Having brain cancer was really, as you can imagine,

ब्रैन कांसेर होना सही मे जैसे कि आप सोच सकते

shocking news for me.

मेरे लिये भयानक बात है

I knew nothing about cancer.

मै कॅन्सर के बारे मे कुछ भी नही जानता था

In Western cultures, when you have cancer,

पश्चिमी सँस्क्रुती मे, अगर तुम्हे कॅन्सर हो जाता है,

it's as if you disappear in a way.

तो मानो एक तरफ से तुम मिट गये|

Your life as a complex human being is replaced by medical data:

तुम्हारी जटिल जिंदगी चिकित्सा डेटा मे बदल जाता है:

Your images, your exams, your lab values,

तुम्हारी इमेजेस,तुम्हारी परीक्षाये, तुम्हारी प्रयोगशाला मूल्यो,

a list of medicines.

दवाइयो की लिस्ट्|

And everyone changes as well.

और सबलोग भी बदल जाते है|

You suddenly become a disease on legs.

तुम अचानक चलते हुये बीमारी बन जाते हो

Doctors start speaking a language which you don't understand.

डाक्टर्स अलग भाशा बोलना शुरू करते है जो तुम्हारी समझ मे नही आता

They start pointing their fingers

वो तुम्हारी शरीर के तरफ और

at your body and your images.

तुम्हारी इमेजेस के तरफ इशारा करते है|

People start changing as well

लोग बदलना शुरू हो जाते है क्योँ कि

because they start dealing with the disease,

वे मनुष्य के बदले मे

instead of with the human being.

बीमारी से व्यवहार करते है|

They say, "What did the doctor say?"

वे "हेल्लो" भी कहने से पह्ले कहते है

before even saying, "Hello."

"वैद्य ने क्या कहा? "

And in the meanwhile,

और इस बीच आप के पास इतने प्रश्न उठ्ते है

you're left with questions to which nobody gives an answer.

जिसका समाधान कोई नही दे सकता|

These are the "Can I?" questions:

हमारे मन मे बहुत सारे सवाल उठ्ते है:

Can I work while I have cancer?

क्या मै काम कर सकता हूँ?

Can I study? Can I make love? Can I be creative?

क्या मै पढ सकता ? क्या मै प्यार कर सकता हूँ ? क्या मै रचनात्मक हो सकता हूँ ?

And you wonder, "What have I done to deserve this?"

और आपको आश्चर्य होगा कि आप ने ऐसा क्या किया जो आप को ये बीमारी हुआ

You wonder, "Can I change something about my lifestyle?"

आप ये सोचेंगे कि क्या आप अपने जीवान शैली मे कुछ बदलाव ला सकते है

You wonder, "Can I do something?

आप सोचेंगे कि "मैं कुछ कर सकता हूँ ?

Are there any other options?"

या मेरे पास और कोई विकल्प है ?"

And, obviously, doctors are the good guys in all these scenarios,

और जाहिर है , इस पूरे द्रुश्य मे डॉक्टर्स तो बहुत अच्छा ही रहेंगे

because they are very professional and dedicated to curing you.

क्योँ कि वे बहुत ही पेशेवर है और तुम्हारी इलाज करने मेँ निष्ठां दिखाते हैँ|

But they also are very used to having to deal with patients,

पर उन लोगोँ को रोगियोँ के साथ रहने की भी आदत होती है,

so I'd say that they sometimes lose the idea that this is torture for you

इसलिए मैँ कहता हूँ कि वे कभी कभी भूल जाते कि ये सब तुम्हे कितना तकलीफ देता है

and that you become, literally, a patient --

और तुम सच मे एक रोगि बनजाते हो

"patient" means "the one who waits."

रोगी मतलब जो इंतेजार करता है

(Laughter)

Things are changing, but classically,

अब चीजेँ बदल रहे हैँ, लेकिन

they tend to not engage you in any way to learn about your condition,

वे तुम्हारी परिस्थिती के बारे मे कोइ भी चीज तुम पता करने मे व्यस्थ होने नही देते

to get your friends and family engaged,

तुम्हारे दोस्तो और परिवार को भी व्यस्थ होने नही देते

or showing you ways in which you can change your lifestyle

या तुम्हारी जीवन शैली कैसे बदल सकते हो तुम्हे नही बताते ताकी तुम जो

to minimize the risks of what you're going through.

