Being able to navigate is an extraordinary gift,

This day, for me, was the day that my whole life started.

It was with 17 South African men and me.

It took ages for us to find the money

Maiden became a passion.

And it was hard to raise the money --

In the end, King Hussein of Jordan sponsored Maiden,

and that was an amazing thing --

ကျွန်မတို့ဟာ ပြိုင်ပွဲမှာ ဒီလို သတင်းစကား ပါတဲ့ တစ်စင်းတည်းသော လှေပါ။

We won two legs of the Whitbread --

Whitbread ရဲ့ ပြိုင်ပွဲ နှစ်ထောက်ကို အနိုင်ရတယ်။

two of the most difficult legs --

အခက်အခဲဆုံး နှစ်ထောက်ပါ။

and we came second overall.

ခြုံပြောရရင် ဒုတိယ ချိတ်ခဲ့တယ်။

And that is still the best result for a British boat since 1977.

ဒါက ဗြိတိသျှ လှေတစ်စီးအတွက်တော့ ၁၉၇၇ ကတည်းကဆို အကောင်းဆုံး ဆုဖြစ်နေဆဲပါ။

It annoyed a lot of people.

လူအတော်များများ အနှောင့်အယှက်ဖြစ်ကြရတယ်

And I think what it did at the time --

အဲဒီအချိန်က ဖြစ်ခဲ့တာလို့ ထင်တယ်၊

we didn't realize.

You know, we crossed the finishing line, this incredible finish --

ကျွန်မတို့ ပန်းတိုင်ကို ကျော်ဖြတ်ခဲ့တယ်၊ မယုံနိုင်စရာ အဆုံးသတ်ပါ။

600 boats sailing up the Solent with us;

ကျွန်မတို့နဲ့အတူ Solent အထိ လှေပေါင်း ၆၀၀ ရွက်လွှင့်နေကြတယ်။

50,000 people in Ocean Village chanting "Maiden, Maiden" as we sailed in.

ရွက်လွှင့်စဉ် Ocean Village က လူ ၅၀၀၀၀ က"Maiden, Maiden" လို့ သံပြိုင်ဆိုနေတယ်

And so we knew we'd done something that we wanted to do

ဒီလိုနဲ့ လုပ်ချင်တာတစ်ခုကို အောင်မြင်ခဲ့ပြီလို့ သိခဲ့ပြီး

and we hoped we'd achieved something good,

ကောင်းတာတစ်ခုခု ပြီးမြောက်ပြီလို့ မျှော်လင့်ခဲ့ပေမဲ့

but we had no idea at the time how many women's lives we changed.

Southern Ocean က အကြိုက်ဆုံးသမုဒ္ဒရာပါ။

The Southern Ocean is my favorite ocean.

Each ocean has a character.

သမုဒ္ဒရာတိုင်းမှာ ဝိသေသတစ်ခုရှိတယ်။

So the North Atlantic is a yomping ocean.

ဒီတော့ North Atlantic က ခရီးကြမ်းနှင်တဲ့ သမုဒ္ဒရာပါ။

It's a jolly, go-for-it, heave-ho type of --

သွားဇို့ ပျော်စရာတစ်ခုပါ၊ အင်တိုက်အားတိုက် အမျိုးအစား

have-fun type of ocean.

ပျော်စရာ သမုဒ္ဒရာမျိုးပါ။

The Southern Ocean is a deadly serious ocean.

Southern Ocean က အသေ ပြင်းထန်တဲ့ သမုဒ္ဒရာပါ။

And you know the moment when you cross into the Southern Ocean --

Southern Ocean ကို သင် ဖြတ်ကူးခိုက်မှာ

the latitude and longitude --

လတ္တီတွဒ်နဲ့ လောင်ဂျီတွဒ်ကို သိတယ်၊

you know when you're there,

အဲဒီမှာ သင်ရှိနေတဲ့အခါ

the waves have been building,

လှိုင်းတွေ တည်ဆောက်နေတာ၊

they start getting big whitecaps on the top,

ထိပ်ဖျားမှာ လှိုင်းခေါင်းဖြူ ထနေတာကို သိတယ်၊

it becomes really gray,

ဒါက တကယ် မှိုင်းလာတယ်၊

you start to get sensory deprivation.

