6 Common Informal Contractions in Spoken English | kinda sorta outta alotta lotsa cuppa

In today's video, I’m going  to be telling you about some

informal contractions including the word ‘of’. 

いくつかの非公式短縮形について説明します 。

Now, it's important to remember that these  types of contractions are just for conversation. 

ここで、この種の収縮は会話のためだけにあるということを覚えておくことが重要です。

You don't want to use them in writing. So pay close attention. 

書面では使用したくないでしょう。したがって、細心の注意を払ってください。

And if you memorize how to say these  contractions, you’re gonna start sounding  

これらの短縮形の言い方を覚えれば、

just like a native speaker.

ネイティブスピーカーのように聞こえるようになるでしょう。

Let’s take a look.

見てみましょう。

Alright, let’s take a look at my list of  common contractions including the word ‘of’. 

さて、「of」という単語を含む一般的な短縮形のリストを見てみましょう。

Now, in this list, instead of saying  ‘of’,

さて、このリストでは、「of」と言う代わりに、

we're going to use the ‘schwa’ sound, the kind of ‘uh’ sound  to make these contractions. 

これらの短縮音を作るための「uh」の音のような「schwa」音を使用します。

I have six examples. I’ll say each of them twice. 

6つの例があります。それぞれ2回ずつ言います。

The first time, I’ll say it slowly.

初めてなのでゆっくり言います。

The second time, I’ll say it at  a normal speed like a native speaker.

2回目はネイティブのように普通のスピードで言います。

It's really important that you repeat after me out loud each time.

毎回私の後に大声で繰り返すことがとても重要です。

Here we go.

さぁ行こう。

Okay, first one. ‘kind of’ = ‘kinda’ 

さて、最初の 1 つ。 「kind of」 = 「ちょっと」

‘She's kinda cute.’ ‘She's kinda cute.’ 

「彼女はちょっとかわいいね。」 「彼女はちょっとかわいいですね。」

Next. ‘sort of’ = ‘sorta’ ‘I’m sorta tired’ 

次。 「sort of」=「sorta」「ちょっと疲れた」

‘I’m sorta tired’ 

「ちょっと疲れた」

‘out of’ = ‘outta’ ‘I’m outta money.’ 

「out of」=「outta」「お金がなくなった」。

‘I’m outta money.’ ‘a lot of’ = ‘alotta’ 

「お金がないんです。」 「たくさん」 = 「alotta」

‘They ate alotta cake.’ ‘They ate alotta cake.’ 

「彼らは alotta ケーキを食べました。」 「彼らはアロッタケーキを食べました。」

‘lots of’ = ‘lotsa’ ‘He has lotsa money.’ 

'lots of' = 'lotsa' 「彼はたくさんのお金を持っています。」

‘He has lotsa money.’ 

「彼はたくさんのお金を持っています。」

Last one. ‘cup of’ = ‘cuppa’ 

最後の一つ。 「cup of」 = 「cuppa」

‘Would you like a cuppa coffee?’ ‘Would you like a cuppa coffee?’ 

「一杯のコーヒーはいかがですか？」 「カッパコーヒーはいかがですか？」

Did you guys hear that schwa that ‘uh’ sound?

シュワ、あの「えー」という音聞こえましたか？

All right, let's take a look at a few dialogues.

And really pay close attention to these because I promise if you do it's going to  help you master these contractions.

Conversation 1. Which of these can be made into contractions?

Yes, these ones. “Buy me a cuppa coffee.”

“Sorry. I’m outta money.” 

"ごめん。お金がないんだよ。」

Conversation 2. Which of these can be made into contractions? 

会話 2. 短縮形にできるのはどれですか?

Yes, these ones. “It's getting kinda hot.” 

はい、これらです。 「なんだか暑くなってきたね。」

“Yes, we need to drink alotta water.” 

「はい、水をたくさん飲む必要があります。」

Conversation 3. Which of these can be made into contractions? 

会話 3. 短縮形にできるのはどれですか?

Yes, these ones. “I’m sorta tired.” 

はい、これらです。 「なんだか疲れてしまった。」

“Go home and get lotsa rest.” 

「家に帰って、ゆっくり休んでください。」