परिस्थिति से गुजर रहे हो उसकी खतरा थोडा कम कर सको

But instead, you're forced there to wait

लेकिन इसके बजाय तुम्हे पेशेवर अजनबियो की स्रुंखला के लिये

in the hands of a series of very professional strangers.

मजबूरन इंतेजार करना पढेगा

While I was in the hospital,

जब मै अस्पताल मे था,

I asked for a printed-out picture of my cancer

मै अपने कॅन्सर का मुद्रित चित्र मांगा

and I spoke with it.

और मैं ने उसके साथ बात किया|

It was really hard to obtain,

चित्र मिलना बहुत ही मुश्किल था क्यो की,

because it's not common practice to ask for a picture of your own cancer.

अपनी ही कॅन्सर की चित्र मांगना कोइ आम बात नही है|

I talked to it and I said,

मै ने उस चित्र से बात किया और बोला

"Okay, cancer, you're not all there is to me.

"ओ.के. कॅन्सर तुम मेरा सबकुछ नही हो|

There's more to me.

मेरे पास और भी बहुत कुछ है|

A cure, whichever it is, will have to deal with the whole of me."

और जो भी इलाज होगी ,उसे मेरे पूरे शरीर के साथ व्यवहार करना होगा|"

And so, the next day, I left the hospital against medical advice.

और दूसरे दिन मै वैद्य के सलाह के विरुद्ध अस्पताल छोड दिया

I was determined to change my relationship with the cancer

मै ने कांसर के साथ अपना संबंध बदलने के लिये ठान लिया

and I was determined to learn more about my cancer

और सर्जेरी जैसे विपरीत इलाज के पहले

before doing anything as drastic as a surgery.

मै कांसेर के बारे मे पूरा जानने की ठान लिया

I'm an artist, I use several forms of open-source technologies

मै एक कलाकार हू,मै कई तरह के ओपेन सोर्स टेक्नोलोजीस

and open information in my practice.

और ख़ुला समाचार इस्तेमाल करता हूँ|

So my best bet was to get it all out there, get the information out there,

मेरा सर्व्श्रेष्ट शर्त था कि मैँ पूरा समाचार बाहर रख दूँ,

and use it so that it could be accessed by anyone.

ताकि सब लोगोँ को इसकी पहुँच रहे और इसको इस्तमाल करे|

So I created a website, which is called La Cura,

मै ने एक वेब साईट का निर्माण किया जिसका नाम है "ला क्यूरा" ,

on which I put my medical data, online.

जिसमेँ मै ने अपना चिकेत्सा विवरण आँन्लाइन मे रखा

I actually had to hack it

मुझे उसे सचमुच "हैक" करना पडा

and that's a thing which we can talk about in another speech.

और उसके बारे मेँ हम दूसरी भाषण मेँ बात कर सकते हैँ|

I chose this word, La Cura --

मै ने ला क्यूरा नाम इसलिए चुना

La Cura in Italian means "the cure" --

इटालियन मे इसका मतलब "इलाज" --

because in many different cultures,

क्योँकि अलग अलग सँस्क्रुतियोँ मे

the word "cure" can mean many different things.

'इलाज' का अर्थ बहुत सारी चीज हो सकते हैँ

In our Western cultures,

हमारी पश्चिमी संस्कृति मेँ

it means eradicating or reversing a disease,

उसका अर्थ रोग का निर्मूलन या उलटा करना है,

but in different cultures,

पर अलग अलग संस्कृतियों मे

for example, a culture from Asia,

उदाहरणार्थ आशिया की संस्कृति

from the Mediterranean, from Latin countries, from Africa,

मेदितेर्रेनिअन,लाटिन देशो से,आफ्रिका से

it can mean many more things.

इसका अर्थ बहुत सारे चीज हो सकते है

Of course, I was interested in the opinions of doctors

बेशक,मुझे वैद्य के रायोँ पर दिलचस्पी थी

and healthcare providers,

और स्वास्थ्य की देखभाल करनेवाले

but I was also interested in the cure of the artist, of the poet,

पर मुझे एक कलाकार , एक कवी, एक कल्पना करनेवाला

of the designer,

और कौन जाने संगीतकारों का इलाज के बारे

of, who knows, the musicians.

