It's great being here at TED.

زۆر دڵخۆشم کە لە TEDم،

You know, I think there might be some presentations

دەزانن، پێم وایە هەندێک پێشکەشکردن هەبێت

that will go over my head,

but the most amazing concepts

بەڵام سەرنجڕاکێشترین چەمکەکان

are the ones that go right under my feet.

The little things in life,

sometimes that we forget about,

like pollination, that we take for granted.

And you can't tell the story about pollinators --

I've been filming time-lapse flowers

24 hours a day, seven days a week,

for over 35 years.

To watch them move

is a dance I'm never going to get tired of.

It fills me with wonder, and it opens my heart.

Beauty and seduction, I believe,

is nature's tool for survival,

because we will protect what we fall in love with.

Their relationship

is a love story that feeds the Earth.

It reminds us that we are a part of nature,

When I heard about the vanishing bees, Colony Collapse Disorder,

it motivated me to take action.

We depend on pollinators

ئێمە پشت بە ھەڵاڵە گوازەرەوەکان دەبەستین

for over a third of the fruits and vegetables we eat.

And many scientists believe

و زۆر لە زاناکان باوەڕیان وایە

it's the most serious issue facing mankind.

It's like the canary in the coalmine.

وەک کەنارى وایە کە لەناو قەفەس لە مەترسیدایە

If they disappear, so do we.

It reminds us that we are a part of nature

بیرمان دەخاتەوە ئێمە بەشێکین لە سروشت.

and we need to take care of it.

و پێویستە بە ھەندی وەربگرین.

What motivated me to film their behavior

ئەوەی کە ھانی دام بۆ ئەوەی ڕەفتارەکانیان تۆمار بکەم

was something that I asked my scientific advisers:

شتێک بوو واى لێکردم پرسیار لە زاناکان بکەم

"What motivates the pollinators?"

چ شتێک ھانی ھەڵاڵە گوێزەرەوەکان دەدات؟

Well, their answer was,

باشە، وەڵامەکەیان ئەوە بوو

"It's all about risk and reward."

"ئەمە ھەمووی دەربارەی سەرکێشی و خەڵاتە"

Like a wide-eyed kid, I'd say, "Why is that?"

وەک ئەوەى منداڵیک چاوى زەق بکاتەوە، منیش بڵێم،"بۆچی ئەوھا؟"

And they'd say, "Well, because they want to survive."

و وتیان،"باشە، چونکە دەیانەوێ بژین."

I go, "Why?"

بەردەوام دەبم،"بۆچی؟"

"Well, in order to reproduce."

"باشە، بۆ ئەوەی وەچە بخەنەوە."

"Well, why?"

"باشە، بۆچی."

And I thought that they'd probably say, "Well, it's all about sex."

و بیرم کردەوە ئەوان دەڵێن،"باشە، ئەوە هەمووى دەربارەى سێکسە."

And Chip Taylor, our monarch butterfly expert,

و چیپ تایلەر، شارەزایی پەپولەى مۆنارچ

he replied, "Nothing lasts forever.

وەڵامی داوە،" ھیچ شتێک تا سەر نامێنێتەوە.

Everything in the universe wears out."

هەموو شتێک لە جیهاندا لەناو دەچێت.

And that blew my mind.

سەڕسورهێنەرە.

Because I realized

چونکە بۆم دەرکەوت

that nature had invented reproduction

کە سروشت داهێنەرى ئەو وەچەخستنەوەیە

as a mechanism for life to move forward,

وەک شێوازێک بۆ پەرەپێشخستنى ژیان،

as a life force that passes right through us

وەک هێزى ژیان کە لە رێی ئێمەوە تیپەر دەبێت

and makes us a link in the evolution of life.

و وامان لێدەکات کە گەشەسەندى ژیان پەیوەست بین.

Rarely seen by the naked eye,

بە دەگمەن بە چاوى ئاسایی دەبینرێن،

this intersection

ئەو فێرکارییە

between the animal world and the plant world

لە نێوان جیهاتى ئاژەڵەکان و جیهانى رووەک

is truly a magic moment.

بەڕاستى ئەوە ساتێکى جادووییە.

It's the mystical moment

بەراستى ساتێکى لەبیرنەکراوە

where life regenerates itself,

کە ژیان خۆی نوێ دەکاتەوە،

over and over again.

دووبارە و دووبارە.

So here is some nectar from my film.

کەواتە ئەوەتانێ هەندێک لە شیللەی فیلمەکەم

I hope you'll drink, tweet

هیوادارم بیخۆنەوە،

and plant some seeds

هەندێک تۆو بچێنن

to pollinate a friendly garden.

بۆ پیتاندنى باخچەیەکى رازاوە.

And always take time to smell the flowers,

و هەمیشە کات تەرخان بکەین بۆ بۆنکردنى گوڵەکان،

and let it fill you with beauty,

و پڕت بکات لە جوانى،

and rediscover that sense of wonder.
