Let's do this."

"ဒါကိုလုပ်ရအောင်"
