Well, I learned a lot of things about ballooning,

حسناً , لقد تعلمت الكثير من الاشياء عن المناطيد,

especially at the end of these balloon flights

around the world I did with Brian Jones.

والتي جلت بها العالم مع براين جونز

When I took this picture,

عندما إلتقطت هذه الصورة

the window was frozen because of the moisture of the night.

النافذة كانت متجمدة بسبب رطوبة المساء

And on the other side there was a rising sun.

وخلفها تقبع الشمس المشرقة

So, you see that on the other side of ice

كما ترون فان خلف هذا الجليد

you have the unknown,

لدينا المجهول

you have the non-obvious,

وتري الغامض

you have the non-seen,

ولدينا الغير مرئي

for the people who don't dare

وبالنسبة لاولئك الذين لايجرؤن

to go through the ice.

على اختراق هذا الجليد

There are so many people

هناك الكثير من الناس

who prefer to suffer in the ice they know

الذين يفضلون خوض " الجليد " الذي يعلموه

instead of taking the risk of going through the ice

بدلا من خوض مغامرة اختراق الجليد

to see what there is on the other side.

لمعرفة مايوجد في الطرف الاخر منه

And I think that's one of the main problems of our society.

وانا اعتقد ان هذه إحدى اهم مشكلات مجتمعنا

We learn, maybe not the famous TED audience,

ونحن نتعلم " ربما ليس جمهور تيد المشهور"

but so many other people learn,

ولكن العديد من الناس تتعلم

that the unknown, the doubts,

ان المجهول والغامض

the question marks are dangerous.

علامات الاستفهام خطيرة

And we have to resist to the changes.

ويحب علينا تجنب التغيرات

We have to keep everything under control.

يجب ان نبقي كل شيء " تحت السيطرة "

Well, the unknown is part of life.

حسناً , ولكن المجهول جزء من هذه الحياة .

And in that sense, ballooning is a beautiful metaphor.

وفي هذا المشهد نرى بالمنطاد اسقاط مميز

Because in the balloon, like in life,

لان المنطاد مثله مثل الحياة

we go very well in unforeseen directions.

يمكن ان تنطلق به بصورة رائعة جدا الى طرق جديدة وغير متوقعة

We want to go in a direction,

وعندما نريد الذهاب في وجهة ما

but the winds push us in another direction, like in life.

فقد تمنعنا الرياح عن ذلك وتدفعنا في جهة أُخرى " مثل الحياة "

And as long as we fight horizontally,

طالما اننا نحلق أُفقياً

against life, against the winds,

ضد الحياة , ضد الرياح

against what's happening to us,

ضد ما قد يحدث لنا

life is a nightmare.

فالحياة كابوس

How do we steer a balloon?

ولكن كيف يمكننا توجيه هذا المنطاد ؟

By understanding that the atmosphere

عن طريق فهم ان المناخ الذي نحن فيه

is made out of several different layers of wind

مصنوع من عدة طبقات من الرياح

which all have different direction.

كل منها يتحرك باتجاه معين يختلف عن الاخر

So, then, we understand that if we want to change our trajectory,

لذا فنحن عندما نريد ان نغير مسارنا

in life, or in the balloon,

سواء كان ذلك في المنطاد او في الحياة

we have to change altitude.

فعلينا ان نغير الارتفاع

Changing altitude, in life,

وتغير الارتفاع في الحياة

that means raising to another psychological, philosophical,

يعني الارتقاء الى مستوى " نفسي - فلسفي ..

spiritual level.

مستوي روحاني

But how do we do that?

ولكن كيف يمكننا القيام بذلك ؟

In ballooning, or in life,

في المنطاد او في الحياة

how do we change altitude?

كيف يمكن تغير الارتفاع الذي نحن فيه ؟

How do we go from the metaphor

كيف يمكننا ان تنطلق من الاستعارة

to something more practical that we can really

- كيف يمكننا تحويل كناية كالمنطاد الى شيء عملي يمكننا ..

use every day?

.. استخدامه كل يوم ؟

Well, in a balloon it's easy, we have ballast.

