I often get this question:

မကြာခဏ ဒီမေးခွန်း အမေးခံရတယ်။

"Why would anyone buy a piece of clothing that doesn't exist?"

မရှိတဲ့ အဝတ်တစ်ထည်ကို တစ်ယောက်ယောက်ကဘာကြောင့် ဝယ်မှာလဲ။

And as you can see, it's not that it doesn't exist.

Digital fashion is real, and it exists in so many virtual universes,

ဒစ်ဂျစ်တယ်ဖက်ရှင်က အစစ်အမှန်ဖြစ်ပြီး အသွင်တု စကြာဝဠာများစွာမှာ တည်ရှိတယ်။

ranging from basic social networks

to fully developed virtual worlds known as the metaverse,

letting people express themselves in a way not possible before.

I’ve been playing video games since I [can] remember,

dressing up my game character.

Actually, I enjoyed it more than dressing up myself.

Five years ago, I was running a physical fashion brand.

But because of my gaming experience,

I kept thinking:

“How and why could people wear digital garments?”

And there was a reason I believed they would.

သူတို့ဝတ်မယ်လိူ့ယုံတဲ့ အကြောင်းပြချက်တစ်ခုရှိတယ်။

In 2016, I did research on “hypebeast culture.”

You know, those people buying and selling garments

ဒီလူတွေက အမြဲ ရောင်းလို့ ကုန်သွားတဲ့ အထည်တွေကို

that are always sold out.

As part of this research,

I've joined various Facebook groups where they were gathering.

လူတွေ စုဝေးကြတဲ့ ဖေ့စ်ဘုတ်အဖွဲ့ မျိုးစုံကို ဝင်ခဲ့တယ်။

What I noticed was they were usually buying those pieces

သတိထားမိတာက သူတို့ ၀တ်ဆင်ထားတဲ့ ဓာတ်ပုံတစ်ပုံကို

just to post a photo of themselves wearing it on their social channels.

သူတို့ရဲ့ လူမှုကွန်ရက် စာမျက်နှာတွေမှာ တင်ဖို့ ၀ယ်ကြတာများတယ်ဆိုတာပါ။

And later on, they would resell it.

နောက်တော့ ဒါကို ပြန်ရောင်းတယ်။

So they didn't need or want the actual garment.

ဒီတော့ သူတို့က တကယ့်အဝတ်အစားကို မလိုအပ်ဘူး၊မလိုချင်ဘူး။

They wanted its image, and that image was being used online.

သူတို့လိုချင်တာက ဒါရဲ့ရုပ်ပုံ၊ ပြီးတော့ ဒီပုံကို အွန်လိုင်းမှာ သုံးနေတယ်။

And it made sense to me,

ပြီးတော့ ကျွန်မကို နားလည်သွားစေတာက

because, like most of my generation,

ကျွန်မရဲ့ မျိုးဆက် အများစုလိုပဲ

they had their friends, peers, role models in the virtual space,

သူတို့မှာ သူငယ်ချင်းတွေ၊ရွယ်တူတွေ၊စံပြ ပုဂ္ဂိုလ်တွေ ဒီအသွင်တု နေရာလပ်ထဲမှာရှိပြီး

and this is where we care to express ourselves.

ဒါက မိမိကိုယ်မိမိ ဖော်ပြဖို့ ဂရုစိုက်တဲ့ နေရာပါ။

This is when I started experimenting

ဒါက ဒစ်ဂျစ်တယ်ဖက်ရှင်လို့ ဒီနေ့

with what today we know as digital fashion.

ကျွန်မတို့သိတဲ့ အရာနဲ့ ကျွန်မ စပြီး စမ်းသပ်နေချိန်ပါ။

Now I run the world's first direct-to-consumer digital fashion brand

အခု ကမ္ဘာ့ ပထမဆုံး စားသုံးသူ တိုက်ရိုက်ဒ စ်ဂျစ်တယ်ဖက်ရှင်တံဆိပ်နဲ့

and a fashion tech house.

