Today I have just one request.

Now I'd like to introduce you to my brothers.

Remi is 22,

tall and very handsome.

He's speechless, but he communicates joy

in a way that some of the best orators cannot.

But most people don't agree.

And in fact, because their minds don't fit

into society's version of normal,

they're often bypassed and misunderstood.

But what lifted my heart and strengthened my soul

was that even though this was the case,

although they were not seen as ordinary,

this could only mean one thing:

that they were extraordinary --

autistic and extraordinary.

အော်တစ်ဇင်ဖြစ်နေပြီး ထူးခြားနေသူတွေပါ။

Now, for you who may be less familiar with the term "autism,"

အခု “အော်တစ်ဇင်” ဆိုတဲ့ အသုံးအနှုန်းနဲ့ အကျွမ်းတဝင်သိပ်မရှိလောက်တဲ့ သူတွေအတွက်တော့

it's a complex brain disorder that affects social communication,

ဒါဟာ လူမှုဆက်သွယ်ရေး၊ သင်ယူမှုနဲ့ တစ်ခါတလေ ရုပ်ပိုင်းဆိုင်ရာ ကျွမ်းကျင်မှုတွေကို

learning and sometimes physical skills.

It manifests in each individual differently,

hence why Remi is so different from Sam.

And across the world, every 20 minutes, one new person

there is no known cause or cure.

And I cannot remember the first moment I encountered autism,

but I cannot recall a day without it.

I was just three years old when my brother came along,

and I was so excited that

I had a new being in my life.

And after a few months went by,

I realized that he was different.

He screamed a lot.

He didn't want to play like the other babies did,

and in fact, he didn't seem

Remi lived and reigned in his own world, with his own rules,

and he found pleasure in the smallest things,

And as he grew older, he grew more different,

and the differences became more obvious.

Yet beyond the tantrums and the frustration

and the never-ending hyperactivity

မဆုံးနိုင်တဲ့ အငြိမ်မနေတာအပြင်

was something really unique:

တကယ့်ကို ထူးခြားတဲ့ အရာတစ်ခုက

a pure and innocent nature, a boy who saw the world

ဖြုစင်ပြီး အပြစ်ကင်းတဲ့ သဘာဝတစ်ခုပါ၊ မလိုမုန်းထားမှုမရှိဘဲ ကမ္ဘာကို မြင်တဲ့

without prejudice, a human who had never lied.

ကောင်လေးတစ်ယောက်၊ ဘယ်တော့မှ မလိမ်ညာဖူးတဲ့ လူသားတစ်ယောက်ပါ။

Extraordinary.

ထူးခြားပါတယ်။

Now, I cannot deny that there have been

ကဲ ကျွန်မ မိသားစုမှာ စိန်ခေါ်တဲ့

some challenging moments in my family,

အခိုက်အတန့်တွေ ရှိခဲ့တယ်ဆိုတာ မငြင်းနိုင်ပါဘူး၊

moments where I've wished that they were just like me.

But I cast my mind back to the things that they've taught me

about individuality and communication and love,

သူတို့ ကျွန်မကို သင်ပေးခဲ့တာ တွေကို စိတ်ထဲ ပြန်တွေးမိတယ်၊

and I realize that these are things that

ဒါတွေဟာ ပုံမှန်အခြေအနေနဲ့အတူ ကျွန်မ ပြောင်းလဲချင်မှာမဟုတ်တဲ့

I wouldn't want to change with normality.

အရာတွေဆိုတာ ကျွန်မ သဘောပေါက်မိတယ်။

Normality overlooks the beauty that differences give us,

ပုံမှန်အခြေအနေက ကျွန်မတို့ကို ပေးတဲ့ အလှတရားကို လျစ်လျူရှုပြီး

and the fact that we are different doesn't mean that one of us is wrong.

ကျွန်မတို့ ခြားနားတယ်ဆိုတာက တစ်ယောက်က မှားတယ်လို့ မဆိုလိုဘူး။

It just means that there's a different kind of right.

ခြားနားတဲ့ အခွင့်အရေးမျိုးတစ်ခု ရှိတယ်ဆိုတဲ့ အဓိပ္ပာယ်ပါ။

And if I could communicate just one thing to Remi

တကယ်လို့ ကျွန်မက ဟာ Remi နဲ Sam တို့ကို သင်တို့ကို

and to Sam

တစ်ခုတည်းကိုပဲ

and to you,

ဆက်သွယ်ပေးနိုင်ဆိုရင်

it would be that you don't have to be normal.

ဒါက သင်တို့ဟာ သာမန်ဖြစ်ဖို့ မလိုဘူးဆိုတာဖြစ်မှာပါ။

You can be extraordinary.

သင်တို့ဟာ ထူးခြားနေနိုင်ပါတယ်။

Because autistic or not,

ဘာဖြစ်လို့လဲဆိုတော့ အော်တစ်ဇင် ဖြစ်၊မဖြစ်က

the differences that we have --

ကျွန်မတို့မှာရှိတဲ့ ခြားနားချက်တွေကြောင့်ပါ၊

We've got a gift! Everyone's got a gift inside of us,

ကျွန်မတို့ရဲ့ ကိုယ်တွင်းမှာ လူတိုင်းရဲ့ ကိုယ်တွင်းမှာ အထုံပါရမီတစ်ခု ရထားတယ်၊

and in all honesty, the pursuit of normality

ရိုးရိုးသားသားပြောရရင် ပုံမှန်အခြေအနေနောက်ကို လိုက်တာက

is the ultimate sacrifice of potential.

အလားအလာရဲ့ အဆုံးစွန် စွန့်လွှတ်မှုပါပဲ။

The chance for greatness, for progress and for change

ကြီးမြတ်မှုအတွက် အခွင့်အလမ်း၊ တိုးတက်မှု နဲ့ ပြောင်းလဲမှုအတွက် အခွင့်အလမ်းတွေဟာ

dies the moment we try to be like someone else.

တခြားသူတွေလိုဖြစ်ဖို့ ကျွန်မတို့ ကြိုးစားတဲ့ အခိုက်အတန့်မှာ သေဆုံးသွားတယ်။

Please -- don't tell me I'm normal.
