that is the very mainspring of whatever they do

and whatever they put up with.

And that is that all of us want to be happy.

In this, we are all together.

How we imagine our happiness, that differs from one another,

ပျော်ရွှင်မှုကို ကျွန်တော်တို့ စိတ်ကူးပုံက အခြားသူတွေနဲ့ ကွာခြားနိုင်ပေမဲ့

but it's already a lot that we have all in common,

that we want to be happy.

Now my topic is gratefulness.

What is the connection between happiness and gratefulness?

ပျော်ရွှင်မှုနဲ့ ကျေးဇူးတင်ရှိမှုအကြား ဆက်သွယ်မှုက ဘာလဲ။

Many people would say, well, that's very easy.

လူအများပြောကြမှာက ကောင်းပြီ၊ ဒါက အရမ်းလွယ်ပါတယ်၊

When you are happy, you are grateful.

ပျော်ရွှင်တဲ့အခါ ကျေးဇူးတင်တာပေါ့တဲ့။

But think again.

ဒါပေမဲ့ ထပ်စဉ်းစားကြည့်ပါဦး။

Is it really the happy people that are grateful?

ပျော်ရွှင်တဲ့ လူတွေဟာ ကျေးဇူးတင်တတ်တဲ့ လူတွေဆိုတာ တကယ်လား။

လူအတော်များများဟာ ပျော်ရွှင်စေဖို့

We all know quite a number of people

who have everything that it would take to be happy,

လိုအပ်မယ့် အရာအားလုံး ရှိနေပြီး မပျော်ကြဘူးဆိုတာလည်း

and they are not happy,

အားလုံး အသိကြီးပါ။

because they want something else or they want more of the same.

အကြောင်းက သူတို့ဟာ အခြားတစ်ခု လိုချင်တယ်၊ (သို့) အဲဒါကိုပဲ ထပ်လိုချင်လို့ပါ။

And we all know people who have lots of misfortune,

ကံဆိုးမှုတွေရှိနေတာတောင် အင်မတန်ကို ပျော်ရွှင်နေတဲ့သူတွေကို

misfortune that we ourselves would not want to have,

and they are deeply happy.

အားလုံးသိကြပါတယ်။

They radiate happiness. You are surprised.

သူတို့ဟာ ပျော်ရွှင်မှု ရောင်ခြည်ဖြာနေတယ်၊ သင်တို့ အံ့ဩကြတယ်။

ဘာကြောင့်လဲ၊ သူတို့ဟာ ကျေးဇူးတင်ကြလို့ပါ။

Why? Because they are grateful.

So it is not happiness that makes us grateful.

ဒီတော့ ကျွန်တော်တို့ကို ကျေးဇူးတင်စေတာ ပျော်ရွှင်မှုမဟုတ်ဘူး။

It's gratefulness that makes us happy.

ကျေးဇူးတင်မှုက ကျွန်တော်တို့ကို ပျော်ရွှင်စေတာပါ။

If you think it's happiness that makes you grateful,

ပျော်ရွှင်မှုက သင့်ကို ကျေးဇူးတင်စေတယ် လို့သင်ထင်ရင်

think again.

ထပ်ပြီး စဉ်းစားပါဦး။

It's gratefulness that makes you happy.

ကျေးဇူးတင်မှုက သင့်ကို ပျော်ရွှင်စေတာပါ။

Now, we can ask,

အခု ကျွန်တော်တို့မေးနိုင်တာက

what do we really mean by gratefulness?

ကျေးဇူးတင်မှုဆိုတာက ဘာကိုဆိုလိုတာလဲ။

And how does it work?

ဒါက ဘယ်လိုလုပ်ဆောင်လဲ။

I appeal to your own experience.

သင်တို့ အတွေ့အကြုံကို မေတ္တာရပ်ခံပါတယ်။

We all know from experience how it goes.

ဒါက ဘယ်လိုဆိုတာ အတွေ့အကြုံကနေ ကျွန်တော်တို့ အားလုံးသိတယ်။

ကျွန်တော်တို့အတွက် တန်ဖိုးရှိတာတစ်ခုခုကို တွေ့ကြုံခံစားကြပါတယ်။

We experience something that's valuable to us.