मे जानने का शौक है|

I was interested in the social cure,

मुझे सामाजिक इलाज मे दिलचस्पी था,

I was interested in the psychological cure,

मैँ मनोवैज्ञानिक इलाज मे दिलचस्पी रखता हू,

I was interested in the spiritual cure,

मैआध्यात्मिक इलाज मे दिलचस्पी रखता हूँ,

I was interested in the emotional cure,

मै भावनात्मक इलाज मे दिलचस्पी रखता हूँ|

I was interested in any form of cure.

मै इलाज के किसी भी रूप मे दिलचस्पी रखता हूँ|

And, it worked.

और ये काम सफल हुआ|

The La Cura website went viral.

ला क्युरा वेबसैट वैरल चला गया

I received lots of media attention from Italy and from abroad

मै ने इटली और विदेशोँ से मीडिया का ध्यान प्राप्त किया

and I quickly received more than 500,000 contacts --

और जल्द ही ५००००से ज्यादा संपर्क, ई मैल्स,

emails, social networking --

सोशल नेटवर्किंग प्राप्त किया--

most of them were a suggestion on how to cure my cancer,

उनमे से ज्यादा कांसर को कैसे क्यूर करना है इसके ऊपर सुझाव थे

but more of them were about how to cure myself

लेकिन ज्यादातर मेरे इलाज पूर्ण रूप से

as a full individual.

कैसे करना है इस्के ऊपर थे|

For example, many thousands of videos,

उदाहरणर्थ, हजारोँ विडियोस,

images, pictures, art performances

छवियों, चित्रों कला प्रदर्शन

were produced for La Cura.

ला क्युरा के लिए बनाए गए थे|

For example, here we see Francesca Fini in her performance.

उदाहरणार्थ ,यहाँ हम फ्रांसेस्का फिनि की प्रदर्शन देखेंगे|

Or, as artist Patrick Lichty has done:

या,जैसा कलाकार पाट्रिक लिक्टी ने किया:

He produced a 3D sculpture of my tumor

उसने मेरे ट्यूमर का एक 3D मूर्ति बनायीं

and put it on sale on Thingiverse.

और उसको थिंगिवर्स पर बिक्रि के लिये डाल दिया

Now you can have my cancer, too!

अभी आप को मेरा कैंसर भी हैँ!

Which is a nice thing, if you think about it,

ये एक अच्छी चीज है जो आप सोचते और हम कान्सर के,

we can share our cancer.

बारे मे जानकारी बाँट सकते है|

And this was going on --

और ये चलरहा था

scientists, the traditional medicine experts,

वैझनिक, पारम्परिक चिकित्सा विशेषज्ञ

several researchers, doctors --

बहुत सारे परिशोधक, वैद्य

all connected with me to give advice.

सब लोग मुझे सलाह देने तैयार है

With all this information and support,

ये सब समाचार और सहारे के माध्यम से,

I was able to form a team of several neurosurgeons,

मै कई न्युरो स्रर्जनोँ ,

traditional doctors,

सनातन वैद्य,

oncologists, and several hundred volunteers

कैंसर चिकित्सा विझनियोँ, और कई सौ स्वयं सेवकोँ

with whom I was able to discuss

जिनके साथ मै जो समाचार पाया

the information I was receiving, which is very important.

जो चर्चा कर्ने मे महत्वपूर्ण है.

And together, we were able to form a strategy for my own cure

और हम सब मिलके मेरी इलाज के लिये कई भषाओँ मे और कई संस्कृतियों

in many languages, according to many cultures.

के हिसाब से एक प्रणलिका बनायी, और अभी का जो प्रणालिका है|

And the current strategy spans the whole world

ये पूरी दुनिया मे विस्त्रुत है

and thousands of years of human history,

और ह्जारोँ सालोँ की मनुष्य चरित्र,

which is quite remarkable for me.

जो मेरे लिए महत्वपूर्ण है

[Surgery]

The follow-up MRIs showed, luckily, little to no growth of the cancer.

