I'm an industrial engineer.

The goal in my life has always been to make

While working at Toyota,

all I knew was how to make cars

until I met Dr. Akira Miyawaki,

who came to our factory to make a forest in it

જે અમારી ફેક્ટરી પર જંગલ બનાવવા માટે આવ્યા હતા

in order to make it carbon-neutral.

I was so fascinated

હું એકદમ મંત્રમુગ્ધ થઇ ગયો હતો

that I decided to learn this methodology

by joining his team as a volunteer.

Soon, I started making a forest

જલ્દી, મેં જંગલ બનાવવાનું શરું કરી દીધું.

in the backyard of my own house,

મારા પોતાના ઘરનાં પાછળનાં ભાગમાં,

and this is how it looks after three years.

અને ત્રણ વર્ષ પછી તે આવું દેખાય છે.

These forests,

આ જંગલો,

compared to a conventional plantation,

પરંપરાગત રોપણની સરખામણી માં,

grow 10 times faster,

૧૦ ગણું વધારે જલ્દી વધે છે.

they're 30 times more dense,

and 100 times more biodiverse.

Within two years of having this forest in our backyard,

I could observe that the groundwater

didn't dry during summers,

the number of bird species I spotted in this area

Quality of air became better,

and we started harvesting seasonal fruits

growing effortlessly

કોઈ મેહનત વગર વધી રહ્યા હતા

right in the backyard of our house.

અમારા ઘરનાં પાછળનાં ભાગમાં જ.

I wanted to make more of these forests.

મને આવા વધું જંગલ વાવવાની ઈચ્છા થઈ.

હું તેના પરિણામ જોઇને એટલો હચમચી ગયો

I was so moved by these results

that I wanted to make these forests

કે, હું આ જંગલ એજ કુશળતાથી બનાવું

with the same acumen with which we make cars

જે ગાડી બનાવવા માટે

or write software or do any mainstream business,

અથવા સોફ્ટવેર લખવા માટે અથવા કોઈ સારા ધંધા માટે જોઈએ.

so I founded a company

એટલે ,મેં એક કંપની ખોલી

which is an end-to-end service provider

to create these native natural forests.

But to make afforestation as a mainstream business

or an industry, we had to standardize

For an example, the core of TPS,

Toyota Production System, lies in heijunka,

which is making manufacturing

We replaced these cars with trees,

These forests utilize 100 percent vertical space.

They are so dense

that one can't even walk into them.

કે એની વચ્ચે થી પણ ચાલી શકાય નહીં.

For an example, we can make a 300-tree forest

દાખલા તરીકે, આપણે ૩૦૦ વૃક્ષાવન બનાવી શકીએ છીએ

in an area as small as the parking spaces of six cars.

માત્ર ૬ ગાડીઓની પાર્કીંગ જેટલા ક્ષેત્રફળમાં.

In order to reduce cost and our own carbon footprint,

we started utilizing local biomass

as soil amender and fertilizers.

For example, coconut shells crushed in a machine

mixed with rice straw,

powder of rice husk mixed with organic manure

is finally dumped in soil on which

our forest is planted.

આ જંગલ વાવવામાં આવે છે.

Once planted, we use grass or rice straw

એકવાર વાવ્યા બાદ, અમે ઘાસ અથવા ચોખાનાં પૂડાથી

to cover the soil

જમીન ઢાંકી દઈએ છીએ

so that all the water which goes into irrigation

જેથી સિંચાઈ માટેનું પાણી

doesn't get evaporated back into the atmosphere.

And using these simple improvisations,

today we can make a forest

for a cost as low as the cost of an iPhone.

જે આઈફોનની કિંમતથી પણ ઓછું છે.

Today, we are making forests in houses,

આજે, આપણે ઘરમાં પણ વન બનાવી શકીએ છીએ

in schools, even in factories with the corporates.

સ્કૂલ તથા ફેક્ટરીમાં પણ કોર્પોરેટ્સ સાથે મળીને બનાવી શકાય.

But that's not enough.

પરંતુ આ માત્ર પૂરતું નથી.

There is a huge number of people

અહીં વધું પ્રમાણમાં લોકો છે જે

who want to take matters into their own hands.

આ બાબત જાતે હાથમાં ધારવા માંગે છે.

So we let it happen.

એટલે અમે આ વસ્તુ આગળ વધારી.

Today, we are working on an Internet-based platform

આજે, અમે ઈન્ટરનેટનાં માધ્યમથી કામ કરીએ છીએ

where we are going to share our methodology

જ્યાં અમે આ પદ્ધતિ ફેલાવીએ છીએ

on an open source

ખૂલ્લા સ્ત્રોત પર

using which anyone and everyone

જેને વાપરીને કોઈપણ અને બધા

can make their own forest

પોતાના જંગલ બનાવી શકે.

without our physical presence being there,

અમારી શારીરિક હાજરી વગર,

using our methodology.

માત્ર પદ્ધતિ દ્વારા.

At the click of a button,

they can get to know all the native species

By installing a small hardware probe on site,

This methodology, I believe,

આ પદ્ધતિમાં, હું માનું છું કે

has a potential.

શક્તિ છે.

By sharing, we can actually bring back our native forests.

જેને ફેલાવીને, અપણે સ્થાનિક જંગલ પાછા લાવી શકીએ છીએ.

Now, when you go back home,

હવે, જયારે તમે ઘરે પાછા ફરો,

if you see a barren piece of land,

do remember that it can be a potential forest.