အာရုံခံ ချွတ်ယွင်းလာတယ်။

It is very focused on who you are and what you are

သင့်ပတ်လည်က ဧရာမကန္တာရနဲ့အတူ သင် ဘယ်သူ၊ ဘာဆိုတာက

with this massive wilderness around you.

ပြတ်သားသွားတယ်။

It is empty.

ဒါက ဗလာပါ။

It is so big and so empty.

သိပ်ကြီးပြီး သိပ်ဗလာဖြစ်နေတယ်။

You see albatrosses swirling around the boat.

လှေပတ်လည်မှာ ဝေ့နေတဲ့ ဇင်ယော်ကြီးတွေကို တွေရတယ်။

It takes about four days to sail through their territory,

ဒီခရီးစဉ်ကို ရွက်လွှင့်ဖို့ လေးရက်လောက် ကြာတော့

so you have the same albatross for four days.

လေးရက်လုံး ဒီဇင်ယော်ကြီးတွေပဲ ရှိတယ်။

And they find us quite a novelty,

ကျွန်မတို့ကို အဆန်းလို့ ထင်ကြတော့

so they literally windsurf off the wind that comes off the mainsail

ပင်မရွက်ကနေ ထွက်လာတဲ့ လေကနေ လှိုင်းစီးကြပြီ​း

and they hang behind the boat,

လှေနောက်မှာ တွဲလဲကျနေတယ်။

and you feel this presence behind you,

သင့်နောက်က ဒီရှိနေမှုကို ခံစားရတော့

and you turn around,

လှည့်ကြည့်လိုက်တယ်။

and it's this albatross just looking at you.

ဒီဇင်ယော်ကြီးတွေက သင့်ကို ကြည့်နေတယ်။

We sold Maiden at the end of the race --

ပြိုင်ပွဲအပြီး Maiden ကို ရောင်းလိုက်တယ်။

we still had no money.

ငွေက ရှိမနေသေးဘူးလေ။

And five years ago, we found her,

လွန်ခဲ့တဲ့ ငါးနှစ်က သူ့ကို တွေ့တယ်။

at the same time as a film director decided

ရုပ်ရှင်ဒါရိုက်တာက Maiden အကြောင်း မှတ်တမ်းတင်ရုပ်ရှင်

he wanted to make a documentary about Maiden.

ရိုက်ချင်တယ်လို့ ဆုံးဖြတ်တဲ့ တစ်ချိန်တည်းမှာပါ။

We found Maiden,

Maiden ကို တွေ့ခဲ့တယ်။

she burst back into my life

ကျွန်မဘဝထဲ ဗြုန်းခနဲ့ လာပြီး

and reminded me a lot of things I had forgotten, actually,

နှစ်တွေအကြာမှာ ကျွန်မ တကယ်ကို မေ့ပစ်ခဲ့တဲ့ အရာများစွာကို

over the years,

အမှတ်ရေစတယ်။

about following my heart and my gut

ကျွန်မရဲ့ နှလုံးသားနဲ့ စိတ်နောက်ကို လိုက်ခြင်းနဲ့

and really being part of the universe.

စကြဝဠာရဲ့ အစိတ်အပိုင်းဖြစ်ခြင်းပါ။

And everything I find important in life,

ဘဝမှာ အရေးကြီးတယ်လို့ ကျွန်မထင်တဲ့ အရာတိုင်းကို

Maiden has given back to me.

Maiden က ကျွန်မကို ပြန်ပေးတာပါ။

Again, we rescued her --

ထပ်ပြီး ကျွန်မတို့ သူ့ကို ကယ်တင်တယ်၊

we did a Crowdfunder --

Crowdfunder လုပ်ခဲ့တယ်။

we rescued her from the Seychelles.

Seychelles ဘုရင် Hussein ရဲ့ သမီး

Princess Haya, King Hussein's daughter,

မင်းသမီး Haya ဆီကနေ ကယ်တင်တယ်။

funded the shipping back to the UK and then the restoration.

UK ကို ပြန်ပို့ဖို့ ရံပုံငွေရှာတယ်။ နောက်တော့ ပြန်မွမ်းမံတာပေါ့။

All the original crew were involved.

မူလအဖွဲ့ဝင်အားလုံး ပါဝင်ခဲ့တယ်။

We put the original team back together.

မူလ အသင်းကို ပြန်စုစည်းခဲ့တယ်။

And then we decided, what are we going to do with Maiden?

