Good afternoon.

My name is Uldus.

لەگەڵ ڕەسمی کۆمیدی کەسی

I am a photo-based artist from Russia.

بۆ پێشاندانی کۆمەڵێک وێنەی سادە

I started my way around six years ago

دەربارەی نەتەوایەتی, ڕەگەزەکان,

with ironic self-portraits

لەگەل کێشە کۆمەڵایەتیەکان —

to lay open so many stereotypes

[“ڕوسیم.مادەی ھۆشبەر،چەک،مناڵ ئەفرۆشم!“] [“ڤۆدکا=ئاو.حەزم لە ڤۆدکایە!“]

about nationalities, genders,

[“ھاوسەرگیریم لەگەڵ بکە، پێویستم بە ڤیزایە.“]

and social issues —

ئەمڕۆ، ئێستاش من لە پێش کامێرام

["I am Russian. I sell drugs, guns, porno with kids!"] ["Vodka = water. I love vodka!"] (Laughter) —

و ھەوڵ ئەدەم بەھێزبم وەکو ژنێکی ئازا.

using photography as my tool to send a message. ["Marry me, I need a visa."]

سەرنجم لەسەر ناردنی پەیامێکی واتابەخشە

Today, I am still performing in front of the camera

جوانی، قەشەنگی، ئاواز دانان، کەمێک ھەزەلی، وە دروستکراوی ھونەری.

and trying to be brave like Wonder Woman.

I focus on balancing meaningful message,

ئەمڕۆ، ئەمەوێت دەربارەی پڕۆژەکەم قسە بکەم،

aesthetic, beauty, composition, some irony, and artifacts.

کە ناوی ڕۆمانسیەتی بێ ئومێدە.

Today, I'm going to tell you about my project,

ڕافایلیەتەکانی پێشووی ئینگلاند

which is named Desperate Romantics.

They're my artifacts, or paintings

من ئەم وێنەیەم ھەڵگرتووە

from pre-Raphaelites Brotherhood England

واتایەکی سەردەمیم پێبەخشیووە

قسەکردن لەسەر ئەو کێشانەی کە دەوری منی داووە

mid-19th century.

I took the painting

لە ڕوسیادا،

and gifted new, contemporary meaning

دیلکردنی ئەوانەی بەناوبانگ نین

talking about issues which are surrounding me

بەڵام چیڕۆکێکی سەرسوڕھێنەریان ھەیە.

ئەوە کوڕە سەماکەرێکی لێھاتووە،

in Russia,

capturing people who are non-models

تەمەنی تەنھا ١٢ ساڵە،

بەڵام لە قوتابخانەی سەرەتای، ئەو

but have an interesting story.

ماسکی دڵڕەقی ئەپۆشێت،

This boy is a professional dancer,

only 12 years old,

ھەوڵی ئەدا تەواو یەکگرتوو بێت لەگەڵ ھەموو ھاوپۆلەکانی

but at secondary school, he hides his dancing classes

وەکو سەربازێکی نادیاری نازی کە دیارنیە کێیە.

and is wearing the mask of brutality,

ئەو کوڕە ئامانج و خەونی ھەیە

trying to be united with the rest of his classmates

بەڵام ئەشارێتەوە لە ترسی قبوڵنەکردنی لەلایەن کۆمەڵگاووە،

like a storm trooper has no personality.

چونکە جیاواز بوون ئاسان نیە ،

But this boy has goals and dreams

بەتایبەت لە ڕوسیا.

but hides it to be socially accepted,

وێنەی دواتر لێکدانەوەیەکی ڕێک و پێکی ھەیە

because being different isn't easy,

ئەوە نیکیتایە،

پاسەوانی سەلامەتیە لە یەکێک لە مەیخانەکاندا

especially in Russia.

Next portrait interpretation is metaphoric.

لە شەقامی پیتەرسبرگ.

