I was here about four years ago,

چوار ساڵ پئش ئێستا لێرە بووم،

talking about the relationship of design and happiness.

At the very end of it, I showed a list under that title.

I learned very few things in addition since

but made a whole number of them into projects since.

These are inflatable monkeys in every city in Scotland:

ئەم مەیمونە کە دەکرێت ھەوایی تێبکرێت لە ھەموو شارێکی سکۆتلاند ھەیە:

"Everybody always thinks they are right."

ھەموو کەسێک ھەست دەکات کە ئەو ڕاستە.

They were combined in the media.

"Drugs are fun in the beginning but become a drag later on."

We're doing changing media.

This is a projection that can see the viewer

ئەم ڕونمایە، ئەو کەسانەی کە سەیری ڕونمایەکە دەکەن دەبینێت

as the viewer walks by.

کاتێک بە لای تێدەپەڕن.

You can't help but actually ripping that spider web apart.

ناتوانیت ھیچ بکەیت جگە لە ھەڵزرانی تۆری جاڵجاڵۆکەکە

All of these things are pieces of graphic design.

We do them for our clients.

They are commissioned.

I would never have the money to actually pay for the installment

or pay for all the billboards or the production of these,

so there's always a client attached to them.

These are 65,000 coat hangers in a street

زیاتر لە شەست و پێنج ھەزار شوێنی ھەڵواسینی پاڵتۆ لە شەقامەکان ھەیە

that's lined with fashion stores.

کە لە ڕێزی کۆگاکانی فاشییۆن ڕێز کراون.

"Worrying solves nothing."

"دڵەڕاوکێ ھیچ شتێک چارەسەر ناکات."

"Money does not make me happy"

"پارە دڵم خۆش ناکات"

appeared first as double-page spreads in a magazine.

بۆشاییەکی گەورەی لە گۆڤارەکە بۆ تەرخان کرا بوو.

The printer lost the file, didn't tell us.

پرێنتەرەکە فایلەکەی ون کرد بوو. پێمانی نه‌گوتبوو.

When the magazine -- actually, when I got the subscription --

کاتێک گۆڤارە چاپکراوەکەم بە دەست گەیشت

it was 12 following pages.

دوانزە پەڕ بوو.

It said, "Money does does make me happy."

"نووسرا بوو: "پارە زۆر زۆر دڵخۆشم دەکات

And a friend of mine in Austria felt so sorry for me

ھاوڕێیەکەم لە نەمسا خەمی بۆ خواردم

that he talked the largest casino owner in Linz

لەگەڵ گەورەترین خاوەن گازینۆ لە لینز قسە دەکات

into letting us wrap his building.

بۆ ئەوەی باڵاخانەکەی بۆ بپێچینەوە.

So this is the big pedestrian zone in Linz.

ئەم شوێنە ناوچەیەکی گرنگی پیادەیە لە لینز.

It just says "Money," and if you look down the side street,

دەڵێت،" پارە،" ئەگەر لە لایەکەوە سەیری شەقامەکە بکەیت

it says, "does not make me happy."

"نووسراوە پارە دڵخۆشم ناکات."

We had a show that just came down last week in New York.

ھەفتە ڕابردوو نمایشەکمان لە نیو یۆڕک ھەبوو.

We steamed up the windows permanently,

پەنجەرەکانمان بە هەڵم کرد،

and every hour we had a different designer come in

ھەر کاتژمێرێک، دیزاینەرێک دەھات

and write these things that they've learned into the steam in the window.

ئەو شتانەی دەنووسی کە لە ھەڵمی سەر پەنجەرەکان دەیانخوێندەوە.

Everybody participated -- Milton Glaser,

ھەمووان بەشدار بوون- میڵتۆن گلاسیر،

Massimo Vignelli.

ماسیمۆ ڤینیالی.

Singapore was quite in discussion.

باسی سینگاپورەش کرا.

This is a little spot that we filmed there

ئەو شوێنە بچووکەی کە لەوێ تۆمارمان کرد

that's to be displayed on the large JumboTrons in Singapore.

لە جامبۆترۆنس لە سینگاپورە نمایش دەکرێت.

And, of course, it's one that's dear to my heart,

بە دڵنیایەوە، لە سەر دڵم ئەزیزە،

because all of these sentiments --

بەھۆی ئەم ھەموو ھەستانە

some banal, some a bit more profound --

ھەندێکیان سادە بوون، ھەندێکیان قووڵ

all originally had come out of my diary.

ھەموویان لە یادەوەری من سەرچاوەیان گرتبوو.

And I do go often into the diary

زوو زوو بۆ یادەوەریەکانم دەگەڕێمەوە

and check if I wanted to change something about the situation.

بۆ ئەوەی بزانم کە ئایا دەمویست شتێک لە بارودۆخەکە بگۆڕم.

If it's -- see it for a long enough time,

ئەگەر ھەبێت، بە باشی سەیری دەکەم

I actually do something about it.

و شتێک دەربارەی دەکەم.

And the very last one is a billboard.

كۆتاهه‌مینیان بۆردێكی ڕیكلامه‌.

This is our roof in New York, the roof of the studio.

ئەمە بنمێچە ستۆدیۆکەمانە لە نیو یۆڕک.

This is newsprint plus stencils that lie on the newsprint.

ئەم ھێلکارییانە لەو سەر پەڕەی ڕۆژنامەکان دانراون.

لە ژێر تیشکی خۆر دامانناوە.

We let that lie around in the sun.

As you all know, newsprint yellows significantly in the sun.

وەک دەزانن پەڕی ڕۆژنامەکان بەھۆی تیشکی خۆر ڕەنگیان زەرد دەبێت.

دوای ھەفتەیەک ھێلکارییەکان و گەڵاکانمان لێ کردەوە،

After a week, we took the stencils and the leaves off,

shipped the newsprints to Lisbon to a very sunny spot,

و ڕۆژنامەکانمان بۆ شوێنی بەریەکەوتن لەگەڵ تیشکی خۆر لە لیشبۆنە نارد،

so on day one the billboard said,

لە ڕۆژی یەکەم، بۆڕدی ریکلامەکان دەڵێن

"Complaining is silly. Either act or forget."

"تێڕمانین بێ سوودە، یان شتێک بکە یان لە یادی بکە."

Three days later it faded, and a week later,

سێ ڕۆژ دواتر، نووسینەکە نامێنێت، هه‌فته‌یه‌ك دواتر،

no more complaining anywhere.

چیتر تێڕمانین لە ھیچ شوێنێک نییە.