حسنا فيما يتعلق في المنطاد الامر سهل , نحن نحمل عادة معنا اوزان في المنطاد

And when we drop the ballast overboard we climb.

وعندما نلقي هذه الاوزان خارجا فاننا نصعد الى الاعلى

Sand, water, all the equipment we don't need anymore.

كل تلك الرمال او المياه او المعدات التي لم نعد بحاجتها

And I think in life it should be exactly like this.

واعتقد انه في الحياة يجب القيام بنفس الشيء وبنفس الشاكلة

You know, when people speak about pioneering spirit,

كما نعلم فعندما نتكلم نحن عن اصحاب الرؤية الريادة

very often they believe that pioneers

يظن الكثير ان هؤلاء الرياديون

are the ones who have new ideas.

هم اولئك الذين يملكون دوما أفكاراً جديدة

It's not true.

ولكن هذا غير صحيح

The pioneers are not the ones who have new ideas,

فالرياديون ليسو اولئك الذين يملكون الافكار الجديدة

because new ideas are so easy to have.

لانه من السهل جدا الحصول على الافكار الجديدة

We just close our eyes for a minute we all come back

يمكننا فقط ان نغلق أعيننا لمدة دقيقة واحدة وسوف ..

with a lot of new ideas.

.. نحصل على العديد من الافكار الجديدة

No, the pioneer is the one who

اما الرياديون فهم أولئك

allows himself to throw overboard a lot of ballast.

الذين يسمحون لانفسهم برمي " الثقل " عن مراكبهم

Habits, certainties,

كالعادات والقناعات

convictions, exclamation marks,

والادانات المسبقة وعلامات التعجب

paradigms, dogmas.

والنماذج النمطية و الاعتقادات الاجتماعية

And when we are able to do that,

وعندما نستطيع ان نقوم بكل ذلك

what happens?

فماذا يحصل ؟

Life is not anymore

لن تعود الحياة تسير

just one line going in one direction

فقط في وجهة واحدة

in one dimension. No.

في بعد واحد . لا.

Life is going to be made out of all the possible lines

.. ستصبح الحياة التي نعيشها مفتوحة الخيارات

that go in all the possible directions

مفتوحة الوجهات

in three dimensions.

وبالابعاد الثلاثية

And pioneering spirit will be each time we allow ourselves

والروح الريادية سوف تنقلنا دوما

to explore this vertical axis.

لكي نكتشف البعد الشاقولي الذي تحدثت عنه مسبقاً

Of course not just like the atmosphere in the balloon,

وطبعا كما ينطبق هذا على المنطاد

but in life itself.

فهو ينطبق ايضاً على الحياة

Explore this vertical axis, that means

فاكتشاف البعد الشاقولي في الحياة يعني

explore all the different ways to do,

اكتشاف جميع الطرق المختلفة للقيام بأمر ما

all the different ways to behave, all the different ways to think,

جميع الطرق المختلفة للتصرف , جميع الطرق المختلفة للتفكير

before we find the one that goes in the direction we wish.

قبل ان نختار او نعتمد تلك التي تناسبنا اكثر من الاخرى

This is very practical.

وهذا المبدأ عملي جداً

This can be in politics.

اذ يمكن اعتماده في السياسة

This can be in spirituality.

وفي الاديان والروحانيات

This can be in environment,

وايضاً فيما يتعلق بالامور البيئية

in finance, in education of children.

والاقصاد وحتى تعليم الاطفال

I deeply believe

وأنا اؤمن بشدة

that life is a much greater adventure

ان الحياة بأكملها هي مغامرة رائعة

if we manage to do politics

فأن استطعنا ان نمارس سياساتنا

without the trench between the left and the right wing.

بدون هذا الخندق الموجود بين التيار اليميني واليساري

Because we will throw away these political dogmas.

برمي كل الاعتقادات السياسية المسبقة الحكم

I deeply believe that we can make much more protection of the environment

فانا اؤمن بشدة انه يمكننا أن نكون أكثر حرصا على عالمنا

if we get rid -- if we throw overboard

إذا تخلصنا - أو رمينا هذا الحمل -

this fundamentalism that some of the greens have showed in the past.