ဒီနောက် Maiden နဲ့ ဘာလုပ်မယ်ဆိုတာကို ဆုံးဖြတ်ခဲ့ကြတယ်။

And this, for me, really was the moment of my life

ဒါက ကျွန်မအတွက်တော့ ကိုယ်လုပ်ခဲ့တဲ့ အရာတိုင်းကို

where I looked back on every single thing that I'd done --

ပြန်ကြည့်မိခဲ့တဲ့ တကယ့် ဘဝရဲ့ တဒင်္ဂပါ။

every project, every feeling,

စီမံချက်တိုင်း၊ ခံစားမှုတိုင်း

every passion, every battle, every fight --

စိတ်ထက်သန်မှုတိုင်း၊ တိုက်ပွဲတိုင်း၊ တွန်းလှန်မှုတိုင်းကိုပါ။

and I decided that I wanted Maiden to continue that fight

နောက်မျိုးဆက်အတွက် Maiden ကို ဒီတိုက်ပွဲကို ဆက်တိုက်စေချင်တယ်လို့

for the next generation.

ကျွန်မ ဆုံးဖြတ်လိုက်တယ်။

Maiden is sailing around the world on a five-year world tour.

Maiden ဟာ ငါးနှစ်တာ ကမ္ဘာ့ခရီးမှာ ကမ္ဘာပတ် ရွက်လွှင့်နေပါတယ်။

We are engaging with thousands of girls all over the world.

ကျွန်မတို့ဟာ တစ်ကမ္ဘာလုံးမှာရှိတဲ့ ထောင်ချီတဲ့ မိန်းကလေးတွေနဲ့ ဆက်စပ်နေတယ်။

We are supporting community programs that get girls into education.

မိန်းကလေးတွေ ပညာရေးမှာ ပါဝင်စေတဲ့ လူမှုရပ်ရွာ အစီအစဉ်တွေကို ပံ့ပိုးပေးနေတယ်။

Education doesn't just mean sitting in a classroom.

ပညာရေးဆိုတာက စာသင်ခန်းထဲမှာ ထိုင်နေခြင်းပဲလို့ မဆိုလိုဘူး။

This, for me, is about teaching girls you don't have to look a certain way,

ကျွန်မအတွက် မိန်းကလေးတွေကို သင်ကြား ပေးတာက တစ်နည်းနည်းနဲ့ ကြည့်ဖို့မလိုတာ၊

you don't have to feel a certain way,

တစ်နည်းနည်းနဲ့ ခံစားဖို့မလိုတာ၊

you don't have to behave a certain way.

တစ်နည်းနည်းနဲ့ ပြုမူဖို့မလိုတာကိုပါ။

You can be successful,

သင်ဟာ အောင်မြင်နိုင်တယ်။

you can follow your dreams

အိပ်မက်တွေနောက်ကို လိုက်ကာ

and you can fight for them.

ဒါတွေအတွက် တွန်းလှန်နိုင်ပါတယ်။

Life doesn't go from A to B.

ဘဝဟာ တစ်နေရာမှ တစ်နေရာကို မသွားဘူး။

It's messy.

ရှုပ်ထွေးပါတယ်။

My life has been a mess from beginning to end,

ကျွန်မရဲ့ဘဝဟာ အစကနေ အဆုံးအထိ အရှုပ်အထွေးတစ်ခု ဖြစ်ခဲ့ပေမဲ့

but somehow I've got to where we're going.

ကျွန်မတို့ သွားနေတာဆီ တစ်နည်းနည်းနဲ့ ရောက်ခဲ့တယ်။

The future for us and Maiden looks amazing.

ကျွန်မတို့နဲ့ Maiden အတွက် အနာဂတ်ဟာ အံ့ဩဖွယ်ဖြစ်ပုံရတယ်။

And for me,

ကျွန်မ အတွက်တော့

it is all about closing the circle.

အစကို ပြန်သွားလိုက်တာပါ။

It's about closing the circle with Maiden

Maiden နဲ့ အစကို ပြန်သွားလိုက်ပြီး

and using her to tell girls

ဒါကို သုံးရင်း မိန်းကလေးတွေကို ပြောပြတာက

that if just one person believes in you,

လူတစ်ယောက်ကပဲ သင့်ကို ယုံကြည်တယ်ဆိုရင်

you can do anything.
