6 Common Informal Contractions in Spoken English | kinda sorta outta alotta lotsa cuppa

In today's video, I’m going  to be telling you about some  

ในวิดีโอวันนี้ ฉันจะบอกคุณเกี่ยวกับ

informal contractions including the word ‘of’. 

การย่อแบบไม่เป็นทางการ รวมถึงคำว่า 'of'

Now, it's important to remember that these  types of contractions are just for conversation. 

สิ่งสำคัญคือต้องจำไว้ว่าการหดตัวประเภทนี้มีไว้เพื่อการสนทนาเท่านั้น

You don't want to use them in writing. So pay close attention. 

คุณไม่ต้องการใช้มันในการเขียน ดังนั้นจงใส่ใจให้ดี

And if you memorize how to say these  contractions, you’re gonna start sounding  

และถ้าคุณจำวิธีพูดคำย่อเหล่านี้ได้ คุณจะเริ่มมีเสียง

just like a native speaker.

Let’s take a look.

Alright, let’s take a look at my list of  common contractions including the word ‘of’. 

เอาล่ะ เรามาดูรายการคำย่อทั่วไปของฉันรวมทั้งคำว่า 'of' กัน

Now, in this list, instead of saying  ‘of’,

ในรายการนี้ แทนที่จะพูดว่า 'of'

we're going to use the ‘schwa’ sound, the kind of ‘uh’ sound  to make these contractions. 

เราจะใช้เสียง 'schwa' ซึ่งเป็นเสียง 'uh' เพื่อทำให้เกิดการหดตัว

I have six examples. I’ll say each of them twice. 

ฉันมีหกตัวอย่าง ฉันจะพูดแต่ละรายการสองครั้ง

The first time, I’ll say it slowly.

ครั้งแรกผมจะพูดช้าๆ

The second time, I’ll say it at  a normal speed like a native speaker.

ครั้งที่สองผมจะพูดด้วยความเร็วปกติเหมือนเจ้าของภาษา

It's really important that you repeat after me out loud each time.

มันสำคัญมากที่คุณจะต้องพูดตามฉันออกมาดัง ๆ ในแต่ละครั้ง

Here we go.

ไปเลย.

Okay, first one. ‘kind of’ = ‘kinda’ 

โอเค อันแรก 'kind of' = 'kinda'

‘She's kinda cute.’ ‘She's kinda cute.’ 

'เธอน่ารักจังเลย' 'เธอน่ารักนะ'

Next. ‘sort of’ = ‘sorta’ ‘I’m sorta tired’ 

ต่อไป. 'sort of' = 'sorta' 'ฉันเหนื่อยมาก'

‘I’m sorta tired’ 

'ฉันเหนื่อยมาก'

‘out of’ = ‘outta’ ‘I’m outta money.’ 

'out of' = 'outta' 'ฉันหมดเงินแล้ว'

‘I’m outta money.’ ‘a lot of’ = ‘alotta’ 

'เงินฉันหมดแล้ว' 'มาก' = 'จำนวนมาก'

‘They ate alotta cake.’ ‘They ate alotta cake.’ 

'พวกเขากินเค้กมาก' 'พวกเขากินเค้กเยอะมาก'

‘lots of’ = ‘lotsa’ ‘He has lotsa money.’ 

'จำนวนมาก' = 'จำนวนมาก' 'เขามีเงินมากมาย'

‘He has lotsa money.’ 

'เขามีเงินมากมาย'

Last one. ‘cup of’ = ‘cuppa’ 

อันสุดท้าย. 'cup of' = 'cuppa'

‘Would you like a cuppa coffee?’ ‘Would you like a cuppa coffee?’ 

'คุณรับกาแฟคัปป้าไหม' 'คุณต้องการกาแฟคัปป้าไหม'

Did you guys hear that schwa that ‘uh’ sound?

พวกคุณได้ยินเสียง schwa นั่นเสียง 'เอ่อ' บ้างไหม?

Alright, great job. Let's move on.

เอาล่ะ ทำได้ดีมาก เดินหน้าต่อไป

All right, let's take a look at a few dialogues.

เอาล่ะ เรามาดูบทสนทนากันสักหน่อย

And really pay close attention to these because I promise if you do it's going to  help you master these contractions. 

และให้ความสนใจกับสิ่งเหล่านี้ให้มาก เพราะผมสัญญาว่าถ้าคุณทำเช่นนี้ มันจะช่วยให้คุณเชี่ยวชาญการหดตัวเหล่านี้

Conversation 1. Which of these can be made into contractions? 

การสนทนา 1. ข้อใดที่สามารถทำให้เป็นการหดตัวได้?

Yes, these ones. “Buy me a cuppa coffee.” 

ใช่แล้ว พวกนี้ “ซื้อกาแฟคัปป้าให้ฉันหน่อย”

“Sorry. I’m outta money.” 

"ขอโทษ. เงินฉันหมดแล้ว”

Conversation 2. Which of these can be made into contractions? 

การสนทนา 2. ข้อใดสามารถทำให้เป็นการหดตัวได้?

Yes, these ones. “It's getting kinda hot.” 

ใช่แล้ว พวกนี้ “เริ่มจะร้อนแล้ว”

“Yes, we need to drink alotta water.” 

“ใช่ เราต้องดื่มน้ำเยอะๆ”

Conversation 3. Which of these can be made into contractions? 

การสนทนา 3. ข้อใดสามารถทำให้เป็นการหดตัวได้?

Yes, these ones. “I’m sorta tired.” 

ใช่แล้ว พวกนี้ “ฉันเหนื่อยจังเลย”

“Go home and get lotsa rest.” 

“กลับบ้านไปพักผ่อนเยอะๆ นะ”