فهذه الحتمية قد أتت أُكلها في الماضي

And that we can aim for much higher spirituality

كما يمكننا أيضا ان نستهدف روحانية أنقى وأرفع

if we get rid of the religious dogmas.

ان استطعنا ان نتخلص من الاعتقادات الدينية الخاطئة

Throwing overboard, as ballast, to change our direction.

وأن نرميها من على مركبنا كما نرمي الاحمال الثقيلة لكي نغير وجهتنا

Well, these basically are things I believed in such a long time.

صحيح ان هذا ما أؤمن به منذ زمن طويل

But actually I had to go around the world in a balloon

ولكن وجب علي ان ادور العالم بالمنطاد

to be invited to talk about it.

لكي تسنح لي الفرصة للتحدث عنه

(Laughter)

It's clear that it's not easy to know which ballast to drop

من الواضح انه من الصعب تحديد اي الاحمال يجب علينا رميه أولاً

and which altitude to take. Sometime we need

وأي إرتفاع يجب ان نعتمد - فأحيانا نحتاج

friends, family members or a psychiatrist.

للاصدقاء و للاقارب او للأطباء النفسين لكي نختار الخيار الصحيح

Well, in balloons we need weather men,

ونحن في المناطيد نحتاج لرجال الطقس

the one who calculate the direction of each layer of wind,

هؤلاء الذين يحسبون تماما اتجاه كل موجة " رياح "

at which altitude, in order to help the balloonist.

وعلى كل ارتفاع لكي يساعدوا قائد المنطاد بتوجيه حركته

But sometimes it's very paradoxical.

ولكن أحيانا تكون معلوماتهم متناقضة جداً لأهدافنا

When Brian Jones and I were flying around the world,

فعندما كنا نحلق انا وبراين جونز حول العالم

the weather man asked us, one day, to fly

طلب منا رجل الطقس ان نحلق

quite low, and very slow.

على ارتفاع منخفض جدا وببطىء شديد

And when we calculated we thought we're never going to make it

وعندما قمنا بحساباتنا الخاصة ادركنا اننا لن نكمل

around the world at that speed.

رحلتنا حول العالم ان استمرينا بنفس هذه السرعة

So, we disobeyed. We flew much higher, and double the speed.

لذا لم نتبع تعلمياته وقررنا الارتفاع اكثر وان نضاعف السرعة اكثر

And I was so proud to have found that jetstream

وقد كنت فرحا جداً باننا وصلنا الى طبقة تدفعنا بسرعة كبيرة

that I called the weather man,

لدرجة أني هاتفت رجل الطقس

and I told him, "Hey, guy, don't you think we're good pilots up there?

وأخبرته " الا تظن اننا طياران بارعان هنا في الاجواء "

We fly twice the speed you predicted."

" فنحن نحلق يضعف السرعة التي توقعتها لنا "

And he told me, "Don't do that. Go down immediately

فأخبرني " لاتقم بهذا , اهبط على الفور "

in order to slow down."

" لكي تخفف سرعتك "

And I started to argue. I said, "I'm not going to do that.

وبدأت بنقاشه ومعارضته وأنا اخبره لا لن أقوم بهذا

We don't have enough gas to fly so slow."

فنحن لانملك الوقود الكافي للتحليق بسرعة منخفضة

And he told me, "Yes, but with the low pressure you have on your left

فأجابني " نعم ولكن ومع وجود الضغط المنخفض على يسارك الان "

if you fly too fast, in a couple of hours

وبتحليقك السريع هذا فانه خلال ساعتين

you will turn left and end up at the North Pole.

سوف تنجرف معه وسوف تجد نفسك في القطب الشمالي !

(Laughter)

And then he asked me --

ثم طرح علي سؤلاً

and this is something I will never forget in my life --

وهذا شيءٌ لن أنساه البتة طيلة حياتي

he just asked me, "You're the good pilot up there.

قال " انت طيار بارعٌ الان ..

What do you really want? You want to go very fast

ولكن مالذي تريده حقاً ؟ ان تسير بسرعة

in the wrong direction, or slowly in the good direction?

في الاتجاه الخاطىء ام ان تسير ببطىء في الاتجاه الصحيح ؟ !

