So when was the last time that you wrote a handwritten note?

It's probably been a while.

Technology has changed the way we communicate.

تەکنەلۆژیا شێوازی پەیوەندی گرتنمانی گۆڕیوە.

We send emails, not letters,

ئێمە ئیمێڵ دەنێرین نەک نامە،

text messages, not phone calls.

تەلەفۆن ناکەین، نامەی موبایل دەنێرین.

We order delivery instead of cooking dinners in our kitchen.

لە شوێنی چێشت لێنان لە چێشتخانە، داوای گەیاندنی خواردن دەکەین.

All in the name of efficiency.

هەموو ئەوانە لە پێناو باشتر کردنە.

But here's the point.

بەڵام خاڵێک هەیە.

Technology has made it easier to communicate.

تەنکنەلۆژیا پەیوەندیگرتنی ئاسان کردووە.

But it hasn't made it easier to connect

بەڵام دروستکردنی پەیوەندی کەسی نێوان

with other human beings.

کەسەکانی ئاسان نەکردووە.

I've found that the secret to connecting

من نهێنی دروستکردنی ئەم پەیوەندییەم لە

in the high-tech, fast-paced world that we live in,

جیهانی خێرا و تەکنەلۆژیای جیهانی ئێمە دۆزیوەتەوە،

is doing a few small things the old-fashioned way.

کە بریتیە لە ئەنجامدانی کۆمەڵێک شتی بچووک بە شێوەی کۆن.

Write a letter.

نامە بنووسە.

I've written thousands of handwritten notes.

من هەزاران نامەم بە دەست نوسیوە.

Thanking people for advice, thanking them for an interview.

It just puts that extra effort to show someone that you really care

and that you're willing to go above and beyond.

Some advice for writing a thank-you letter is to really make it clear

to the person that you're writing to

،بۆ ئەو کەسەی کە نامەی بۆ دەنێریت،

the impact that they have had on your life.

کە کاریگەری لە سەر ژیانت دروست کردووە.

Talk about something specific.

باسی شتێکی تایبەت بکە.

Like "Thank you for the advice that you gave me.

وەک: سوپاست دەکەم بۆ ئەم ئامۆژگارییەت.

It's because of the advice you gave me, that I am now doing x."

بەهۆی ئامۆژگارییەکەت، من فڵان ئیش دەکەم.

People are looking to make a difference.

خەڵک دەیانەوێت جیاوازی دروستبکەن.

And so if you can show someone that they've really had an impact

بۆیە، ئەگەر بتوانیت پێشانی کەسێک بدەیت کە کاریگەری لەسەر

on the life that you're living, the life you're pursuing,

ژیانت هەبووە، ئەو ژیانەی کە خەونی پێوە دەبینیت،

it could have a huge impact.

Pick up the phone and dial.

We've hired thousands of employees.

And I've personally called every single one of them

I'm able to set the tone of really what I want the company to be.

Where, you know, people go above and beyond

to make people feel welcomed and to give people a sense of belonging.

And sometimes I call people on their last day of work.

When people leave, sometimes they're more transparent

کاتێک خەڵک دەڕۆنەوە، زۆر ڕونتر قسە دەکەن

than they ever were when they were still at the company.

And so it's a great opportunity to get feedback

بۆیە ئەمە کاتێکی باشە بۆ زانینی تێڕوانینێک

that is very hard to get otherwise.

کە لە کاتیتر ئاسان نییە دەست بخرێت.

Ask interesting and meaningful questions when you get outside of the office.

پرسیاری سەرنج ڕاکێش و بەمانا بکە کاتێک لە ئۆفیس دەردەچیت.

When I'm traveling the country,

کاتێک وڵاتێک جێدەهێڵم،

every night I'll have dinner with people in the company.

هەموو شەوێک نانی ئێوارە لەگەڵ خەڵک لە کۆمپانیا دەخۆم.

And I like to ask questions like "What's your underlying motivation?

پێم خۆشە پرسیاری وەک ئەم پرسیارە بکەم نهێنی هاندانت چییە؟

What's something that's happened this week that meant a lot to you?"

ئەم شتەی ئەم هەفتەیە ڕویدا کە بۆت زۆر گرنگ بوو چییە؟

And when you go around the table,

کەسانی چواردەوریشت بە قسە دێن

and people really open up and are able to engage,

و لە دەوری یەکتر کۆدەبنەوە و بیرورا ئاڵوگۆر دەکەن،

it sets a different tone.

بەم شێوەیە ئاواز دەخوڵقێت.

When people come back to the office,

کاتێک خەڵکەکە دەگەڕێنەوە ئۆفیس

they can see each other and they know each other in a deeper way.

یەکتر دەبینین و یەکتر باشتر و قوڵتر دەناسن.

Answer questions with honesty.

لە وەڵامدانەوەی پرسیارەکان ڕاستگۆ بە.

You know how it feels when you go into an elevator

دەزانیت هەستت چۆنە کاتێک لە ناو ئەسانسۆریت کەسێک

and someone says, "How was your weekend?"

پرسیارت لێدەکات: پشووی هەفتەت چۆن بوو؟

It could've been the best weekend ever, you could've met the love of your life,

لەوانەیە باشترین پشووی هەفتەت بووبێت، لەوانەیە چاوت بە ئەزیزترین کەست کەوتبێت،

and you would say, "Good, how was yours?"

تۆش دەڵێیت: باش، ئەی پشووی تۆ چۆن بوو؟

If you want to connect with people, then you have to open up.

ئەگەر دەتەوێت پەیوەندی لەگەڵ خەڵک دروست بکەیت، پێویستە ڕاشکاو بیت.

I'm not always that good at it, and I imagine most people aren't.

من لەمەیان باش نیم، لەوانەیە خەڵکیش هەروا بێت.

But that's why being open stands out so much,

بەڵام ئەمە هۆکاری گرنگی ڕاشکاوییە،

because most people aren't.

Turn the video on.

I would always recommend a videoconference over a phone call.

Because that's when you can see the real personality come out.

When you're on video, you're forced to be present.

It's almost a forcing mechanism to be in the moment.

Nobody succeeds alone.

The more you can take time

تا زیاتر کات تەرخان بکەیت

to develop genuine, authentic relationships,

بۆ بەروپێشبردنی زیرەکی، سەرکردایەتی،

the more you're going to be able to realize your dreams.

زیاتر دەتوانیت خەونەکانت بە دەست بهێنیت.

You're going to be able to take big risks and know that there's a network of people

توانای سەرکێشی زیاترت دەبێت چونکە دەزانیت تۆڕێک لە خەڵک هەیە

to cheer you on and to support your efforts.
