One day a one-eyed monkey came into the forest.

But the king had an idea.

He announced a Swayamvara.

A anunţat o Swayamvara.

He invited all the princes to come and defeat his daughter at whistling.

A invitat toţi prinţii sǎ vinǎ şi sǎ o învingǎ pe fata lui la fluierat.

"Whoever defeats my daughter shall have half my kingdom

"Oricine o va învinge pe fata mea va avea jumătate din regatul meu

and her hand in marriage!"

Soon the palace filled with princes whistling.

În curând palatul era plin cu prinţi fluierind.

Some whistled badly.

Unii fluierau rǎu.

Some whistled well.

Unii fluierau bine.

But nobody could defeat the princess.

Dar nimeni nu a putut sǎ o întreacǎ pe prinţesǎ.

"Now what shall we do?" said the king.

"Ce facem acum?" a spus regele.

"Now what shall we do?" said the queen.

"Ce facem acum?" a spus regina.

But the princess said, "Father, Mother, don't worry.

Dar prinţesa a spus: "Tatǎ, mamǎ, nu vǎ faceţi griji.

I have an idea. I am going to go to each of these young men

am o idee. Mǎ voi duce la fiecare dintre aceşti tineri

and I am going to ask them

şi îi voi întreba

if they defeated correctly.

And if somebody answers, that shall be my wish."

So she went up to each and said, "Do you accept that I have defeated you?"

And they said, "Me? Defeated by a woman?

Şi ei au raspuns: "Eu? Învins de o femeie?

No way, that's impossible! No no no no no! That's not possible."

Nicidecum, asta e imposibil! Nu nu nu nu! Asta nu este posbil."

Till finally one prince said,

Pânǎ în sfârşit un prinţ a spus:

"Princess, I accept, you have defeated me."

"Prinţesǎ, admit, m-ai învins."

"Uh-huh ..." she said.

"uh-huh...." a spus ea.

"Father, mother, this man shall be my wife."

"Tatǎ, mamǎ, acest bǎrbat va fi soţia mea."