(Laughter)

( ضحك )

And this is why you need weathermen.

ولهذا نحتاج رجال الطقس

This is why you need people with long-term vision.

لهذا نحتاج هؤلاء الاشخاص بعيدو المدى

And this is precisely what fails

وهذا بالضبط ما هو فاشلٌ

in the political visions we have now,

في الرؤية السياسية التي نملك اليوم

in the political governments.

وفي الحكومات السياسية

We are burning, as you heard,

فنحن نحرق - كما تعلمون -

so much energy,

الكثير من الطاقة

not understanding that such an unsustainable

دون أن نعي ان هذا الاسراف المبذر

way of life cannot last for long.

لن يديم علينا هذه الحياة وقت طويلاً

So, we went down actually.

لذا ما علينا فعله الان هو ان نهبط الى الاسفل

We slowed down. And we went through moments of fears

لكي نخفف السرعة قليلا . وقد شعرنا في ذلك اليوم بلحظات خوف

because we had no idea how the little amount of gas

لاننا لم نكن نعلم تحديد كم بقي لدينا من الوقود

we had in the balloon

فقد كنا نملك في المنطاد

could allow us to travel 45,000 kilometers.

ما يسمح لنا بالتحليق 45000 كيلومترا

But we were expected to have doubts; we're expected to have fears.

ولكن يحق لنا ان نشك بهذا ويحق لنا ان نخاف من هذه التوقعات

And actually this is where the adventure really started.

وفي هذا الوقت بالذات بدأت المغامرة الحقيقية

When we were flying over the Sahara and India

فعندما كنا نحلق فوق الصحراء و فوق الهند

it was nice holidays.

لقد كان الامر كأنه نزهة في يوم عطلة

We could land anytime and fly back home with an airplane.

فقد كان بإمكاننا ان نهبط في اي مكان واي وقت وان نعود الى وطننا بالطائرة

In the middle of the Pacific,

ولكن الامر مختلف تماما في منتصف المحيط الهادىء

when you don't have the good winds, you cannot land,

فأنت لا تملك لا الرياح المناسبة ولا المكان المناسب للهبوط

you cannot go back.

كما لا يمكنك الرجوع الى الخلف

That's a crisis.

وكانت هذه هي المصيبة

That's the moment when you have to wake up

وفي تلك اللحظة وجب علينا ان نستيقظ

from the automatic way of thinking.

من اسلوب التفكير الاتوماتيكي الذي كنا نعتمده

That's the moment when you have to motivate

وهذا هو الوقت الذي يتوجب عليك به ان تحفز

your inner potential,

طاقاتك الداخلية

your creativity.

وابداعاتك

That's when you throw out all the ballast,

هنا يتوجب عليك ان تلقي كل الاحمال التي تحملها

all the certainties,

كل القناعات

in order to adapt to the new situation.

لكي تتأقلم مع الوضع الجديد

And actually, we changed completely our flight plan.

وقد قمنا فعلاً بذلك فقد غيرنا خطة سفرنا بالكامل

We changed completely our strategy.

وغير استراتيجيتنا بالكامل أيضاً

And after 20 days we landed successfully in Egypt.

وخلال 20 يوم من ذلك الحدث هبطنا في مصر بنجاح

But if I show you this picture

واذا نظرتم الى هذه الصورة

it's not to tell you how happy we were.

التي لا تظهر لكم كم نحن سعداء فحسب

It's to show you how much gas was left

بل كم بقي لدينا من الوقود آنذاك

in the last bottles.

في العبوات الاخيرة

We took off with 3.7 tons of liquid propane.

فقد بدأنا الرحلة ب3.7 طن من البروبان السائل

We landed with 40 kilos.

وهبطنا ب 40 كغ منه فقط

When I saw that, I made a promise to myself.

وعندما رأيت هذا , قطعت عهدا على نفسي

I made a promise that the next time I would fly around the world,

بان المرة القادمة التي سأسافر بها حول العالم

it would be with no fuel,

سأقوم بذلك بدون وقود

independent from fossil energies,

بدون الطاقة الاحفورية

in order to be safe,

لكي اكون في مأمن

not to be threatened by the fuel gauge.

