Everything is interconnected.

વિશ્વ માં બધુજ એક બીજા સાથે જોડાયેલું છે .

As a Shinnecock Indian, I was raised to know this.

શીન્કોક ઇન્ડિયન હોવાથી , મને નાનપણ થીજ આ સમજવામાં આવ્યું હતું .

We are a small fishing tribe

અમારી માછીમારની નાની જાતિ છે.

situated on the southeastern tip of Long Island

એ દક્ષિણ પશ્ચિમ માં આવેલા એક મોટા ટાપુ ને છેડે આવેલી છે

near the town of Southampton in New York.

જે ન્યુયોર્કમાં સાઉથમ્પ્તોન ગામ ની નજીક છે

When I was a little girl,

હું જયારે નાની છોકરી હતી ત્યારે ,

my grandfather took me to sit outside in the sun on a hot summer day.

મારા દાદા મને ઉનાળાના , ગરમીના દિવસોમાં બહાર તડકામાં બેસાડતા હતા

There were no clouds in the sky.

આકાશમાં એક પણ વાદળો ન્હોતા

And after a while I began to perspire.

અને થોડી વારમાં મને પસીનો થવા લાગ્યો

And he pointed up to the sky, and he said,

અને ત્યારે મારા દાદાએ આકાશ તરફ આંગળી ચીંધીને કહ્યું ,

"Look, do you see that?

"જો,તને એ દખાય છે?

That's part of you up there.

ત્યાં તારોજ એક ભાગ છે

That's your water that helps to make the cloud

એ તારું પાણી છે (પસીનો )જે વાદળ બનાવામાં મદદ કરે છે

that becomes the rain that feeds the plants

હવે તે વરસાદ બનશે અને વ્રુક્ષો ને પોષણ આપશે,

that feeds the animals."

તે પ્રાણીઓ ને પોષણ આપશે"

In my continued exploration of subjects in nature

આ રીતે હું સતત કુદરત વિષય બહોળા પ્રમાણમાં જાણતી ગઈ

that have the ability to illustrate the interconnection of all life,

અને તેથી મારામાં, જીવન એકબીજા સાથે કેવી રીતે જોડાયેલું છે તેની સમજ પડવા લાગી

I started storm chasing in 2008

મેં ૨૦૦૮ ૯થી વાવાઝોડા ને ચકાસવાનું શરૂ કર્યું

after my daughter said, "Mom, you should do that."

જયારે મારી દીકરીએ મને કહ્યું પછી કે "મોમ ,તમારે આ ચોક્કસ કરવું જોઈએ "

And so three days later, driving very fast,

અને એટલે 3 દિવસ પછી , ઘણું ઝડપથી ડ્રાઈવ કરી મેં ,

I found myself stalking a single type of giant cloud called the super cell,

મને ખુબજ વિશાળ એવા એક વાદળ , જેને મહા કોષ કહેવામાં આવે છે ત્યાં લઇ ગઈ ,

capable of producing grapefruit-size hail

જે દ્રાક્ષ ફળ જેવડા મોટા ટીપા(હેઈલ ) પેદા કરી શકે છે

and spectacular tornadoes,

અને ખુબ મોટી આંધી,

although only two percent actually do.

જો કે આવું હકીકત માં 2%જ વખત બને છે .

These clouds can grow so big, up to 50 miles wide

આ વાદળો એટલા બધા મોટા બની શકે છે કે , ૫૦ માઈલ જેટલા પહોળા

and reach up to 65,000 feet into the atmosphere.

અને વાતાવરણમાં ૬૫૦૦૦ ફૂટ ઊંચે સુધી પહોચી જાય છે

They can grow so big, blocking all daylight,

તે એટલા મોટા બને છે કે , દિવસના પ્રકાશ ને રોકી પાડે છે ,

making it very dark and ominous standing under them.

એકદમ ઘેરું અંધારું થઇ જાય છે અને તેની નીચે ઉભા રેહવું ડર લાગે તેવું લાગે છે

Storm chasing is a very tactile experience.

વાવાઝોડાને ચકાસવાનો ઘણો રોમાંચક અનુભવ છે

There's a warm, moist wind blowing at your back

જેમાં ગરમ ,ભેજ વાળી હવા તમારી પાછળ થી વાઈ છે

and the smell of the earth, the wheat, the grass, the charged particles.

અને માટીની સુગંધ ,આ ઘાસ આ વ્રુક્ષો હવામાં ઉડતા રજકણો ,

And then there are the colors in the clouds

અને પછી આંધી લાવતા વાદળમાં છવાતા રંગો ,

of hail forming, the greens and the turquoise blues.

લીલા અને ઘેરા વાદળી .

I've learned to respect the lightning.

હું આ વીજળી નો આદર કરતા શીખી

My hair used to be straight.

મારા વાળ હમેશા સીધા હોઈ છે .

(Laughter)

હાસ્ય

I'm just kidding.

હું માત્ર મજાક કરું છુ

(Laughter)

What really excites me about these storms

આ વાવાઝોડા માં જે મને ખરેખર ઉતેજીત કરેછે

is their movement, the way they swirl and spin and undulate,

તેની દોડાદોડી ,તે જે રીતે વળાંક લેછે , ચકરાઓ લે છે અને ઉડે છે,

with their lava lamp-like mammatus clouds.

તે આકર્ષક આકાર ના વાદળોની સાથે .

They become lovely monsters.

તેઓ ઘણાજ મોટા મોહક રાક્ષસ બની જાય છે

When I'm photographing them,

જયારે હું તેના ફોટો લઉં છુ ત્યારે,

I cannot help but remember my grandfather's lesson.

હું મદદ નથી કરી સકતી પણ હું મારા દાદા એ શીખવેલા પાઠો યાદ કરું છુ

As I stand under them,

હું તેની નીચે ઉભી રહી શકું છુ ,કારણ કે

I see not just a cloud,

હું ફક્ત વાદળ ને જ નથી જોતી ,

but understand that what I have the privilege to witness

પણ સમજુ છુ કે મને સાક્ષી થવાનો મોકો મળ્યો

is the same forces, the same process in a small-scale version

સરખોજ જોશ છે , એજ પ્રક્રિયા નું નાનું રૂપ છે

that helped to create our galaxy, our solar system, our sun

જે આપણી આકાશ ગંગા (ગેલેક્ષી ) ,આપણી સોલાર સીસ્ટમ ,આપણો સૂર્ય, બનાવામાં મદદ કરે છે

and even this very planet.

અને આ આપણો ગ્રહ ,પૃથ્વી .
