When I was 14 years old,

我十四歲嘅時候，我好自卑

I had low self-esteem.

I felt I was not talented at anything.

我覺得我冇任何天份

One day, I bought a yo-yo.

有一日，我買咗個搖搖

When I tried my first trick, it looked like this:

當我嘗試第一個招式嘅時候

佢睇起嚟好似咁

(Laughter)

（笑聲）

I couldn't even do the simplest trick,

我連最簡單嘅招式都唔識

but it was very natural for me,

不過呢個對我嚟講係好自然嘅事

because I was not dextrous, and hated all sports.

因為我手腳唔靈活，而且好憎運動

But after one week of practicing,

但係，經過一個禮拜練習之後

my throws became more like this:

我出嚟嘅技巧比較似咁

A bit better.

好咗啲

I thought, the yo-yo is something for me to be good at.

我覺得，遙遙係我人生裏邊一樣

For the first time in my life,

我會有做得叻嘅嘢

I found my passion.

我搵到我嘅嗜好

I was spending all my time practicing.

我用唒我所有時間練習

It took me hours and hours a day to build my skills up to the next level.

我每日要花好幾粒鐘先至可以 將我嘅技術提升上另一級

跟住，四年之後，我十八歲

And then, four years later, when I was 18 years old,

我企喺世界遙遙比賽嘅台上

I was standing onstage at the World YoYo Contest.

And I won.

最後贏咗

I was so excited.

我嗰陣時好興奮

"Yes, I did it! I became a hero.

「耶！我得咗！我係英雄，

I may get many sponsors, a lot of money,

我會有好多贊助商、 好多錢、好多訪問，

tons of interviews, and be on TV!" I thought.

甚至乎上電視！」 我當時係咁諗（笑聲）

(Laughter)

But after coming back to Japan,

但係返到日本之後

totally nothing changed in my life.

我嘅人生完全冇改變到（笑聲）

(Laughter)

我發現個社會並唔重視我熱愛嘅嘢

I realized society didn't value my passion.

所以，我返去學校

So I went back to my college

and became a typical Japanese worker as a systems engineer.

成為咗日本典型嘅勞工

做咗系統工程師

I felt my passion, heart and soul, had left my body.

我發覺我嘅熱情、心同埋靈魂 都離開咗我嘅肉體

I felt I was not alive anymore.

我覺得我死咗

So I started to consider what I should do,

跟住我就開始諗我究竟應該點做

and I thought, I wanted to make my performance better,

我想表演得再好啲

and to show onstage how spectacular the yo-yo could be

同埋想上台表演畀大家睇下 遙遙可以有幾咁精彩

to change the public's image of the yo-yo.

從而改變大家對遙遙嘅印象

So I quit my company

所以，我辭職，轉去做專業嘅表演家

and started a career as a professional performer.

我開始學古典芭蕾舞、爵士舞、雜技

I started to learn classic ballet, jazz dance, acrobatics and other things

同埋其他可以令到我表演更加出眾嘅嘢

to make my performance better.

As a result of these efforts, and the help of many others,

因為我努力

加埋喺好多其他嘢幫助之下

it happened.

皇天不負有心人

I won the World YoYo Contest again in the artistic performance division.

我再一次喺世界遙遙大賽嘅 藝術表演項目贏咗

I passed an audition for Cirque Du Soleil.

我過咗太陽馬戲團嘅面試

Today, I am standing on the TED stage

今日，我企喺 TED 嘅台上 帶住遙遙出現喺你哋面前

with the yo-yo in front of you.

(Applause)

What I learned from the yo-yo is,

我從遙遙上高學到嘅係

if I make enough effort with huge passion,

如果我盡自己所能 並且熱愛我所做嘅嘢

there is no impossible.

冇嘢係冇可能

大家唔知想唔想我表演

Could you let me share my passion with you