ولكي لا اشعر بالخطر من إنتهائه

I had no idea how it was possible.

ولم يكن لدي اي فكرة عن امكانية ذلك

I just thought it's a dream and I want to do it.

وقد بدا لي الامر كحلم وكنت أرغب بتحقيقه

And when the capsule of my balloon was introduced

وعندما قدمت سلة منطادي

officially in the Air and Space Museum in Washington,

رسميا في متحف الفضاء والطيران في واشنطن

together with the airplane of Charles Lindbergh,

مع طاشرة شارلز ليندبيرغ

with Apollo 11, with the Wright Brothers' Flyer,

وأبولو 11 ومع طائرة الاخوان رايت

with Chuck Yeager's 61,

وطائرة تشاك ياجير

I had really a thought then.

فكرت حينها ..

I thought, well, the 20th century, that was brilliant.

ان القرن العشرين كان رائعاً فعلاً

It allowed to do all those things there.

فقد قمنا به بكل هذه الانجزات المعروضة هنا

But it will not be possible in the future any more.

ولكنها ليست مناسبة للمستقبل

It takes too much energy. It will cost too much.

لانها تستهلك الكثير من الطاقة والكثير من الاموال

It will be prohibited

وقد يُحظر استخدامها لاحقاً

because we'll have to save our natural resources

لانه يتوجب علينا حماية مصادرنا البيئية

in a few decades from now.

ربما خلال عقود من اليوم

So how can we perpetuate

فكيف يمكننا ان نديم هذه الموارد ؟

this pioneering spirit

تكمن الفكرة الريادية هنا

with something that will be independent from fossil energy?

بان نصنع شيئاً مستقلا عن الوقود الاحفوري

And this is when the project Solar Impulse

ويحدث هذا عندما ندفع في مشاريع الطاقة الشمسية

really started to

وقد بدأت هذه الفكرة

turn in my head.

تجول أكثر في دماغي

And I think it's a nice metaphor also

واظن انها فكرة جيدة أيضاً

for the 21st century.

للقرن الواحد والعشرين

Pioneering spirit should continue, but on another level.

فالفكر الريادي يجب ان يستمر ولكن على مستوى آخر

Not to conquer the planet or space,

لا لكي نسيطر على الارض او على الفضاء

not anymore, it has been done,

ليس اكثر مما نقوم به الان " لان هذا تم بالفعل "

but rather to improve the quality of life.

ولكن بأن نُحسن جودة معيشتنا عليه .

How can we go through the ice of certainty

كيف يمكننا اختراق جليد هذه القناعات

in order to make the most incredible a possible thing?

من أجل تحويل الامور التي لا تصدق اليوم الى أمور واقعية ؟

What is today completely impossible --

ان المستحيل اليوم هو

get rid of our dependency on fossil energy.

التخلص من الوقود الاحفوري والاستقلال عنه

If you tell to people, we want to be independent

ان اخبرت الناس انك تريد ان تستغني

from fossil energy in our world,

عن الوقود الاحفوري في عالمنا

people will laugh at you, except here,

سيضحك الناس عليك حتما - باستثناء هنا -

where crazy people are invited to speak.

حيث يدعى أشخاص مجنونون للتحدث !

So, the idea is that if we fly around the world

ان الفكرة التي نطمح إليها هي التحليق حول العالم

in a solar powered airplane,

بطائرة مسيرة على الطاقة الشمسية

using absolutely no fuel,

دون اي استخدام لاي نوع من الوقود الاحفوري

nobody ever could say in the future

ولا احد يستطيع القول انه في المستقبل

that it's impossible to do it

لن يقوم احدٌ بهذا

for cars, for heating systems,

من اجل السيارات او انظمة التدفئة

for computers, and so on and so on.

او الكمبيوترات . أو .. أو ..

Well, solar power airplanes are not new.

في الحقيقة ان الطائرات المعتمدة على الطاقة الشمسية امرٌ ليس جديد

They have flown in the past, but without

فقد طارت عدة منها في الماضي ولكن بدون

saving capabilities, without batteries.

