Jakob Trollback: Rethinking the music video

I’m working a lot with motion and animation,

لەگەڵ جوڵە و ئەنیمەیشندا زۆر کاردەکەم،

and also I'm an old DJ and a musician.

هەروەها ئالەتێکی مۆسیقای کۆن، مۆسیقاژەنم.

ڤیدیۆی مۆسیقا شتێکە هەمیشە ئارەزووم لێی بووە،

So, music videos are something that I always found interesting,

بەڵام هەمیشە وا دەردەکەون کە زۆر کاردانەوەیان هەبێت.

but they always seem to be so reactive.

So I was thinking, can you remove us as creators

بیرم دەکردەوە، دەتوانێت ئێمە وەک دروستکراو لابەرێت،

هەوڵ بدا مۆسیقاکە ببێتە دەنگ و

and try to make the music be the voice

ئەنیمەیشنەکە بەدوایدا بێت.

and have the animation following it?

لەگەڵ دوو دیزاینەر; تۆلگا و کریستینا، لە ئۆفیسەکەم، پلانێکمان دانا.

So with two designers, Tolga and Christina, at my office, we took a track --

many of you probably know it. It’s about 25 years old,

زۆربەتان لەوانەیە بزانن. ئەوە نزیکەی 25 ساڵە،

and it's David Byrne and Brian Eno --

دەیڤد بیرن و برایان ئینۆ

and we did this little animation.

و ئێمە کەمێک ئەنیمەیشنمان کرد.

And I think that it's maybe interesting, also,

پێم وایە، لەوانەیە سەرنجڕاکێش بێت،

that it deals with two problematic issues,

هەروەها لەگەڵ دوو کێشە مامەڵە دەکات،

which are rising waters and religion.

ئەوانیش بەرزبوونەوەی ئاو و ئاینن.

Song: Before God destroyed the people on the Earth,

گۆرانی; پێش ئەوەی خودا خەڵکی سەر زەوی لەناو ببات،

he warned Noah to build an Ark.

نوحی ئاگادار کردەوە کە کەشتییەک دروست بکات.

And after Noah built his Ark,

دوای ئەوەی نوح کەشتییەکەی درووست کرد،

I believe he told Noah to warn the people

پێم وایە بە نوحی گووتبوو خەڵک ئاگادار بکاتەوە،

that they must change all their wicked ways

دەبێت هەموو ڕێگا خراپەکانیان بگۆڕن،

before he come upon them and destroy them.

پێش ئەوەی خودا لەناویان ببات.

کاتێک نوح کەشتیەکەی دروست کرد،

And when Noah had done built his Ark,

زانیم کە کەسێک دەستی کردبوو بە گۆرانی.

I understand that somebody began to rend a song.

And the song began to move on I understand like this.

گۆرانیەکە دەستیپێکرد و بە شێوەیەک تێیگەیشتم.

And when Noah had done built his Ark ...

کاتێک نوح کەشتیەکەی دروست کرد،

Move on ... In fact ... Concern ...

جوڵان..لەڕاستیدا...پەیوەندی..

So they get tired, has come dark and rain; they get weary and tired.

ئەوان ماندوو دەبن، تاریک و باران بارین و ماندووبوون.

پاشان ڕۆیشت و لە دەرگای ماڵی خانمێکی بەتەمەنی دا.

And then he went and knocked an old lady house.

And old lady ran to the door and say, "Who is it?"

خانمە پیرەکە ڕایکرد بۆ لای دەرگاکە و گوتی: کێیە؟

Jack say, "Me, Mama-san, could we spend the night here?

جاک دەڵێت، “من، مامما سان، دەتوانین شەو لێرە بەسەر ببەین؟

Because we’re far from home, we’re very tired."

چونکە لە ماڵەوە دوورین و زۆر ماندووین“.

And the old lady said, "Oh yes, come on in."

خانمە پیرەکە گوتی: ” بەڵێ، وەرنە ژوورەوە“.

It was come dark and rain, will make you weary and tired.

باران و تاریک بوو، ماندوو دەبوویت.
