“ئالی” لە پلاوەوە،

my beautiful island home

ماڵی دوورگە جوانەکەم

in the western Pacific Ocean.

لە خۆرئاوای زەریایی ھێمن.

We Palauans have been here for over 3,000 years,

ئێمەی پڵاوەنس پێش ٣٠٠٠ ساڵ لێرە بووین،

living in harmony with nature in our pristine paradise environment.

ژیانکردن بە خۆگونجاندن لەگەڵ سروشت لە ژینگە پاکە خۆشەکەمان.

Palau is home to just 20,000 people,

پلاو تەنیا ماڵی ٢,٠٠٠ کەسە،

but we are a large ocean state with more than 300 islands,

بەڵام ئێمە وڵاتی دەریایی گەورەین کە زیاتر لە ٣٠٠ دوورگەیە،

covering an area the size of France.

ڕووبەری فەڕەنسای داپۆشیوە.

Some of our islands are coral atolls,

ھەندێک لە دورگەکانمان دورگەی مۆڵگەی مەرجانن،

others are volcanic,

ئەوانی تر گڕکانین،

covered with hills, ancient forests and mangroves,

بە گرد، دارستانە کۆنەکان و مانگرۆفسەکان، داپۆشراوە،

all with beautiful beaches bordering the crystal-clear sea,

ھەموو کەنار دەریا جوانەکان بە دەریا ڕوونەکان دەورەدراون،

which is alive with incredible, rare marine life.

بەڵام ئێستا ماڵەکەمان لە ژێر مەترسی گۆڕانی کەش و ھەوادایە.

But our home is now threatened by climate change.

بەڵام ماڵەکەمان لەژێر مەترسی گۆڕانی کەش و ھەوادایە.

The climate crisis is causing sea levels to rise,

گۆڕانی کەش و ھەوا ھۆکاری بەرزبونەوەی ئاستی ئاوی دەریایە،

and brings so much pollution to our shores.

پیسیێکی زۆر بۆ کەنارەکانمان دێنێت.

Plastics drift in from thousands of miles away,

پلاستیکەکان لە ھەزاران میل دوورتر دەھێنێت،

washing up on our beaches,

لەسر لێوارى کەنار دەریاکانمان دەمێنەوە،

threatening our marine life.

ھەڕەشە لە ژیانی دەریاوانیمان دەکات.

Our precious soil is being washed away by increased rain,

خاکە بەپیتەکەمان بەھۆی بارانێکی زۆر دادەماڵدرێت،

and in other seasons,

لە وەرزکانی تر،

new droughts are having a terrible impact on our fragile ecosystems.

وشکە ساڵییە نوێیەکان کاریگەری خراپیان لەسەر ژینگەکەمان ھەیە.

We warmly welcome visitors who come to our beautiful country every year.

بەگەرمی بەخێرھاتنی گەشتیارەکان دەکەین دێن بۆ وڵاتە جوانەکەمان ھەموو ساڵێک.

We want them to enjoy Palau,

دەمانەوێت خۆشی ببینن لە پلاو،

but we need their help to protect our precious home

بەڵام بۆ پاراستی ماڵە بەنرخەکەمان پێویستمان بە یارمەتی ئەوانە

and preserve it for future generations.

بیپارێزین بۆ نەوەکانی داھاتوو.

But visitors don't always know how to protect Palau.

بەڵام گەشتیارەکان نازانن چۆن پلاو بپارێزن.

They don't understand

تێناگەن لەوەى

that stepping on coral can badly damage our reefs.

ڕۆیشتن بەسەر مەرجانەکان بەخراپی مۆڵگەکانمان لەناودەبات.

Some corals take hundreds of years to regrow.

ھەندێک لە مەرجانەکان سەدان ساڵیان پێویستە بۆ ئەوەی دووبارە گەشە بکەن.

They are sometimes careless and take protected species,

ھەندێک کات کەمترخەمن و جۆرەکان دەپارێزن،

or interact with nature in harmful ways.

یان بە شێوازێکی خراپی کارلێک لەگەڵ سروشتدا دەکەن.

That's why we introduced the Palau Pledge.

لەبەر ئەوە بەڵێنامەی پلاو مان بڵاوکردەوە.

When visitors come to Palau,

کاتێک گەشتیاران دێن بۆ پلاو،

they must all sign an environmental pledge,

دەبێت ھەموویان بەڵێنامەی ژینگەیی واژۆ بکەن،

which is stamped into their passport as their visa.

کە بە پاسپۆرتەکەیان نووساوە وەک فیزاکەیان.

The pledge is a promise to the children of Palau

بەڵێنامەکە بەڵێنێکە بۆ منداڵانی پلاو

to preserve and respect our home, our culture and heritage.

بۆ پاراستن و ڕێزگرتنی ماڵمان، كلتورمان و میراتمان.

We also hope that when they return home,

ھەروەھا ھیوادەخوازین کاتێک دەگەڕێنەوە ماڵەوە،

visitors will share the idea of the pledge

گەشتیارەکان بیرۆکەی بەڵێنامەکە بڵاو بکەنەوە

by practicing it at home and in their community.

بە ڕاھێنان کردن لە ماڵ و کۆمەڵگاکەیان.

Through our traditional chants,

لە ڕێی ئاھەنگە دێرینەکانمانەوە،

our elders have passed on

بەتەمەنەکانمان پێیدا تێپەڕیون

that we do not inherit the land and waters from our ancestors.

کە خاک و ئاومان لە باپیرانمان بۆ نەماوەتەوە.

We borrow them from our children.

لە منداڵەکانمان وەری دەگرین.-

That's what the Palau Pledge is about.

بەڵێنامەی پلاو دەربارەی ئەوەیە.

And here it is.

ئەوەتا.

“Children of Palau, I take this pledge as your guest

“منداڵانی پلاو، ئەو بەڵێنامە وەک میوانێکی ئێوە قبوڵ دەکەم

to preserve and protect your beautiful and unique island home.

بۆ ھێشتنەوە و پاراستنی ماڵی دوورگە جوان و ناوازەکەتان.

I vow to tread lightly, act kindly and explore mindfully.

بەڵێم دەدەم بە ھێواشی بڕۆم، بە میھرەبانی ڕەفتاربکەم بەوریایەوە بگەڕێم.

I shall not take what is not given.

ئەو شتە وەرناگرم کە نەبەخشراوە.

I shall not harm what does not harm me.

ئازاری پێناگەیێنم ئەوەی ئازارم پێنەگەیێنێت.

The only footprints I shall leave are those that will wash away."
