I was trying to think, what do I talk about? Good question.

My grandfather was the guy

So I thought, maybe there's something with this.

And what I love about this box,

So the amazing thing was, we were able to do this thing.

There's a fundamental question -- in TV, the first act is called the teaser.

So there's this thing with mystery boxes that I started feeling compelled.

Then there's the thing of mystery in terms of imagination --

You know, doing that intentionally is much more engaging.

The thing about "Jaws" is, it's really about a guy

So my favorite visual effect in the movie is the one I'm about to show you.

O meu efeito visual preferido no filme é este que vos vou mostrar.

É uma cena em que Tom acorda. Ele está grogue, tonto, desnorteado.

It's a scene in which Tom's character wakes up.

He's drowsy. He's crazy.

And the guy wakes up, and he shoves this gun in his nose

and shoots this little capsule into his brain

que mais tarde o irá matar, como fazem os maus da fita.

that he's going to use later to kill him, as bad guys do.

When we shot that scene,

the actor who had the gun, an English actor, Eddie Marsan --

O ator que tinha a arma, Eddie Marsan, um tipo espetacular,

sweetheart, great guy --

he kept taking the gun and putting it into Tom's nose,

estava sempre a pegar na arma, a metê-la no nariz do Tom, e a magoá-lo.

and it was hurting Tom's nose.

And I learned this very early on in my career:

Eu aprendi isto bem cedo na minha carreira: nunca magoar o nariz do Tom.

Don't hurt Tom's nose.

(Laughter)

There are three things you don't want to do.

Number two is: Don't hurt Tom's nose.

Eddie é um tipo porreiro, um inglês muito querido e diz:

So Eddie has this gun -- and he's this sweet English guy.

He's like, "Sorry, I don't want to hurt you."

"Desculpa, não te quero magoar".

E eu: "Tens que repetir. Isto tem que ficar bem".

I'm like, "We have to make this look good."

Percebi que tínhamos que fazer algo, porque não estava a funcionar bem.

And I realized that we had to do something because it wasn't working.

And I thought back to what I would have done

E eu lembrei-me do que teria feito,

using the Super 8 camera that my grandfather got me

se tivesse a câmara Super 8 que o meu avô me dera.

sitting in that room,

Percebi que não tinha que ser a mão do Eddie Marsan.

and I realized that hand didn't have to be Eddie Marsan's.

Podia ser a mão do Tom e ele saberia que força usar.

It could be Tom's.

And Tom would know just how hard to push the gun.

Não iria magoar-se.

He wouldn't hurt himself.

So we took his hand and we painted it to look a little bit more like Eddie's.

Pegámos na mão dele e pintámo-la para se parecer com a do Eddie

e pusemo-la na manga do Eddie.

We put it in Eddie's sleeve,

and so the hand that you see --

Assim, a mão que se vê,

that's not Eddie's hand, that's Tom's. So Tom is playing two roles.

And he didn't ask for any more money.