حەزی لەوەیە بڵێت،” ئەتەوێت من توڕە بکەیت،”

And this is Nikita,

a security guard from one of the bars

وەکو بەشێکی وەرگیراوی فیلمەکە،

بەڵام ھەرگیز نەمبینیووە بە توڕەی.

in St. Petersburg.

ئەو ھەستەکانی لایەنە ڕۆمانسیەکەی دەشارێتەووە،

He likes to say, "You wouldn't like me when I'm angry,"

چونکە لە ڕوسیا، لەنێوان کوڕەکاندا،

quoting Hulk from the movie,

شتێکی باش نیە ڕۆمانسی بیت.

but I've never seen him angry.

بەڵام شتێکی باشە کاتێک دەورت پڕی ئافرەتە

He hides his sensitivities and romantic side,

وە وەکو کەسیێکی شەڕانی دەربکەویت.

because in Russia, among guys,

(پێکەنین)

that's not cool to be romantic,

ھەندێک کات، لە پڕۆژەکەمدا،

but it's cool to be surrounded with women

من حەز ئەکەم وێنەیەک بگرم

and look like an aggressive hulk.

وە واتای تازەی پێ ببەخشم

(Laughter)

کە وەسوەسەو ھەڵخەزلەداندنی تێدابێت.

Sometimes, in my project,

ھەندێک جار،

I would take the painting

and give it new meaning

یاریکردن بە وشەکان:

and new temptation about it.

گاڵتەجاڕی، پیاوی ئوتوو، پیاوی ئاسنین.

Sometimes, I would compare facial features

(پێکەنین)

and playing with words:

irony, Iron Man, ironing man.

لەو دروستکراوە ھونەریەم،

کێشەیەکی کۆمەڵایەتیم پیشان داوە

کە دەوری داوم لەڕوسیا

(Laughter)

شتێکی سەرنجڕاکێش دەربارەی ھاوسەرگیری لە ڕوسیا،

Through the artifacts,

I bring social issues

زۆربەی کچە 18,ەو 19 ساڵەکان

which surround me in Russia into the conversation.

ئامادەن،و خەون بە ھاوسەرگیریەوە ئەبینن.

Interesting fact about marriage in Russia,

ئێمە لە مناڵیەوە فێرکراوین،

that most of the 18, 19-year-old girls

ھاوسەرگیریەکی سەرکەوتوو واتا ژیانێکی سەرکەوتوو،

بۆیە زۆربەی کچەکان وەکو بڵێی شەڕ ئەکەن

are already ready, and dream to get married.

بۆ بەدەستھێنانی ھاوسەرێکی باش.

We're taught from childhood,

successful marriage means successful life,

وە چی دەربارەی من ؟

من ٢٧ ساڵم.

so most of the girls kind of fight

بۆ کۆمەڵگەی ڕوسی، من قەیرەیەکی گەورەم

to get a good husband.

بێ ھیوا لەوەی ھەرگیز ھاوسەرگیری بکەم.

And what about me?

I'm 27 years old.

بۆیە ئێستا من بە ڕوپۆشی جەنگاوەری مەکسیکیەوەم،

For Russian society, I'm an old maid

بە جلی ھاوسەرگیریەوە، تەواو بێ ئومێد لە ناو باخچەکەمدا.

and hopeless to ever get married.

بەڵام لەبیرت بێت، گاڵتەکردن کلیلێکە،

That's why you see me in a Mexican fighter mask,

ئەوە لە ڕاستیدا بۆ ھاندانی کچانە

in the wedding dress, all desperate in my garden.

بۆ جانگان لەپێناو ئامانجەکانیان،خەونەکانیان،

وە گۆڕینی وێنە سادەکان.

But remember, irony is the key,

and this is actually to motivate girls

ئازابە. گاڵتەچی بە — یارمەتیدەر دەبێت.

to fight for goals, for dreams,

دڵخۆشبە و موعجیزە درستبکە .

and change stereotypes.