قدرة على تخزين الطاقة - بدون بطاريات -

Which means that they have more proven

مما يعني انهم استطاعوا اثبات

the limits of renewable energies

قصور هذه الطاقات المتجددة

than the potential of it.

بدلا من قدراتها

If we want to show the potential,

ونحن نريد ان نثبت قدرتها ولكي نفعل ذلك

we have to fly day and night.

علينا التحليق ليلاً ونهاراً

That means to load the batteries during the flight,

هذا يعني أن نشحن بطاريات الطائرة اثناء التحليق

in order to spend the night on the batteries,

لكي يتسنى لها استخدامها ليلاً

and fly the next day again.

حتى اليوم التالي وشروق الشمس

It has been made, already, on remote controlled

وقد قمنا بذلك ولكنها طائرة بدون طيار

little airplane models, without pilots.

نموذج صغير يحلق بدون طيار

But it stays an anecdote

ولكنها بقيت خلف الاضواء

because the public couldn't identify to it.

لان الناس لم تميزها .

I think you need a pilot in the plane

لذا يتوجب علينا ان نضع طياراً في هذه الطائرة

that can talk to the universities,

لكي يتحدث الى الجامعات

that can talk to students,

والى الطلاب

talk to politicians during the flight,

والى السياسين اثناء تحليقه

and really make it a human adventure.

ولكي يجعلها مغامرة بشرية بحق !

For that, unfortunately,

ولهذا ولسوء الحظ

four meters wingspan is not enough.

فان اجنحة بمدى 4 امتار ليست كافية

You need 64 meter wingspan.

فنحن نحتاج اجنحة بمدى 64 متراً

64 meter wingspan to carry one pilot, the batteries,

64 متراً لحمل طيار واحد فقط - لان البطاريات تستطيع ..

flies slowly enough with the aerodynamic efficiency.

أن تدفع الطائرة ببطء برغم الاحتكاك الهوائي الاصغري المحسوب -

Why that? Because fuel is not easy to replace.

لماذا هذا ؟ - لانه يصعب الاستغناء عن الوقود الاحفوري -

That's for sure.

نعم هذا امرٌ مؤكد حتماً

And with 200 square meters of solar power on our plane,

لانه ب 200 متر مربع من انظمة الطاقة الشمسية على طائرتنا

we can produce the same energy

يمكننا ان ننتج فقط ما يعادل الطاقة

than 200 little lightbulbs.

التي ينتجها 200 مصباح اضاءة صغير

That means a Christmas tree, a big Christmas tree.

اي ما يكفي لانارة شجرة عيد ميلاد - شجرة كبيرة -

So the question is, how can you carry a pilot around the world

والسؤال المطروح هنا هو كيف يمكن حمل طيار حول العالم

with an airplane that uses

بواسطة طائرة تستخدم طاقة تعادل

the same amount of energy as a big Christmas tree?

تلك التي تستخدم في انارة شجرة عيد ميلاد ؟

People will tell you it's impossible,

سيقول لك الناس هذا مستحيل !

and that's exactly why we try to do it.

We launched the project with my colleague Andre Borschberg

six years ago.

We have now 70 people in the team working on it.

We have gone through the stages of simulation, design,

computing, preparing the construction

of the first prototype.

That has been achieved after two years of work.

Just the fuselage here, it's so light.

It's not designed by an artist, but it could be.

50 kilos for the entire fuselage.

هذا الجسم فقط وزنه 50 كغ

Couple of kilos more for the wing spars.

و باضافة وزن 2 كغ كوزن للاجنحة

This is the complete structure of the airplane.

نملك جسم طائرة متكامل

And one month ago we have unveiled it.

ومنذ شهر واحد قمنا باطلاقها اعلاميا

You cannot imagine how it is for a team

ولا يمكنكم تصور مدى فرحة الفريق بهذا

who has been working six years on it

بعد ستة سنوات من العمل عليها

to show that it's not only a dream and a vision,

لكي يثبتوا انها ليست مجرد تخيل او حلم

it's a real airplane.

انها الان طائرة حقيقية

A real airplane that we could finally present.

طائرة حقيقة يمكننا ان نعرضها اليوم للعامة

And what's the goal now?

