This is the exact moment

ဒီအချိန်အခါကောင်းမှာပဲ

that I started creating something called Tinkering School.

ကျွန်တော် လက်တွေ့သင်တန်းကျောင်းလို့ခေါ်တဲ့ဟာကို စပြီး တီထွင်ခဲ့တယ်

Tinkering School is a place where kids can pick up sticks

လက်တွေ့သင်တန်းကျောင်းဆိုတာ ကလေးတွေက တုတ်တွေ

and hammers and other dangerous objects,

တူတွေနဲ့ တခြား အန္တရာယ်ရှိတဲ့ ပစ္စည်းတွေကို ကိုင်တွယ်လို့ရတဲ့နေရာ

and be trusted.

ပြီးတော့ ယုံကြည်ခြင်းခံရတဲ့နေရာ

Trusted not to hurt themselves,

သူတို့ကို မထိခိုက်စေဖူးဆိုပြီး ယုံကြည်ခြင်းခံရတယ်

and trusted not to hurt others.

သူတစ်ပါးကို မထိခိုက်စေဖူးဆိုတာလည်း ယုံကြည်ခြင်းခံရတယ်

Tinkering School doesn't follow a set curriculum,

လက်တွေ့သင်တန်းကျောင်းဟာ လိုက်နာစရာ သင်ရိုးညွှန်းတန်းဆိုပြီး သတ်မှတ်မထားပါဘူး

and there are no tests.

စာမေးပွဲစစ်တာတွေလည်း မရှိဘူး

We're not trying to teach anybody any specific thing.

ဘယ်သူ့ကိုမှ ဘာတိတိကျကျတတ်ရမယ်ဆိုပြီး သင်ပေးဖို့မကြိုးစားပါဘူး

When the kids arrive

ကလေးတွေ ရောက်လာပြီဆိုရင်

they're confronted with lots of stuff:

သူတို့တွေ ပစ္စည်းပစ္စယတွေအများကြီးနဲ့ ရင်ဆိုင်ရမယ်

wood and nails and rope and wheels,

သစ်သားတွေ၊ သံတွေ၊ ကြိုးတွေ၊ ဘီးတွေ...

and lots of tools, real tools.

ပြီးတော့ ကိရိယာတဆာပလာတွေ အများကြီး၊ အားလုံးက အစစ်တွေ...

It's a six-day immersive experience for the kids.

ကလေးတွေအတွက် ၆ ရက်တာ ကိုယ်စိတ် လုံးလုံးလျားလျား နှစ်မြှုပ်ထားရတဲ့ အတွေ့အကြုံ

And within that context, we can offer the kids time --

အဲဒီလို အနေအထားမှာ ကလေးတွေကို အချိန်ဆိုတာ ပေးထားလို့ရတယ်

something that seems in short supply

အချိန်က အရမ်းနည်းလွန်းတယ်လေ

in their over-scheduled lives.

လုပ်စရာတွေ လွန်ကဲနေတဲ့ သူတို့ရဲ့ဘဝမှာပေါ့

Our goal is to ensure that they leave

ကျွန်တော်တို့ ရည်ရွယ်ချက်ကတော့ သူတို့တွေ ပြန်သွားတဲ့အခါ

with a better sense of how to make things

အရာဝတ္ထုတွေကို ဘယ်လိုလုပ်မယ်ဆိုတဲ့ အသိကောင်းကောင်းရသွားဖို့ပဲ

than when they arrived,

သူတို့ စရောက်ခါစ အချိန်ကထက် စာရင်ပေါ့

and the deep internal realization

ပြီးတော့ စိတ်ထဲမှာ နက်နက်နဲနဲ နားလည်သွားစေချင်တယ်

that you can figure things out by fooling around.

ပစ္စည်းတွေကို ဟိုဟိုဒီဒီကလိပေးလိုက်ရင် ကောင်းအောင်ပြန်လုပ်လို့ရတယ်ဆိုတာပေါ့

Nothing ever turns out as planned ... ever.

ဘယ်ဟာကမှတော့ စီစဉ်ထားတဲ့အတိုင်း ဖြစ်မလာပါဘူး... အမြဲတမ်းပါပဲ..

And the kids soon learn

ကလေးတွေက မကြာခင်မှာပဲ ကောင်းကောင်း သိသွားကြတယ်

that all projects go awry --

ပရော့ဂျက်အကုန်လုံး မှန်းချက်နဲ့မကိုက်ဘူးဆိုတာ

and become at ease with the idea that every step

ပြီးတော့မှ အေးအေးဆေးဆေးဖြစ်ပြီး အသိလေးရလာတယ်

in a project is a step closer

ပရော့ဂျက်ထဲက အဆင့်တိုင်းဟာ တစ်ဆင့်ပြီးသွားရင်

to sweet success,

ချိုမြိန်တဲ့ အောင်မြင်မှုဆီကို

or gleeful calamity.

