You MUST learn these 8 Informal English Contractions for Spoken English

Today, we're going to be talking about informal contractions including the word ‘you’.

ယနေ့တွင် 'သင်' ဟူသော စကားလုံး အပါအဝင် အလွတ်သဘော ကျုံ့ခြင်းများကို ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ ပြောပါမည်။

Now, these are very common among native speakers, and if you memorize them, and say them properly,

ယခု၊ ၎င်းတို့သည် မိခင်ဘာသာစကားပြောသူများကြားတွင် အလွန်အသုံးများပြီး ၎င်းတို့ကို အလွတ်ကျက်ပြီး မှန်ကန်စွာပြောပါက၊

you're going to sound like a native speaker, too.

သင်သည် မိခင်ဘာသာစကားပြောသူတစ်ဦးကဲ့သို့ပင် ဖြစ်လိမ့်မည်။

So let's pay close attention and jump right in.

ဒီတော့ သေချာအာရုံစိုက်ပြီး ခုန်ကြည့်လိုက်ကြရအောင်။

Okay, I have here my list of informal contractions including the word ‘you’.

ကောင်းပြီ၊ 'မင်း' ဟူသော စကားလုံးအပါအဝင် အလွတ်သဘော ကျုံ့ခြင်းစာရင်းကို ကျွန်ုပ်တွင် ရှိပါသည်။

And you'll notice that a lot of these the ‘you’ changes to a ‘cha’ sound,

'သင်' သည် 'cha' အသံအဖြစ်သို့ ပြောင်းလဲသွားသည်ကို သင်သတိပြုမိမည်ဖြစ်သော

so pay close attention to that.

ကြောင့် ၎င်းကို ဂရုပြုပါ။

I’m going to say each example twice.

ဥပမာတစ်ခုစီကို နှစ်ခါပြောမယ်။

I’ll say it's slow the first time and then I’ll say it at a native speaker speed the second time,

ပထမအကြိမ်က နှေးတယ်လို့ ပြောမယ်၊ ပြီးရင် ဒုတိယ အကြိမ်မှာ native speaker speed နဲ့ ပြောမယ်၊

so make sure you repeat after me each time.

ဒါကြောင့် အကြိမ်တိုင်း ငါ့နောက်မှာ ထပ်ပြောဖို့ သေချာပါစေ။

Okay, first one.

ကောင်းပြီ၊ ပထမတစ်ခု။

‘don't you’ = ‘dontcha’ ‘Dontcha like it?’

'မလုပ်နဲ့' = 'dontcha' 'Dontcha ကြိုက်လား'

‘Dontcha like it?’

'မကြိုက်ဘူးလား?'

Next. ‘won't you’ = ‘wontcha’

နောက်တစ်ခု။ 'Won't you' = 'wantcha'

‘Wontcha drive the car?’

'Wontcha ကားကို မောင်းမလား။'

‘Wontcha drive the car?’

'ကားမောင်းချင်လား'

‘what are you’ = ‘whatcha’ ‘Whatcha doing?’

'ဘာတွေလဲ' = 'ဘာတွေလဲ' 'ဘာလုပ်နေတာလဲ'

‘Whatcha doing?’

'ဘာလုပ်နေတာလဲ'

‘what have you’, also ‘whatcha’

'မင်းမှာ ဘာရှိလဲ' 'ဘာချာ'

‘Whatcha got there?’

'ဟိုမှာ ဘာရှိလဲ'

‘Whatcha got there?’

'ဘာရောက်နေတာလဲ'

‘bet you’ = ‘betcha’ ‘Betcha can't guess the answer.’

'bet you' = 'betcha' 'Betcha အဖြေကို ခန့်မှန်း၍မရပါ။'

‘Betcha can't guess the answer.’

'Betcha သည် အဖြေကို မခန့်မှန်းနိုင်ပါ။'

‘got you’ = ‘gotcha’ ‘I gotcha some chocolate.’

'ရပြီ' = 'gotcha' 'ချောကလက်နည်းနည်းရပြီ။'

‘I gotcha some chocolate.’

'ငါ ချောကလက်နည်းနည်းရပြီ'

‘didn't you’ = ‘didntcha’ ‘Didntcha like it?’

'မင်း မကြိုက်ဘူးလား' = 'didntcha' 'မကြိုက်ဘူးလား'

‘Didntcha like it?’

'မကြိုက်ဘူးလား'

Last one.

နောက်ဆုံးတစ်ခု။

‘do you’ = ‘doya’ ‘Doya want to come with me?’

'doya' = 'doya' 'Doya ငါနဲ့လိုက်ချင်တယ်'

‘Doya want to come with me?’

'Doya ငါနဲ့လိုက်ချင်လား'

Keep in mind these are only used for conversation, not in writing.
