A woman in rags emerged from the swamp flanked by seven giant scorpions.

Carrying a baby, she headed for the nearest village to beg for food.

She approached a magnificent mansion,

but the mistress of the house took one look at her grimy clothes

Isis was in hiding from her brother Set,

So to keep her cover, Isis had to be very discreet—

As Isis and Horus settled into their humble accommodation,

They all combined their venom and gave it to one of the seven, Tefen.

In the dead of night, Tefen crept over to the mansion.

As he crawled under the door,

he saw the owner’s young son sleeping peacefully

সে দেখতে পেলো সে বাড়ির মালিকের সবচেয়ে ছোট ছেলে আরামে ঘুমাচ্ছে

and gave him a mighty sting.

এবং ওকে ভয়ানকভাবে বিষ ফুটিয়ে দেয়।

Isis and her hostess were soon awakened by loud wailing.

আইসিস ও তার সেবিকা কিছুক্ষণের মধ্যেই জোরে কান্নার আওয়াজে জেগে ওঠে।

As they peered out of the doorway of the cottage,

বাড়ির দরজার বাইরে উঁকি দিতেই

they saw a mother running through the street,

তারা একজন মাকে রাস্তায় দৌঁড়াতে দেখতে পেলেন,

weeping as she cradled her son.

When Isis recognized the woman who had turned her away,

Isis took the boy in her arms and began to recite a powerful spell:

For I am Isis, the great Enchantress, the Speaker of spells.

কারণ আমি হলাম আইসিস, সেরা জাদুকর ও মন্ত্র পাঠকারী।

Fall down, O poison of Mestet! Hasten not, poison of Mestetef!

নিচে পড়ো, ও মেসটেটের বিষ! তাড়াহুড়ো করো না মেসটেটেফের বিষ!

Rise not, poison of Petet and Thetet! Approach not, poison of Matet!"

ওঠো না পেটেট ও থেটেটের বিষ! এগিয়ো না, মাটেটের বিষ!”

With each name she invoked, that scorpion’s poison was neutralized.

তার প্রতিটা নাম বলার সাথে সাথে, সেই বিচ্ছুর বিষ অকার্যকর হয়ে পড়ছিলো।

The child stirred, and his mother wept with gratitude

বাচ্চাটি নড়ে উঠলো, এবং তার মা কৃতজ্ঞতায় কেঁদে উঠলো

and lamented her earlier callousness,

ও তার আগের আচরণের কারণে অনুতপ্ত বোধ করে,

offering all her wealth to Isis in repentance.

তার সব ধনসম্পদ আইসিসকে দিতে চাইলো।

The woman who had taken Isis in watched in awe—

she had had no idea who she’d brought under her roof.