Something is given to us that's valuable to us.

ကျွန်တော်တို့အတွက် တန်ဖိုးရှိတာတစ်ခုခုကို ကျွန်တော်တို့ကို ပေးပါတယ်။

And it's really given.

ဒါက တကယ်ပေးတာပါ။

These two things have to come together.

ဒီနှစ်ခု တွဲလာဖို့လိုပါတယ်။

တန်ဖိုးရှိတာ တစ်ခုခုဖြစ်ဖို့လိုပြီး ဒါဟာ တကယ့်လက်ဆောင်တစ်ခုပါ။

It has to be something valuable, and it's a real gift.

You haven't bought it. You haven't earned it.

ဒါကို သင်ဝယ်မထားဘူး။ ဒါကို သင် အလုပ်လုပ်လို့ရထားတာမဟုတ်ဘူး။

You haven't traded it in. You haven't worked for it.

ရောင်းဝယ်ထားတာ၊ ဒါအတွက် အလုပ်လုပ်ထားတာမဟုတ်ဘူး။

It's just given to you.

သင့်ကို ပေးပဲပေးထားတာပါ။

And when these two things come together,

ပြီးတော့ ဒီနှစ်ခု အတူလာတဲ့အခါ

ကျွန်တော့အတွက် တန်ဖိုးရှိတာတစ်ခုဖြစ်ပြီး ဒါဟာ အခမဲ့ပေးထားတာလို့ နားလည်မိကာ

something that's really valuable to me and I realize it's freely given,

then gratefulness spontaneously rises in my heart,

ကျေးဇူးတင်မှုက ကျွန်တော့ နှလုံးသားထဲမှာ အလိုလို ပေါ်လာတယ်၊

happiness spontaneously rises in my heart.

ပျော်ရွှင်မှုက ကျွန်တော့နှလုံးသားထဲမှာ အလိုလို ပေါ်လာတယ်၊၊

ဒါက ကျေးဇူးတင်မှု ဖြစ်ပေါ်ပုံပါ။

That's how gratefulness happens.

Now the key to all this

အခု ဒါအားလုံးရဲ့သော့ချက်က

is that we cannot only experience this once in a while.

ကျွန်တော်တို့ဟာ ဘဝမှာ ဒါကို တစ်ခါတစ်ခါမှသာ တွေ့ကြုံ ခံစားနိုင်ကြတာမဟုတ်ဘူး။

We cannot only have grateful experiences.

ကျေးဇူးသိတတ်တဲ့ အတွေ့အကြုံတွေကိုပဲ ရှိနိုင်တာမဟုတ်ပါဘူး။

We can be people who live gratefully.

ကျွန်တော်တို့ဟာ ကျေးဇူးသိသိနဲ့ ရှင်သန်သူတွေ ဖြစ်နိုင်တာပါ။

Grateful living, that is the thing.

ကျေးဇူးသိတဲ့ ရှင်သန်ခြင်း ဒါက အဓိကပါ။

And how can we live gratefully?

ဒီတော့ ကျေးဇူးသိသိနဲ့ ဘယ်လိုရှင်သန်နိုင်လဲ

တွေ့ကြုံခံစားခြင်း၊ ဆိုတဲ့အတိုင်း တဒင်္ဂတိုင်းဟာ

By experiencing, by becoming aware

that every moment is a given moment, as we say.

ပေးထားတဲ့ တဒင်္ဂလို့ သတိမူမိခြင်းနဲ့ပါ။

It's a gift. You haven't earned it.

ဒါက လက်ဆောင်တစ်ခုပါ၊ သင်အလုပ်လုပ်ထားမလုပ်ဘူး၊

You haven't brought it about in any way.

ဘယ်နည်းနဲ့မှ ဝယ်ထားတာမဟုတ်ဘူး။

You have no way of assuring

နောက်ထပ် တဒင်္ဂ သင့်ကိုပေးလိမ့်ဦးမယ်လို့

that there will be another moment given to you,

စိတ်ချစရာအကြောင်း သင့်မှာမရှိဘူး၊

and yet, that's the most valuable thing that can ever be given to us,

ပြီးတော့ ဒါက ကျွန်တော်တို့ကို ပေးထားနိုင် သမျှထဲမှာ တန်ဖိုးအရှိဆုံးအရာပါ။

ဒီတဒင်္ဂ၊ အခွင့်အလမ်းအားလုံးပါဝင်တဲ့ တဒင်္ဂပါ။

this moment, with all the opportunity that it contains.