ဒါမှမဟုတ် ပျော်ရွှင်စရာ ဘေးဒုက္ခဆီကို တစ်ဆင့်ပိုနီးလာတယ်ဆိုတာ...

We start from doodles and sketches.

ကျွန်တော်တို့ ရည်ရွယ်ချက်မဲ့ ဟိုရေး ဒီခြစ်ကနေ စတယ်

And sometimes we make real plans.

တခါတလေတော့ တကယ့် စီမံကိန်းလေးတွေ လုပ်ကြတယ်

And sometimes we just start building.

တခါတလေတော့ ကျွန်တော်တို့ တခုခု ဆောက်တာကနေ စလိုက်တယ်

Building is at the heart of the experience:

တခုခု ဆောက်လုပ်တာဟာ ဒီအတွေ့အကြုံ တစ်ခုလုံးရဲ့ အဓိက ဗဟိုချက်ပါပဲ

hands on, deeply immersed

လက်တွေ့လုပ်မယ်၊ စိတ်ရောကိုယ်ပါ နက်နက်ရှိုင်းရှိုင်း နှစ်မြုပ်ထားမယ်

and fully committed to the problem at hand.

လက်ရှိပြဿနာကို အပြည့်အဝ အာရုံထားမယ်ပေါ့...

Robin and I, acting as collaborators,

ရော်ဘင် နဲ့ ကျွန်တော်က အတူဝိုင်းကူလုပ်ပေးသူတွေအနေနဲ့

keep the landscape of the projects

စီမံကိန်းတွေရဲ့ အဓိကကျတဲ့ အစိတ်အပိုင်းအားလုံးကို

tilted towards completion.

ပြီးမြောက်တဲ့ဘက်ရောက်အောင် အားစိုက်ပေးတယ်

Success is in the doing,

အောင်မြင်ဖို့ဆိုတာ လုပ်ကြည့်ရင်းနဲ့မှရတာ

and failures are celebrated and analyzed.

ရှုံးနိမ့်တာတွေကိုလည်း ဂုဏ်ပြုပေးတယ်၊ စမ်းစစ်ပေးတယ်

Problems become puzzles

ပြဿနာတွေက ပဟေဠိဖြစ်လာတယ်

and obstacles disappear.

ပြီးတော့ အတားအဆီးတွေ ပျောက်ကုန်တယ်

When faced with particularly difficult

တကယ့်ကို ခက်ခဲတဲ့

setbacks or complexities,

မျှော်လင့်မထားတဲ့ အဆိုးတရားတွေ၊ ရှုပ်ထွေးမှုတွေ နဲ့ ကြုံလာတဲ့အခါ

a really interesting behavior emerges: decoration.

တကယ့်ကို စိတ်ဝင်စားစရာကောင်းတဲ့ အပြုအမူတွေ ပေါ်လာတယ်၊ အဲဒါကတော့ အလှအပ တန်ဆာဆင်တာပါ

မပြီးမြောက်သေးတဲ့ လုပ်ငန်းအတွက် အလှအပတန်ဆာဆင်ပေးတာဟာ

is a kind of conceptual incubation.

ဒီအလုပ်ကို ဘယ်လိုပြီးအောင်ဆက်လုပ်မယ်ဆိုတာ စိတ်ထဲမှာ ဆက်ပြီး ဆက်စပ်စဉ်းစားမှုတစ်မျိုးပါ

From these interludes come deep insights

ဒီကြားကာလ အလုပ်ကလေးတွေကနေ နက်နဲတဲ့ အမြင်တွေ ပေါ်လာတယ်

and amazing new approaches to solving the problems

ပြီးတော့ ပြဿနာကို ဖြေရှင်းဖို့ အံ့ဩစရာကောင်းတဲ့ ချဉ်းကပ်မှုအသစ်တွေ ပေါ်လာတယ်

that had them frustrated just moments before.

ဒီပြဿနာတွေက သူတို့ကို အစောပိုင်းက စိတ်ဒုက္ခပေးနေတာ

All materials are available for use.

ပစ္စည်းပစ္စယအားလုံးကို အသုံးပြုဖို့ စီစဉ်ပေးထားတယ်

Even those mundane, hateful, plastic grocery bags

ဒီ သာမန် မုန်းစရာကောင်းတဲ့ ကုန်ပစ္စည်းထုပ်တဲ့ ပလတ်စတစ်အိတ်တွေကတောင်

can become a bridge

တံတားတစ်စင်း ဖြစ်လာနိုင်ပါတယ်

stronger than anyone imagined.

အားလုံးထင်ထားတာထက်တောင် ပိုပြီး ခိုင်ပါတယ်

And the things that they build

သူတို့ ဆောက်ထားတဲ့ဟာတွေက

amaze even themselves.

သူတို့ကိုတောင် ပြန်ပြီး အံ့ဩသွားစေပါတယ်
