James A. White Sr.: The little problem I had renting a house

An 18-year-old, African-American male joined the United States Air Force

She didn't give me a response, and what she said was this:

She said, "Why don't you leave your number,

and if we have some openings, I'll give you a call?"

Needless to say, I did not get a call from her.

Nor did I get any responses from the other people

The piece that's important about that

is that we had similar kinds of experiences

For some reason, at that moment it just all hit me.

Just then, one of my grandsons called.

When they hear about these kinds of things happening to us, they say,

And so as a grandparent, what do I tell my grandsons?

So therefore, the only thing that I can do

أريد أن أناشد الأمريكيين.

I want to appeal to their humanity, to their dignity,

أريد أن أناشد إنسانيتهم، كرامتهم،

to their civic pride and ownership

فخرهم المدني و

to be able to not react to these heinous crimes in an adverse manner.

لكي يكون من الممكن عدم الرد على هذه الجرائم الشنيعة بطريقة عكسية.

But instead, to elevate your level of societal knowledge,

لكن بدلا عن ذلك، ان ترفع مستوى معرفتك المجتمعية،

your level of societal awareness and societal consciousness

مستوى وعيك المجتمعي و ضميرك المجتمعي

to then collectively come together, all of us come together,

لنأتي كلنا معاً، بشكل جماعي و مع بضعنا البعض،

to make sure that we speak out against and we challenge any kind of insanity,

لنتأكد من أننا نتكلم علنا ضد هذا و نتحدى كل نوع من انواع الجنون،

any kind of insanity that makes it okay to kill unarmed people,

اي نوع من الجنون الذي يجعل من الصحيح قتل ناس غير مسلحين.

regardless of their ethnicity,

بغض النظر عن أصولهم،

regardless of their race,

بغض النظر عن عرقهم،

regardless of their diversity makeup.

بغض النظر عن تنوعهم.

We have to challenge that. It doesn't make any sense.

يجب ان نتحدى هذا، هذا ليس فيه منطق.

The only way I think we can do that is through a collective.

الطريقة الوحيدة التي أظن أننا نستطيع تحقيق هذا عن طريق التعاون.

We need to have black and white and Asian and Hispanic

يجب أن يوجد سود و بيض آسيويين و لاتينيين

just to step forward and say,

ليتقدموا و يقولوا:

"We are not going to accept that kind of behavior anymore."

" نحن لن نقبل هذا النوع من التصرف بعد الآن."
