On the flight here,

ဒီကိုလာတော့ လေယာဉ်ပေါ်မှာ

I was reminded about my mom.

ကျွန်တော့အမေကို သတိရပေးခံခဲ့ရတယ်။

I'm a self-taught cellist, I've never had a lesson.

ကျွန်တော်က ကိုယ်တိုင်သင် တယောသမားပါ၊ သင်တန်းမတက်ဖူးဘူး။

I studied double bass, but I just picked up the cello and started playing

because I love doing it.

But my mom was an inspiration to me.

I did not realize she was an inspiration,

သူမဟာ စေ့ဆော်ချက် ဖြစ်ခဲ့တာကို မသိခဲ့ဘူး။

because she got her music degree through a mail-order course,

အကြောင်းက သူမဟာ ဂီတဘွဲကို စာပေးစာယူကနေ ရခဲ့တာကြောင့်ပါ။

the US School of Music.

While raising two kids,

ကလေးနှစ်ယောက်ကို ပျိုးထောင်ရင်း

she received a lesson a week in the mail,

စာတိုက်ကနေ တစ်ပတ်ကို သင်ခန်းစာ တစ်ခုယူကာ

and practiced.

လေ့ကျင့်ခဲ့တယ်။

And at the end of a couple of years, she put on a recital.

And I'll be 50 this month, and it took me that long to realize

that she was that big of an inspiration.