If we didn't have this present moment,

ကျွန်တော်တို့မှာ ဒီလက်ရှိတဒင်္ဂမရှိခဲ့ရင်

we wouldn't have any opportunity to do anything

ကျွန်တော်တို့မှာ ဘာတစ်ခုမှလုပ်ဖို့ ဘာတစ်ခုကိုမှ တွေ့ကြုံခံစားဖို့

or experience anything,

အခွင့်အလမ်းရှိလိမ့််မည်မဟုတ်ပါ၊

and this moment is a gift.

တဒင်္ဂဟာ လက်ဆောင်တစ်ခုပါ။

It's a given moment, as we say.

ပြောသလိုပဲ ဒါက ပေးထားတဲ့ တဒင်္ဂပါ။

Now, we say the gift within this gift is really the opportunity.

ကဲ ဒီလက်ဆောင်ထဲအတွင်းက လက်ဆောင်ဟာ တကယ့် အခွင့်အလမ်းတစ်ခုလို့ ပြောကြတယ်။

What you are really grateful for is the opportunity,

ဒီ သင်တကယ်ကိုပဲ ကျေးဇူးတင်တာကိုက အခွင့်အလမ်းပါ၊

not the thing that is given to you,

သင့်ကို ပေးထားတဲ့ အရာမဟုတ်ပါဘူး၊

because if that thing were somewhere else

အကြောင်းက ဒီအရာဟာ အခြားတစ်နေရာမှာရှိပြီး

and you didn't have the opportunity to enjoy it,

ဒါကို ခံစားဖို့၊ ဒါနဲ့ပတ်သက်ပြီး တစ်ခုခုလုပ်ဖို့

to do something with it,

သင့်မှာ အခွင့်အလမ်းမရှိရင်

you wouldn't be grateful for it.

ဒီအရာအတွက် သင်ကျေးဇူးတင်မှာ မဟုတ်ဘူးလေ။

အခွင့်အလမ်းဟာ လက်ဆောင်တိုင်းရဲ့အတွင်းက လက်ဆောင်ဖြစ်ပြီး

Opportunity is the gift within every gift,

အခွင့်အလမ်းဟာ တစ်ခါပဲ တံခါးလာခေါက် တယ်လို့ ဆိုရိုးလေးရှိပါတယ်။

and we have this saying, opportunity knocks only once.

Well, think again.

ကဲ ထပ်စဉ်းစားပါဦး။

Every moment is a new gift, over and over again,

တဒင်္ဂတိုင်းဟာ လက်ဆောင်သစ်တစ်ခုပါ၊ ထပ်ကာ၊ ထပ်ကာဖြစ်ပြီး

and if you miss the opportunity of this moment,

သင်ဟာ ဒီတဒင်္ဂရဲ့ အခွင့်အလမ်းကို လွတ်သွားရင်

နောက်ထပ်၊ နောက်ထပ်တဒင်္ဂကို ကျွန်တော်တို့ကို ပေးထားပါတယ်။

another moment is given to us, and another moment.

ဒီအခွင့်အလမ်းကို ကျွန်တော်တို့ကိုယ်တိုင် အသုံးချနိုင်တယ်၊

We can avail ourselves of this opportunity,

or we can miss it,

ဒါမှမဟုတ် လွတ်နိုင်တယ်ပေါ့။

and if we avail ourselves of the opportunity,

ဒီအခွင့်အလမ်းကို ကျွန်တော်တို့ကိုယ်တိုင် အသုံးချနိုင်ရင်

it is the key to happiness.

ဒါဟာ ပျော်ရွှင်မှုရဲ့ သော့ပါ။

Behold the master key to our happiness

ကျွန်တော်တို့ လက်တွေထဲက ကျွန်တော်တို့ ပျော်ရွှင်မှုရဲ့

in our own hands.

သော့တူကို ကြည့်ရှုလိုက်ပါ။

Moment by moment, we can be grateful for this gift.

