Bad people are those who plot terrorist attacks

They use the Internet not to plot bombing attacks

And there's a reason for that,

There's a reason why we seek that out,

People can very easily in words claim

but their actions negate the authenticity of that belief.

Now, there's a reason why privacy is so craved

universally and instinctively.

It isn't just a reflexive movement

like breathing air or drinking water.

The reason is that when we're in a state

The range of behavioral options that we consider

This is just a fact of human nature

BG: I'm curious about your relationship with Ed Snowden,

because you have spoken with him a lot,

To me, that's the essence of journalism

is very articulate in presenting and portraying himself

But then, many people really find it difficult to believe

that those are his only motivations.

Do you consider it possible there is

that part of Snowden we've not seen yet?

GG: No, I consider that absurd and idiotic.

and I know you're just playing devil's advocate,

but if you wanted to sell

People who want to enrich themselves

do it secretly by selling secrets to the government,

but I think there's one important point worth making,

중요한 점을 지적하고 싶어요.

which is, that accusation comes from

그런 비난은

people in the U.S. government,

미국 정부안에 있는 사람들,

from people in the media who are loyalists

여러 정부에 충성을 다하는

to these various governments,

언론에 있는 사람들이 합니다.

and I think a lot of times when people make accusations like that about other people —

사람들이 다른 사람들에 대해서 그와 같은 비난을 할 때는

"Oh, he can't really be doing this

"그가 원칙에 입각한 이유로

for principled reasons,

이런 일을 할 리가 없어.

he must have some corrupt, nefarious reason" —

어떤 타락하고 사악한 이유가 있을 거야."

they're saying a lot more about themselves

그런 사람들은 비난의 대상보다는

than they are the target of their accusations,

자신들에 대해 훨씬 더 많이

those people, the ones who make that accusation,

왜냐하면 그런 비난을 하는 사람들은

they themselves never act

for any reason other than corrupt reasons,

so they assume

that everybody else is plagued by the same disease

of soullessness as they are,

and so that's the assumption.
