I have a daughter, Mulan.

It's the females, I think, that lay the eggs,

and then the males fertilize them.

So I kind of said, "Oh, it's this extra ingredient,

you know, that you need

to create a new frog

from the mom and dad frog." (Laughter)

And she said, "Oh, so is that true for humans too?"

And I thought, "Okay, here we go."

I was trying to remember all the guidebooks,

And she said, "And where do, um,

ဒီတော့ သူပြောတာက "ဒါဆို ဘယ်မှာ အင်း

where do human women,

ဘယ်မှာများ ဆိုပါတော့ ဘယ်မှာ

လူသားမိန်းမတွေက သူတို့ရဲ့ဥတွေကို

like, where do women lay their eggs?"

ဥဥကြတာလဲဟင်။"

And I said, "Well,

ကျွန်မပြောလိုက်တာက "အင်း

funny you should ask. (Laughter)

မင်းမေးတော့လည်း အခက်သားပဲ။" (ရယ်သံများ)

We have evolved to have our own pond.

"ငါတို့တွေက ကိုယ်ပိုင်ကန်လေး ရှိအောင် လုပ်ထားတယ်လေ၊

We have our very own pond inside our bodies.

ငါတို့ကိုယ်တွေထဲမှာကိုက ကိုယ်ပိုင် ကန်လေးရှိကြတယ်လေ၊

And we lay our eggs there,

we don't have to worry about other eggs or anything like that.

It's our own pond. And that's how it happens."

And she goes, "Then how do they get fertilized?"

And I said, "Well,

Men, through their penis,

they fertilize the eggs by the sperm coming out.

And so we're just eating, and her jaw just drops,

That's how we evolved. It does seem odd.

It is a little bit like having a waste treatment plant

Because she knows that I adopted her and that I can't have kids.

And I said, "Yes."

And she said, "Well, you don't have to do that again."

And then she said, "But how does it happen when a man and woman are together?

Like, how do they know that's the time?

Mom, does the man just say,

"မေမေ ယောက်ျားက ဒါငါ့ဘောင်းဘီချွတ်ဖို့

'Is now the time to take off my pants?'"

And I said, "Yes."

"That is exactly right.

That's exactly how it happens."

ဒီလိုနဲ့ ကျွန်မတို့အိမ်ကို ကားမောင်းပြန်လာပြီး

So we're driving home and she's looking out the window, and she goes,

ပြတင်းပေါက်အပြင်ကို ကြည့်ရင်း သူမပြောတာက

"Mom. What if two just people saw each other on the street,

မေမေ လူနှစ်ယောက် လမ်းပေါ်မှာ တွေတယ်ဆိုရင်ရော၊

ဆိုပါစို့ ယောက်ျား တစ်ယောက်နဲ့ မိန်းမ တစ်ယောက်လေ၊

like a man and a woman, they just started doing it. Would that ever happen?"

သူတို့ဒါကို စလုပ်တော့တာပဲလား၊ အဲလိုရော ဖြစ်တတ်လား။

And I said, "Oh, no. Humans are so private.

ဒီတော့ ကျွန်မက "မဟုတ်ဘူးလေ၊ လူတွေဟာ

အရမ်းကို သီးသန့်ဆန်တယ်လေ၊

Oh ..."

အိုး..."

အဲဒီနောက် သူမပြောတာက

And then she goes, "What if there was like a party,

"ပါတီပွဲတစ်ခုမှာ ဆိုရင်ရော၊

and there was just like a whole bunch of girls and a whole bunch of boys,

အဲဒီမှာက ကောင်မလေးတွေ၊ ကောင်လေးတွေ တစ်ပြုံကြီး၊

ယောက်ျားတွေရော မိန်းမတွေပါ

and there was a bunch of men and women and they just started doing it, Mom?

တစ်အုပ်ကြီးရှိတော့ သူတို့ ဒါကို စလုပ်ရောလား မေမေ၊

Would that ever happen?"

အဲလိုရော ဖြစ်တတ်လား။"

And I said, "Oh, no, no.

ကျွန်မပြောလိုက်တာက "အိုး၊ မဟုတ်တာ

That's not how we do it."

ငါတို့တွေ အဲလို မလုပ်ကြပါဘူးကွယ်။

နောက်တော့ ကျွန်မတို့ အိမ်ပြန်ရောက်ပြီး

Then we got home and we see the cat. And she goes,

ကြောင်ကိုတွေ့တော့ သူကပြောတယ်

"Mom, how do cats do it?"

"မေမေ၊ အကြောင်တွေကျတော့ ဒါကိုဘယ်လိုလုပ်လဲ။"

ကျွန်မပြောလိုက်တာက "အိုး အတူတူပါပဲ၊

And I go, "Oh, it's the same. It's basically the same."

ပင်ကိုယ်အားဖြင့်တော့ အတူတူပဲလေ။"

And then she got all caught up in the legs. "But how would the legs go, Mom?

ဒါနဲ့ သူခြေထောက်တွေကို သတိထားမိသွားပြီး

"ဒါနဲ့ ခြေထောက်တွေက ဘယ်လိုဖြစ်သွားလဲ မေမေ၊

I don't understand the legs."

သမီးဖြင့် ခြေထောက်တွေကို နားကိုမလည်နိုင်ဘူး။"

ဆက်ပြောတာက "မေမေ လူတိုင်း

She goes, "Mom, everyone can't do the splits."

ခြေခွဲရပ်နိုင်တာမှ မဟုတ်တာ။"

And I go, "I know, but the legs ..."

and I'm probably like, "The legs get worked out."

ပြီးတော့ သူပြောတာက ဒါပေမဲ့

And she goes, "But I just can't understand it."

ခြေထောက်တွေကို နားကိုမလည်နိုင်ဘူး။"

So I go, "You know, why don't we go on the Internet,

ဒီတော့ ကျွန်မပြောတာက မင်းသိပါတယ်၊

အင်တာနက်ပေါ် သွားရအောင်၊

and maybe we can see ... like on Wikipedia." (Laughter)

So we go online, and we put in "cats mating."

"ကြောင်မိတ်လိုက်ခြင်း"လို့ ရိုက်ထည့်လိုက်တယ်။

And, unfortunately, on YouTube, there's many cats mating videos.

ဖြစ်ချင်တော့ YouTube မှာ ကြောင်မိတ်လိုက်တဲ့

ဗီဒီယိုတွေက အများကြီးလေ။

ကျွန်မတို့ ဒါတွေကို ကြည့်လိုက်ကြပြီး

And we watched them and I'm so thankful,

အရမ်းကို ကျေးဇူးတင်မိသွားတယ်၊

because she's just like, "Wow! This is so amazing."

"အား တော်တော်အံ့ဩစရာကြီးပဲ။"

She goes, "What about dogs?"

So we put in dogs mating, and,

you know, we're watching it, and she's totally absorbed.

And then she goes, "Mom,

do you think they would have, on the Internet,

any humans mating?"

ရှိလာလိမ့်မယ်လို့ မထင်ဘူးလား။"

And then I realized that

I had taken my little eight year old's hand,

and taken her right into Internet porn. (Laughter)

And I looked into this

trusting, loving face,

and I said,

"Oh, no.

အိုး၊မဟုတ်တာ၊

That would never happen."