တဒင်္ဂပြီး တဒင်္ဂ ဒီလက်ဆောင်အတွက် ကျွန်တော်တို့ ကျေးဇူးတင်နိုင်ပါတယ်။

Does that mean

ဒါက ဆိုလိုတာက

အရာတိုင်းအတွက် ကျေးဇူးတင်နိုင်တယ်လို့လား။

that we can be grateful for everything?

Certainly not.

လုံးဝ မဟုတ်ပါဘူး။

We cannot be grateful for violence, for war,

အကြမ်းဖက်မှုအတွက်၊ စစ်အတွက်၊ ဖိနှိပ်မှု၊ ခေါင်းပုံဖြတ်မှုအတွက်

for oppression, for exploitation.

ကျေးဇူးမတင်နိုင်ပါဘူး။

On the personal level, we cannot be grateful

ကိုယ်ဘရေးကိုယ်တာ အဆင့်မှာ မိတ်ဆွေတစ်ဦး ဆုံးရှုံးမှုအတွက်၊

သစ္စာမဲ့မှုအတွက်၊ ပူဆွေးသောကအတွက်

for the loss of a friend, for unfaithfulness,

for bereavement.

ကျေးဇူးမတင်နိုင်ပါဘူး။

But I didn't say we can be grateful for everything.

ဒါပေမဲ့ အရာတိုင်းအတွက် ကျေးဇူးတင် နိုင်တယ်လို့ ကျွန်တော်မပြောခဲ့ဘူး။

I said we can be grateful in every given moment

အခွင့်အလမ်းအတွက် ပေးထားတဲ့ တဒင်္ဂတိုင်းအတွက် ကျေးဇူးတင်နိုင်တယ်

လို့ပြောခဲ့တာပါ။

for the opportunity,

and even when we are confronted with something that is terribly difficult,

အင်မတန် ခက်ခဲတာတစ်ခုခုနဲ့ ရင်ဆိုင်ရတဲ့အခါတောင်မှ

we can rise to this occasion

ဒီအခါအခွင့်ကို ပိုင်နိုင်စွာဖြေရှင်းပြီး

and respond to the opportunity that is given to us.

ကျွန်တော်တို့ကို ပေးထားတဲ့ အခွင့်အလမ်းကို အလိုက်သင့်တုံ့ပြန်နိုင်တာပါ။

ဒါက ထင်ရသလောက် မဆိုးပါဘူး။

It isn't as bad as it might seem.

Actually, when you look at it and experience it,

တကယ်မှာ ဒါကို ကြည့်ပြီး တွေ့ကြုံခံစားတဲ့အခါ

you find that most of the time,

အချိန်အများစုမှာ ကျွန်တော်တို့ကို ပေးတာက

what is given to us is the opportunity to enjoy,

နှစ်သက်ခံစားဖို့ အခွင့်အလမ်းဆိုတာ တွေ့ရတယ်

ဒါက လွတ်တဲ့အကြောင်းက ကျွန်တော်တို့ဟာ ဘဝတစ်လျှောက်လုံး

and we only miss it because we are rushing through life

တက်သုတ်ရိုက်နေပြီး အခွင့်အလမ်းကို ကြည့်ဖို့ မရပ်နေတာကြောင့်ပါပဲ။

and we are not stopping to see the opportunity.

But once in a while,

ဒါပေမဲ့ တစ်ခါတစ်လေကျတော့

something very difficult is given to us,

ကျွန်တော်တို့ကို ပေးတာဟာ အင်မတန်ခက်ခဲပြီး

and when this difficult thing occurs to us,

ကျွန်တော်တိုမှာ ဒီခက်ခဲမှု ဖြစ်ပေါ်တဲ့အခါ

it's a challenge to rise to that opportunity,

ဒါဟာ ဒီအခွင့်အလမ်းကို ပိုင်နိုင်စွာ ကိုင်တွယ်ဖို့ စိန်ခေါ်မှုတစ်ခုဖြစ်ပြီး

and we can rise to it by learning something

which is sometimes painful.

Learning patience, for instance.

We have been told that the road to peace

That takes patience. That's difficult.

It may be to stand up for your opinion, to stand up for your conviction.

