Fiquei preocupado com a minha família, queria ir para casa

mas as notícias diziam que não se podia passar.

Não havia telefones.

Angustiado, decidi vir como pude.

Estava a chover muito.

E não havia autocarros.

Arranjei uma boleia que me deixou longe da minha aldeia

e caminhei várias horas.

Vi casas destruídas, atravessei rios e comecei a tirar fotos.

Demorei sete horas a chegar à minha aldeia.

A situação ali ainda era pior.

As casas dos meus vizinhos ficaram soterradas pela lama.

Impressionou-me ver tanta gente a correr por todos os lados,

uns a descarregar víveres, de camiões e helicópteros,

outros a chorar nos abrigos

e uma quantidade de caixões para enterrar mais de 100 mortos.

Quando cheguei a casa, vi a minha mãe sentada na cozinha.

Quase chorei de felicidade, ao vê-la.

Podemos pensar na nossa aldeia?

Podemos ter um futuro melhor?

Tenhamos fé e esperança.

Eu creio nisso e creio que tudo se consegue na vida.
