The goal in my life has always been to make

I was so fascinated

that I decided to learn this methodology

Soon, I started making a forest

in the backyard of my own house,

and this is how it looks after three years.

These forests,

compared to a conventional plantation,

grow 10 times faster,

ကြီးထားမှုနှုန်းဟာ ၁၀ ဆပိုမြန်ပါတယ်၊

they're 30 times more dense,

င်းတို့ဟာ အဆ ၃၀ ပိုပြီး သိပ်သည်းကြပြီး၊

and 100 times more biodiverse.

Within two years of having this forest in our backyard,

I could observe that the groundwater

the number of bird species I spotted in this area

doubled.

Quality of air became better,

လေရဲ့ အရည်အသွေး ပိုကောင်းလာတယ်၊

and we started harvesting seasonal fruits

growing effortlessly

right in the backyard of our house.

I wanted to make more of these forests.

I was so moved by these results

that I wanted to make these forests

with the same acumen with which we make cars

or write software or do any mainstream business,

so I founded a company

which is an end-to-end service provider

to create these native natural forests.

But to make afforestation as a mainstream business

the process of forest-making.

So we benchmarked the Toyota Production System

known for its quality and efficiency

for the process of forest-making.

For an example, the core of TPS,

Toyota Production System, lies in heijunka,

which is making manufacturing

We replaced these cars with trees,

using which now we can make multi-layered forests.

These forests utilize 100 percent vertical space.

အဲဒီ သစ်တောတွေဟာ ဒေါင်လိုက် နေရာတွေကို ၁၀၀ ရာခိုင်နှုန်း အသုံးချပါတယ်။

They are so dense

that one can't even walk into them.

For an example, we can make a 300-tree forest

in an area as small as the parking spaces of six cars.

In order to reduce cost and our own carbon footprint,

ကျွန်တော်တို့ဟာ အဲဒီထဲက သက်ရှိအလေးချိန်ပမာဏကို

we started utilizing local biomass

as soil amender and fertilizers.

For example, coconut shells crushed in a machine

Once planted, we use grass or rice straw

စိုက်ပေးလိုက်တဲ့ နောက်မှာ၊ ကျွန်တော်တို့ဟာ

to cover the soil

မြေကို မြက်ပင် သို့မဟုတ် ကောက်ရိုးဖြင့် ဖုံးအုပ်ပေးပါတယ်

so that all the water which goes into irrigation

သွင်းပေးလိုက်တဲ့ ရေအားလုံးဟာ

doesn't get evaporated back into the atmosphere.

လေထုထဲကို ပြန်ပြီး အငွေ့ပြန်မသွားဖို့ပါ။

And using these simple improvisations,

အဲဒီလို ရိုးရိုးလေး ကြံဆတီထွင်မှုတွေကို သုံးပြီး

today we can make a forest

ကျွန်တော်တို့ဟာ ဒီနေ့မှာ

for a cost as low as the cost of an iPhone.

သစ်တော တစ်ခုကို iPhone တစ်ခုရဲ့ ဈေးလောက်နဲ့ကို ဖန်တီးပေးနိုင်ပါတယ်။

Today, we are making forests in houses,

ဒီနေ့ဆိုရင်၊ ကျွန်တော်တို့ဟာ သစ်တောတွေကို အိမ်တွေထဲမှာ၊

in schools, even in factories with the corporates.

ကျောင်းတွေမှာ၊ ကုမ္ပဏီ စက်ရုံတွေမှာ တောင် စိုက်ပေးနေကြပါပြီ။

But that's not enough.

ဒါပေမဲ့ ဒါဟာ မလုံလောက်သေးပါဘူး။

There is a huge number of people

ကိစ္စအဝဝကို မိမိုတို့ရဲ့ လက်ထဲကို ရယူချင်ကြတဲ့

who want to take matters into their own hands.

လူတွေ အများအပြား ရှိကြပါတယ်။

So we let it happen.

အဲဒီတော့ အဲဒါကို ခွင့်ပြုပေးကြပါစို့။

Today, we are working on an Internet-based platform

ဒီနေ့မှာ ကျွန်တော်တို့ အင်တာနက်-အခြေခံ ပလက်ဖောင်းကို ပြုစုနေကြပါတယ်

where we are going to share our methodology

အဲဒီလိုနည်းဖြင့် ကျွန်တော်တို့ရဲ့ နည်းပညာကို မျှပေးလိုပါတယ်

on an open source

အခမဲ့ ဖွင့်ပေးဖို့ပါ

using which anyone and everyone

အဲဒါကို အသုံးပြုပြီး လူတိုင်းဟာ

can make their own forest

without our physical presence being there,

using our methodology.

At the click of a button,

they can get to know all the native species

By installing a small hardware probe on site,

we can do remote soil testing,

using which we can give step-by-step instructions

တစ်ဆင့်ပြီး တစ်ဆင့် လမ်းညွှန်ပေးနိုင်ကြပါမယ်။

on forest-making remotely.

Also we can monitor the growth of this forest

အဲဒါ့အပြင် ကျွန်တော်တို့ဟာ အဲဒီမှာ ရှိမနေတောင်မှ

without being on site.

သစ်တောကြီးထွားမှုကို စောင့်ကြပ်ပေးနိုင်ပါတယ်။

ဒီနည်းပညာမှာ ကြီးမားတဲ့ အလားအလာရှိတာကို

This methodology, I believe,

ကျွန်တော် ယုံကြည်ပါတယ်။ ဒါကို မျှဝေပေးခြင်းဖြင့်၊

has a potential.

By sharing, we can actually bring back our native forests.

ကျွန်တော်တို့ ဒေသရင်းသစ်တောတွေကို ပြန်ထူထောင်ပေးနိုင်ပါတယ်။

Now, when you go back home,

ခင်ဗျားတို့ အိမ်ကို ပြန်ရောက်ရင်၊

if you see a barren piece of land,

ပလပ်မြေကွက် တစ်ခုခု တွေ့မြင်ရရင်၊

do remember that it can be a potential forest.