That's an opportunity that is given to us.

To learn, to suffer, to stand up,

all these opportunities are given to us,

ဒီအခွင့်အလမ်းအားလုံး ကျွန်တော်တို့ကို ပေးထားတယ်၊

ဒါပေမဲ့ အခွင့်အလမ်းတွေဖြစ်ပြီး

but they are opportunities,

and those who avail themselves of those opportunities

ဒီအခွင့်အလမ်းတွေကို ကိုယ်တိုင် အသုံးချသူတွေဟာ

are the ones that we admire.

ကျွန်တော်တို့ ကြည်ညိုလေးစားတဲ့သူတွေပါ။

They make something out of life.

သူတို့ဟာ ဘဝကနေ တစ်ခုခုဖန်တီးတယ်။

And those who fail get another opportunity.

ပြီးတော့ နောက်ထပ် အခွင့်အလမ်းရယူဖို့ ပျက်ကွက်သူတွေ၊

ကျွန်တော်တို့မှာ နောက်အခွင့်အလမ်း အြမဲရှိတယ်။

We always get another opportunity.

That's the wonderful richness of life.

ဒါက အံ့ဖွယ် ဘဝရဲ့ ကြွယ်ဝမှုပါ။

So how can we find a method that will harness this?

ဒီတော့ ဒါကို ထိန်းချုပ်အသုံးချမယ့် နည်းလမ်းတစ်ခုကို ဘယ်လိုရှာနိုင်လဲ။

How can each one of us find a method for living gratefully,

ကျွန်တော်တို့ တစ်ဦးစီဟာ ကျေးဇူးသိသိ ရှင် သန်ခြင်းအတွက် နည်းလမ်း ဘယ်လိုရှာနိုင်လဲ။

not just once in a while being grateful,

တစ်ခါတစ်လေမှသာ ကျေးဇူးတင်တာမဟုတ်ပဲ

but moment by moment to be grateful.

တဒင်္ဂတိုင်းအတွက်ပါ ကျေးဇူးတင်ဖို့ပါ။

How can we do it? It's a very simple method.

ဒါကို ဘယ်လိုလုပ်နိုင်လဲ။ ဒါက အင်မတန်ရိုးစင်းတဲ့ နည်းလမ်းတစ်ခုပါ။

It's so simple that it's actually what we were told as children

ကျွန်တော်တို့ ကလေးတုန်းက သင်ပေး ခံရတာလောက်ကို အင်မတန်ရိုးစင်းပါတယ်။

when we learned to cross the street.

Stop.

Go.

That's all.

But how often do we stop?

ဒါပေမဲ့ ဘယ်နှစ်ခါလောက် ကျွန်တော်တို့ ရပ်ကြလဲ။

We rush through life. We don't stop.

ဘဝတစ်လျှောက်လုံး တက်သုတ်ရိုက်ကြတယ်၊ မရပ်ကြဘူးလေ။

We miss the opportunity because we don't stop.

မရပ်ကြတော့ အခွင့်အလမ်းကို ကျွန်တော်တို့ လွတ်သွားတယ်။

ကျွန်တော်တို့ ရပ်ဖို့လိုပါတယ်။

We have to stop.

We have to get quiet.

ကျွန်တော်တို့ ဆိတ်ငြိမ်ဖို့လိုပါတယ်။

ကျွန်တော်တို့ဘဝတွေမှာ ရပ်ဖို့ ဆိုင်းဘုတ်တွေ ချိတ်ထားရန် လိုပါတယ်။

And we have to build stop signs into our lives.

When I was in Africa some years ago and then came back,

လွန်ခဲ့တဲ့ နှစ်တွေက ကျွန်တော် အာဖရိက ရောက်ခဲ့ပြီး ပြန်လာတော့

I noticed water.

ရေကို ကျွန်တော် သတိထားခဲ့မိတယ်။

အာဖရိကက ကျွန်တော်ရောက်ခဲ့တဲ့နေရာမှာ သောက်လို့ရတဲ့ ရေ မရှိခဲ့ဘူး။

In Africa where I was, I didn't have drinkable water.

Every time I turned on the faucet, I was overwhelmed.