सौभाग्य से चिकित्सा पश्चात एमआरऐस थोडा या कोई कांसर मे व्रुद्धी नहीँ दिखाई|

So I was able to take my time and choose.

इसलिए मै अपना समय लेके चुन सकता था|

I chose the doctor I wanted to work with,

मै ने एक वैद्य को चुना जिनके साथ मै काम करना चाहता था|

I chose the hospital I wanted to stay in,

मै ने अस्पताल चुना जिसमे मै रहना चाहता हूँ,

and in the meanwhile, I was supported by thousands of people,

और इसके बीच मे, हजारोँ लोग मुझे समर्थन दे रहे थे,

none of whom felt pity for me.

जिनमे एक ने भी मेरे लिए दया नहीँ दिखयी|

Everyone felt like they could take an active role

सब लोग मुझे ठीक होने मे मदद करने के बारे मे

in helping me to get well,

अपना हिस्सा लेते थे,

and this was the most important part of La Cura.

और ये मा क्युरा की बहुथ ही महत्वपूर्ण बात थी.

What are the outcomes?

और उसका नतीजा क्या थे?

I'm fine, as you can see, pretty fine.

मै ठीक हूँ, आप देख सक्ते है, मै बिलकुल टीक हूँ.

I had excellent news

मेरे पास बहुत ही अच्छी समचार है:

after the surgery --

शस्त्र चिकित्सा के बाद --

I have -- I had a very low-grade glioma,

मुझे बहुत ही लो ग्रेड ग्लियोमा,

which is a "good" kind of cancer which doesn't grow a lot.

जो बडिया तरह के कैंसर है जो ज्यादा नहीँ बढता|

I have completely changed my life and my lifestyle.

मै ने अपनी जिंदगी और जीवनशैली को बदल दिय|

Everything I did was thoughtfully designed to get me engaged.

मै जो कुछ भी किया मुझे व्यस्थ रखने के लिए

Up until the very last few minutes of the surgery,

शल्य - चिकित्सा की आखरी पाल तक

which was very intense,

जो बहुत ही कठिन,

a matrix of electrodes was implanted in my brain

एक मैट्रिक्स का येलेक्ट्रोड्स मेरे दिमाग मे रखे गये थे

from this side,

इस तरफ से,

to be able to build a functional map of what the brain controls.

ताकि जो दिमाग के कँट्रोल के बारे मे पट का निर्माण कर सके|

And right before the operation,

और ठीक शस्त्र चिकित्सा के पहले,

we were able to discuss the functional map of my brain

ह्म मेरे दिमाग मेँ काम करने वाला चित्र पट के बारे मे

with the doctor, to understand which risks I was running into

वैद्य के साथ चर्चा की ये समझने के लिए कि मै कौनसा खतरा मोल ले रहा हूँ

and if there were any I wanted to avoid.

और ऐसा कोई खतरे है जो मैँ टाल सकता हूँ|

Obviously, there were.

And this openness was really the fundamental part of La Cura.

और ये खुलापन ही सचमे ला क्यूरा का असली मौलिक हिस्सा है|

Thousands of people shared their stories, their experiences.

Doctors got to talk with people they don't usually consult

वैद्य जब कांसर के बारे मे सोचते है, वे उनके साथ बात करते

when they think about cancer.

I'm a self-founding, continuous state of translation

मै एक खुद - स्थापित,

among many different languages,

in which science meets emotion

जहाँ विज्ञान भावना से

and conventional research meets traditional research.

The most important thing of La Cura

“ला क्युरा” वेब साईट की बहुत मुख्य उद्देश्य ये है कि

was to feel like a part of a really engaged and connected society

whose wellness really depends on the wellness of all of its components.

महसूस करना और सामाजिक व्रुद्धी मे समाजिक कल्याण होगा.

This global performance is my open-source cure for cancer.

ये मेरी विश्वीय प्रदर्शन ही कैंसर की इलाज के लिये खुला जवाब है|

And from what I feel,

और मुझे लगता है कि ये

it's a cure for me, but for us all.

सिर्फ मेरी ही नहीँ, हम सब क इलाज हैँ|
