I was here about four years ago,

talking about the relationship of design and happiness.

At the very end of it, I showed a list under that title.

I learned very few things in addition since

but made a whole number of them into projects since.

These are inflatable monkeys in every city in Scotland:

ئەمانە مەیمونی هەڵوەشانەوەن لە هەموو شارێکی سکۆتلەندا:

"Everybody always thinks they are right."

" ھەمووان پێیان واییە ئەوان ڕاستن”

They were combined in the media.

لە ڕاگەیاندنەکان تێکەڵکران.

"Drugs are fun in the beginning but become a drag later on."

“سەرخۆشەکان سەرەتا دڵخۆشن بەڵام دواتر دەبن بە ئاڵوودە بوو”

We're doing changing media.

کاردەکەین میدیا دەگۆڕین.

This is a projection that can see the viewer

ئەمە پرۆژەیەکە کە بینەر دەتوانێت بیبینێت

as the viewer walks by.

وەک تەماشاکەرەکە پیاسە دەکات.

You can't help but actually ripping that spider web apart.

تۆ ناتوانیت یارمەتی بدەیت بەڵام لە ڕاستیدا دەتوانی ئەو تۆڕە جاڵجاڵۆکەیە پارچە بکەیت.

All of these things are pieces of graphic design.

هەموو ئەو شتانە پارچەی دیزاینی گرافیکن.

We do them for our clients.

They are commissioned.

ڕاسپێردراون.

I would never have the money to actually pay for the installment

من هەرگیز ئەو پارەیەم نابێت کە پارەی قیستەکە بدەم

or pay for all the billboards or the production of these,

یان پارەی هەموو بیلبۆردەکان یان بەرهەمهێنانی ئەمانە دەدات

so there's always a client attached to them.

These are 65,000 coat hangers in a street

ئەوانە ٦٥ ھەزار ھەڵواسراوی پانتۆڵن لە شەقامێکدا

that's lined with fashion stores.

کە لەگەڵ کۆگا مۆدەکان ڕیزکراون.

"Worrying solves nothing."

“نیگەرانی ھیچ چارەسەر ناکات”

"Money does not make me happy"

“پارە دڵخۆشم ناکات”

appeared first as double-page spreads in a magazine.

یەکەم دەرکەوتن وەک بڵاوبونەوەی دوو لاپەڕە لە گۆڤارێکدا.

The printer lost the file, didn't tell us.

چاپکەرەکە فایلەکەی لەدەست دا، پێمان نەگوت.

When the magazine -- actually, when I got the subscription --

کاتێک گۆڤارەکە... لەڕاستیدا کاتێک بەشداریم کرد...

it was 12 following pages.

ئەوە دوانزە لاپەڕەی خوارەوە بوو.

It said, "Money does does make me happy."

گووتی “پارە من دڵخۆش دەکات”

And a friend of mine in Austria felt so sorry for me

هاوڕێیەکیشم لە نەمسا زۆر هەست بە پەشیمانی کرد بۆ من

that he talked the largest casino owner in Linz

کە ئەو باسی گەورەترین خاوەنی گازینۆی کرد لە لینز

into letting us wrap his building.

بۆ ئەوەی ڕێگەمان پێ بدات بیناکەی بپێچینەوە.

So this is the big pedestrian zone in Linz.

کەواتە ئەمە ناوچەی گەورەی پیادەیە لە لینز.

It just says "Money," and if you look down the side street,

تەنھا دەڵێت: “پارە“، و ئەگەر سەیری خوارەوەی شەقامەکە بکەیت،

it says, "does not make me happy."

بڵێت “پارە من دڵخۆش ناکات”

We had a show that just came down last week in New York.

ئێمە نمایشێکمان هەبوو کە هەفتەی ڕابردوو ھاتە نیویۆرک.

We steamed up the windows permanently,

ئێمە پەنجەرەکانمان وەک هەمیشە هەڵم دەکات،

and every hour we had a different designer come in

وە هەر کاتژمێرێک دیزاینەرێکی جیاوازمان هەبوو کە هاتینە ژوورەوە

and write these things that they've learned into the steam in the window.

وە ئەو شتانە بنووسە کە فێری هەڵم بوونت دەکات لە پەنجەرەکە.

Everybody participated -- Milton Glaser,

ھەمووان بەشدارییان کرد... میڵتۆن گلێسەر،

Massimo Vignelli.

ماسیمۆ ڤیگنێلی.

Singapore was quite in discussion.

سەنگاپور بە تەواوی لە گفتوگۆدا بوو.

This is a little spot that we filmed there

ئەمە جێگایەکی بچووکە کە لەوێ فیلممان کردووە

that's to be displayed on the large JumboTrons in Singapore.

کە دەبێت لەسەر جامبۆترۆنە گەورەکان لە سەنگاپور پیشان بدرێت

And, of course, it's one that's dear to my heart,

بە دڵنیاییەوە ئەوە خۆشەویستە بۆ دڵم،

because all of these sentiments --

چونکە هەموو ئەو هەستانە…

some banal, some a bit more profound --

ھەندێک بێ بایەخ و ھەندێک بە بایەخ...

all originally had come out of my diary.

هەمووی لە بنەڕەتدا لە بیرەوەرییەکەم دەرهاتبوون.

And I do go often into the diary

وە من زۆر جار دەچمە ناو بیرەوەرییەوە

and check if I wanted to change something about the situation.

وە دەپشکنم ئەگەر بمەوێت شتێک بگۆڕم دەربارەی دۆخەکە.

If it's -- see it for a long enough time,

ئەگەر ئەوە... بۆ ماوەییەکی درێژ بیبینین،

I actually do something about it.

بەڕاستی شتێک دەکەین دەربارەی ئەوە.

And the very last one is a billboard.

وە کۆتاییان تەختەی ئاگادارییەکە.

This is our roof in New York, the roof of the studio.

ئەمە سەربانی ئێمەییە لە نیویۆڕک، سەربانی ستۆدیۆکەمان.

This is newsprint plus stencils that lie on the newsprint.

ئەمە چاپێکی هەواڵە لەگەڵ کاغەزەکان کە لەسەر چاپە هەواڵییەکە درۆ دەکەن.

ڕێگەی دەدەین بە دەوری خۆردا دایبنێین.

We let that lie around in the sun.

As you all know, newsprint yellows significantly in the sun.

وەک هەمووتان دەزانن، چاپەهەواڵە زەردەکان بە شێوەیەکی بەرچاو لە بەر خۆرن.

After a week, we took the stencils and the leaves off,

دوای هەفتەیەک کاغەز و گەڵاکانمان هەڵدا،

shipped the newsprints to Lisbon to a very sunny spot,

چاپە هەواڵییەکانی بۆ لیسبۆن بۆ شوێنێکی زۆر خۆرەتاو،

so on day one the billboard said,

کەواتە لە رۆژێکدا بیلبۆردەکە وتی،

"Complaining is silly. Either act or forget."

“گلەیی کردن زۆر ھەیە. یان کردار یان لەبیرچووە”

Three days later it faded, and a week later,

سێ ڕۆژ دواتر کاڵبووەوە و هەفتەیەک دواتر،

no more complaining anywhere.

چیتر لە هیچ شوێنێک گلەیی ناکات.