ဘုံပိုင်ခေါင်းကိုဖွင့်တဲ့ အချိန်တိုင်း ကျွန်တော် စိတ်ထိခိုက်မိတယ်။

Every time I clicked on the light, I was so grateful.

It made me so happy.

But after a while, this wears off.

So I put little stickers on the light switch

and on the water faucet,

and every time I turned it on, water.

So leave it up to your own imagination.

You can find whatever works best for you,

but you need stop signs in your life.

ဒါပေမဲ့ သင့်ဘဝမှာ ရပ်ဖို့ ဆိုင်းဘုတ် တွေတော့ လိုပါတယ်။

And when you stop,

သင်ရပ်တဲ့အခါ

then the next thing is to look.

နောက်တစ်ခုက ကြည့်ဖို့ပါ။

You look. You open your eyes.

သင်ကြည့်တယ်၊ သင့်မျက်လုံးတွေ ဖွင့်တယ်။

You open your ears. You open your nose.

သင့်နားတွေ စွင့်တယ်၊ သင့်နှာခေါင်းကို ဖွင့်တယ်၊

You open all your senses

ကျွန်တော်တို့ကို ပေးထားတဲ့

for this wonderful richness that is given to us.

ဒီအံ့ဖွယ် ကြွယ်ဝမှုအတွက် အာရုံတွေအားလုံးကို ဖွင့်တယ်။

There is no end to it, and that is what life is all about,

ဒီမှာ အဆုံးမရှိပါဘူး၊ ဒါက ဘဝဆိုတာ ဘာလဲဆိုတဲ့ အကြောင်းပါ။

to enjoy, to enjoy what is given to us.

နှစ်သက်ခံစားဖို့၊ ကျွန်တော်တို့ကိုပေးတာကို နှစ်သက်ခံစားဖို့ပါ။

And then we can also open our hearts,

ဒီနောက် ကျွန်တော်တို့ နှလုံးသားတွေကို ကိုလည်းဖွင့်နိုင်တယ်။

our hearts for the opportunities,

အခွင့်အလမ်းအတွက် ကျွန်တော်တို့ နှလုံးသားတွေ၊

for the opportunities also to help others,

အခြားသူတွေကို ကူညီဖို့ ၊ အခြားသူတွေကို ပျော်စေဖို့

to make others happy,

အခွင့်အလမ်းတွေအတွက်ပါ။

အကြောင်းက အားလုံးပျော်တာထက် ဘယ်အရာမှ ကျွန်တော်တို့ကို ပိုမပျော်စေလို့ပါ။

because nothing makes us more happy than when all of us are happy.

And when we open our hearts to the opportunities,

အခွင့်အလမ်းတွေအတွက် ကျွန်တော်တို့ရဲ့ နှလုံးသားတွေကို ဖွင့်လိုက်တဲ့အခါ

the opportunities invite us to do something,

အခွင့်အလမ်းတွေက တစ်ခုခုလုပ်ဖို့ ကျွန်တော်တို့ကို ဖိတ်ကြားပါတယ်၊

and that is the third.

ဒါက တတိယပါ။

Stop, look, and then go, and really do something.

ရပ်၊ ကြည့်၊ ပြီးတော့ သွားပါ၊ တစ်ခုခုကို တကယ်လုပ်လိုက်ပါ။

And what we can do

ကျွန်တော်တို့ လုပ်နိုင်တာက

is whatever life offers to you in that present moment.

Mostly it's the opportunity to enjoy,

အများစုက ဒါဟာ ပျော်ရွှင်ခံစားဖို့ အခွင့်အလမ်းဆိုပေမဲ့

but sometimes it's something more difficult.

တစ်ခါတစ်လေကျတော့ ပိုခက်ခဲတဲ့ တစ်ခုခုပါ။

ဒါပေမဲ့ ဘာပဲဖြစ်ဖြစ် ဒီအခွင့်အလမ်းကို ကျွန်တော်တို့ ယူလိုက်ရင်

But whatever it is, if we take this opportunity,

we go with it, we are creative, those are the creative people.

