I had had a friend whose 80-year-old father had ALS.

And that was it. We were given our directive.

than just pouring buckets of ice water over your head,

and I really would like to leave you

with a couple of things that I'd like you to remember.

The first thing is,

every morning when you wake up,

you can choose to live your day in positivity.

Would any of you blame me

if I just was in the fetal position

اگر من در یک حالت جنینی بودم

and pulled the covers over my head every day?

و ملحفه رو هر روز روی سرم می کشیدم؟

No, I don't think anybody would blame me,

نه، فکر نمی کنم که کسی من رو سرزنش می کرد،

but Pete has inspired us to wake up

ولی پیت به ما الهام بخشیده که بیدار شویم

every morning and be positive and proactive.

هر صبح و مثبت و فعال باشیم.

I actually had to ditch support groups

من واقعا مجبور بودم جلسه های پشتیبانی رو ترک کنم،

because everybody was in there saying that

چون همه اونجا می گفتند که

spraying their lawns with chemicals,

با افشانه کردن مواد شیمیایی روی چمن هاشون،

that's why they got ALS,

مبتلا به ALS شده بودند،

and I was like, "I don't think so,"

و من فکر می کردم "بعید می دونم"

but I had to get away from the negativity.

ولی باید از این منفی بودن فاصله می گرفتم.

The second thing I want to leave you with

چیز دومی که میخوام براتون بگم،

is the person at the middle of the challenge

این هست که فرد در وسط چالش

has to be willing to have the mental toughness

باید تمایل داشته باشه تا سر سختی فکری رو داشته باشه

to put themselves out there.

که خودش رو در اون شرایط قرار بده.

Pete still goes to baseball games

پیت هنوز به بازیهای بیس بال میره

and he still sits with his teammates in the dugout,

و هنوز با هم تیمی های خودش روی صندلی می نشینه

and he hangs his gravity feed bag

و سرم خودش رو از میله ها

right on the cages.

آویزان می کنه.

You'll see the kids, they're up there hanging it up.

و بچه ها رو خواهید دید که اون بالا هستند و این کار رو می کنند.

"Pete, is that okay?" "Yup."

" پیت، خوبه ؟" "آره"

And then they put it right into his stomach.

و بعد اون رو درست روی شکم او قرار میدن.

Because he wants them to see what the reality of this is,

چون میخواست اونها ببینن حقیقت این چیه،

and how he's never, ever going to give up.

و اینکه هرگز نمیخواد تسلیم شه.

And the third thing I want to leave you with:

و چیز سومی که میخوام براتون بگم:

If you ever come across a situation

اگر هر وقت به شرایطی برخورد کردین

that you see as so unacceptable,

که اون رو خیلی غیر قابل قبول می بینید،

I want you to dig down as deep as you can

میخوام که تا جایی که میتونید درباره اش تعمق کنید

and find your best mother bear

و بهترین چیزی که میشه از توش در آورد رو پیدا کرده

and go after it.

I'm going to save my son,

and if it doesn't happen in time for him,

I'm going to work so that no other mother

has to go through what I'm going through.