وماهو الهدف الان ؟

The goal is to take off,

الهدف هو أن نقلع !

end of this year for the first test,

سنقوم بتجربة أولى في نهاية هذا العام

but mainly next year, spring or summer,

وعلى الاغلب في الربيع او الصيف القادم

take off, on our own power,

سنحلق بطاقة ذاتية

without additional help, without being towed,

بدون اي مساعدة او اي دفع من اي وسيلة اخرى

climb to 9,000 meters altitude.

لكي نصل الى ارتفاع 9000 متراً فوق سطح البحر

The same time we load the batteries,

وأثناء ذلك ستُشحن البطاريات

we run the engines, and when we get at the maximum height,

وستدور المحركات حتى الوصول الى الارتفاع الاقصى

we arrive at the beginning of the night.

حتى إقتراب الليل

And there, there will be just one goal, just one:

وسيكون على الطائرة تحقيق هدف واحد فقط

reach the next sunrise before the batteries are empty.

ان تدرك شروق الشمس المقبل قبل نفاد البطاريات

And this is exactly the symbol of our world.

If our airplane is too heavy,

فإذا كانت طائرتنا ثقيلةٌ جداً

if the pilot wastes energy,

فإن الطيار سيهدر الكثير من الوقود

we'll never make it through the night.

ولن يستطيع الصمود امام الليل

And in our world, if we keep on spoiling,

واذا استمرينا بالهدر كما نفعل اليوم

wasting our energy resources,

واستنزفنا موارد طاقتنا

if we keep on building things that consume so much energy

ببناء مباني تستنزف الكثير من الطاقة

that most of the companies now go bankrupt,

فان العديد من الشركات ستُفلس

it's clear that we'll never give the planet to the next generation

ولن نقدم الكوكب للجيل الجديد القادم

without a major problem.

الا ومعه مشاكل جمة

So, you see that this airplane is more a symbol.

لننظر الى هذه الطائرة كرمز

I don't think it will transport 200 people

صحيح انها لن تحمل 200 شخص

in the next years.

اليوم او حتى في السنوات المقبلة

But when Lindbergh crossed the Atlantic,

ولكن عندما قطع لندبيرغ الاطلنطي

the payload was also just sufficient

كان حمل طائرته مناسب فقط

for one person and some fuel.

لشخص واحد وقليل من الوقود

And 20 years later there were 200 people

وبعد عشرين عام من ذلك اليوم يحلق 200 شخص

in every airplane crossing the Atlantic.

في كل طائرة تعبر الاطلنطي

So, we have to start,

that all the certainties we have

What pleases me very much

ان ما يرضيني كثيرا الان

is that in the beginning I thought that we would have to fly

اني ظننت في البداية انه يتوجب علينا الطيران حول العالم

around the world with no fuel

in order to have our message been understood.

And more and more, we're invited around the world with Andre

ولكن اليوم فنحن - انا واندري - ندعى حول العالم

fly around the world in a solar-powered airplane.

لا بل النجاح سيأتي

if enough people are motivated

اذا تحميس العديد من الناس

to do exactly the same in their daily life,

للقيام بنفس الامر في حياتهم الخاصة

save energy, go to renewables.

بتوفير ما يمكن توفيره من الطاقة والانتقال الى الطاقة المتجددة

And this is possible. You know, with the technologies we have today,

وهذا امرٌ ممكن وكما تعلمون فان التكنولوجيا اليوم

we can save between 30 and 50 percent

تمكننا من توفير ما يقارب 30 الى 50 بالمئة

of the energy of a country in Europe,

من الطاقة المستخدمة في اوروبا

and we can solve half of the rest with renewables.

ويمكننا ان ننتج نصف النصف المتبقي من الطاقات المتجددة

It leaves 25 or 30 percent for

لكي يترك من 25 - 30 بالمئة

oil, gas, coal, nuclear, or whatever.

للغاز او النفط او الطاقة النووية

This is acceptable.

وهذا امر ممكن ومقبول

This is why all the people who believe

وجميعنا يملك اهدافا واحلاما

الذي ستنوون التخلص منه الان

Which will be the altitude at which

وعلى أي ارتفاع

لكي تصلوا الى النجاح الذي تتمنونه