ဒါနဲ့ လိုက်ဖက်သွားတယ်၊ ဖန်တီးတတ်တယ်၊ ဒါတွေဟာ ဖန်တီးတတ်သူတွေပါ။

And that little stop, look, go,

ဒီ ရပ်၊ ကြည့်၊ သွားဆိုတာလေးက

is such a potent seed

ကျွန်တော်တို့ ကမ္ဘာကို

that it can revolutionize our world.

လုံးဝပြောင်းလဲနိုင်တဲ့ ဒီလောက် အာနိသင်ရှိတဲ့ မျိုးစေ့ပါ။

Because we are at the present moment

အကြောင်းက ကျွန်တော်တို့ဟာ

in the middle of a change of consciousness,

အသိ ပြောင်းလဲမှုတစ်ခုရဲ့ အလယ်က လက်ရှိတဒင်္ဂမှာရှိနေပြီး

သင်တို့ အံ့ဩသွားမိမှာက...

and you will be surprised if you --

"ကျေးဇူးတင်ရှိမှု" နဲ့ "ကျေးဇူးတရား" ပါတဲ့ ဒီစကားလုံး

I am always surprised when I hear how many times

this word "gratefulness" and "gratitude" comes up.

ဘယ်နှစ်ကြိမ် ကြားကြား ကျွန်တော်တော့ အမြဲ အံ့ဩမိတယ်။

Everywhere you find it,

နေရာတိုင်းမှာ သင်တွေရတယ်၊

a grateful airline, a restaurant gratefulness,

ကျေးဇူးတင်တဲ့ လေကြောင်းလိုင်း၊ စာသောက်ဆိုင်က ကျေးဇူးတင်မှု၊

a café gratefulness, a wine that is gratefulness.

ကဖေးက ကျေးဇူးတင်မှု၊ ကျေးဇူးတင်တဲ့ ဝိုင်ပါ။

Yes, I have even come across a toilet paper

ဟုတ်ကဲ့၊ "ကျေးဇူးတင်ပါတယ်"လို့ တံဆိပ်ပါတဲ့

အိမ်သာသုံးစက္ကူတစ်ရွက်တောင် အမှတ်မထင်တွေ့မိတယ်။

whose brand is called "Thank You."

ကျေးဇူးတင်မှုရဲ့ လှိုင်းတစ်ခုရှိပါတယ်၊

There is a wave of gratefulness

အကြောင်းက ဒါဟာ ဘယ်လိုအရေးပါတယ်၊ ဒါက ကျွန်တော်တို့ ကမ္ဘာကို ဘယ်လို

because people are becoming aware how important this is

and how this can change our world.

ပြောင်းလဲနိုင်တာကို လူတွေ သတိမူမိလာကြလို့ပါ။

It can change our world in immensely important ways,

ဒါက ကျွန်တော်တို့ကမ္ဘာကို အလွန့်အလွန်ကို အရေးပါတဲ့ နည်းတွေနဲ့ ပြောင်းလဲနိုင်ပါတယ်၊

because if you're grateful, you're not fearful,

အကြောင်းက သင်ဟာ ကျေးဇူးတင်တယ်ဆိုရင် သင်ဟာ ကြောက်စရာမကောင်းဘူး၊

သင်ဟာ ကြောက်စရာမကောင်းရင် သင်ဟာ မကြမ်းကြုတ်ဘူး။

and if you're not fearful, you're not violent.

If you're grateful, you act out of a sense of enough

သင်ဟာ ကျေးဇူးတင်တယ်ဆိုရင် သင်ဟာ လုံလောက်တဲ့ သဘောကနေလုပ်ဆောင်ပြီး

and not of a sense of scarcity,

ရှားပါးတဲ့ သဘောကနေမဟုတ်ပဲ

and you are willing to share.

ဝေမျှဖို့ ဆန္ဒရှိနေတယ်။

If you are grateful,

သင်ဟာ ကျေးဇူးတင်တယ်ဆိုရင်

သင်ဟာ လူတွေကြားက ကွဲပြားမှုတွေကို နှစ်သက်နေပြီး

you are enjoying the differences between people,

လူတိုင်းကို လေးစားတယ်၊

and you are respectful to everybody,

and that changes this power pyramid under which we live.

ဒါက ကျွန်တော်တို့နေထိုင်တဲ့ ပိရမစ်အောက်က ဒီအင်အားကို ပြောင်းလဲစေတယ်။

ပြီးတော့ ဒါက ညီမျှမှုအတွက် မလုပ်ပေမဲ့ ညီမျှတဲ့ လေးစားမှုအတွက်လုပ်တယ်၊

And it doesn't make for equality, but it makes for equal respect,

and that is the important thing.

The future of the world will be a network,

not a pyramid turned upside down.

The revolution of which I am speaking is a nonviolent revolution,

ကျွန်တော် ပြောနေတဲ့ တော်လှန်ရေးက အကြမ်းမဖက် တော်လှန်ရေးတစ်ခုအကြောင်းပါ။

and it's so revolutionary that it even revolutionizes

the very concept of a revolution,

because the normal revolution

is one where the power pyramid is turned upside down

and are doing exactly the same thing that the ones before.

What we need is a networking of smaller groups,

smaller and smaller groups who know one another,

အချင်းချင်း သိကြတဲ့၊ အချင်းချင်း တုံ့ပြန်ဆက်သွယ်တဲ့၊

who interact with one another, and that is a grateful world.

ငယ်သထက်ငယ်တဲ့ အစုတွေပါ၊ ဒါက ကျေးဇူးတင်တတ်တဲ့ ကမ္ဘာတစ်ခုပါ၊

A grateful world is a world of joyful people.

ကျေးဇူးတင်တတ်တဲ့ ကမ္ဘာတစ်ခုဆိုတာက ပျော်ရွှင်တဲ့ လူတွေရဲ့ ကမ္ဘာတစ်ခုပါ။

Grateful people are joyful people,

ကျေးဇူးတင်တဲ့ လူတွေဟာ ပျော်ရွှင်တဲ့ လူတွေပါ၊

and joyful people --

ပြီးတော့ ပျော်ရွှင်တဲ့ လူတွေ၊

the more and more joyful people there are,

စိတ်ချမ်းသာ ပျော်ရွှင်တဲ့ လူတွေ ပိုများလာလေလေ၊

the more and more we'll have a joyful world.

ပိုပိုပြီး စိတ်ချမ်းသာ ပျော်ရွှင်တဲ့ ကမ္ဘာကို ကျွန်တော်တို့ ရလာမယ်။

We have a network for grateful living, and it has mushroomed.

ကျွန်တော်တို့မှာ ကျေးဇူးတင်တဲ့ရှင်သန်ခြင်း အတွက် ကွန်ရက်ရှိပြီး အမြန် တိုးပွားလာပြီ။

We couldn't understand why it mushroomed.

အမြန် တိုးပွားလာတဲ့ အကြောင်းတော့ နားမလည်နိုင်ခဲ့ဘူး။

We have an opportunity for people to light a candle

လူတွေ တစ်ခုခုအတွက် ကျေးဇူးတင်တဲ့အခါ သူတို့အတွက် ဖယောင်းတိုင်

when they are grateful for something.

တစ်တိုင်ထွန်းဖို့ အခွင့်အလမ်းတစ်ခုရှိပါတယ်။

And there have been 15 million candles lit in one decade.

ဆယ်စုနှစ်တစ်ခုအတွင်းမှာ ထွန်းညှိ ထားတဲ့ ဖယောင်းတိုင် ၁၅ သန်းရှိသွားပါပြီ။

ကျေးဇူးတင်တဲ့ကမ္ဘာဟာ ပျော်စရာကမ္ဘာ တစ်ခုလို့ လူတွေ သတိမူမိလာနေပြီး

People are becoming aware that a grateful world is a happy world,

and we all have the opportunity by the simple stop, look, go,

ကျွန်တော်တို့အားလုံးမှာ ရိုးစင်းတဲ့ ရပ်၊ ကြည့်၊ သွားဆိုတာနဲ့ ကမ္ဘာကို ပြောင်းလဲဖို့

to transform the world, to make it a happy place.

ဒါကို ပျော်စရာ နေရာတစ်ခုအဖြစ် ဖန်တီးဖို့ အခွင့်အလမ်းရှိပါတယ်။

ဒါက အားလုံးအတွက် မျှော်လင့်တာပါ

And that is what I hope for us,