ဖက်ရှင်နည်းပညာရုံ ဖွင့်ထားတယ်။

We officially started last year,

မနှစ်က တရားဝင် စတင်ခဲ့ပြီး

and our growth has been unimaginable from a traditional fashion perspective.

Apart from doing our own designs,

we regularly collaborate with the biggest names from the industry.

With Carolina Herrera, we collaborated on a runway dress

and developed an app

အရှိကို ဆပွားတာကို

where you can wear the dress on your phone using augmented reality.

အသုဲံးပြုကာ သင့်ဖုန်းမှာ ဝတ်စုံ ဝတ်နိုင်တဲ့ အက်ပ်တစ်ခုကို ထွင်ထားတယ်။

And with Jean Paul Gaultier,

Jean Paul Gaultier နဲ့အတူ

we collaborated on a piece that was part of their couture collection.

သူတို့ ဖက်ရှင်ရဲ့ အပိုင်းအစတစ်ခုမှာ ပူးတွဲလုပ်ကိုင်ခဲ့တယ်။

We even have our flagship store in the Decentraland,

Decentraland မှာ metaverse က ပိုင်ပြီး

a metaverse owned and created by its users.

သုံးစွဲသူတွေက ဖန်တီးတဲ့ ကျွန်မတို့ရံ့ လူသိများတဲ့ ဆိုင်တောင်ရှိတယ်။

And we are not the only ones.

ကျွန်မတို့ချည်း မဟုတ်ပါဘူး။

For example, on Demat, an NFT marketplace,

fashion brands are selling authenticated digital fashion items

ဖက်ရှင်တံဆိပ်တွေဟာ အစစ်အမှန်ဖြစ်တာကိုပြသထားတဲ့ စထုတ်ပြိး

that are usually sold out as soon as they are released.

မကြာခင် အမြဲလိုလို ရောင်းကုန်သွားတဲ့ ပစ္စည်းတွေကိုရောင်းတယ်။

And as it was for me,

the games are becoming a gateway to digital fashion for many.

ဂီမ်းတွေဟာ ဒစ်ဂျစ်တယ် ဖက်ရှင်ဆီ ဝင်ပေါက်တစ်ခု ဖြစ်လာနေတယ်။

The biggest names in the luxury segment are eagerly trying to enter this space.

Balenciaga has collaborated with Fortnite,

and Gucci bag was sold inside Roblox for more than its worth in real life.

Fortnite itself has sold more than two billion worth of skins and game extras

But it's a misconception that creating digital fashion is quick and easy.

We often have to play by the same rules as in real-life physical fashion.

လက်တွေ့ဘဝ အထည်ဒြပ် ဖက်ရှင်လိုပဲ တူညီတဲ့ စည်းမျဥ်းတွေနဲ့ ကျွန်မတို့ ကစားရတာပါ။

Think back to a time when there were no computers

ကွန်ပြူတာတွေ မရှိခင် ပိုစတာတွေကို

and people were making posters by hand.

လက်နဲ့ ဖန်တီးတဲ့ အချိန်ကို ပြန်တွေးကြည့်ပါ။

When the software like Adobe Photoshop finally arrived,

နောက်ဆုံး Adobe Photoshop လို ဆော့ဖ်ဝဲတွေ ရောက်လာတဲ့အခါ

they thought making posters is going to be so much quicker and easier.

ပိုစတာတွေ ဖန်တီးတာက အများကြီး ပိုမြန်ပြီး ပိုလွယ်တော့မယ်လို့ ထင်ခဲ့ကြတယ်။

But obviously that wasn't true

ဒါပေမဲ့ ဒါက မမှန်ဘူးဆိုတာ ရှင်းနေပါတယ်။

because technology just replaced outdated principles with new possibilities.

နည်းပညာက ခေတ်ကုန်နေတဲ့ ဥပဒေသတွေကို ဖြစ် နိုင်ခြေ အသစ်တွေနဲ့ အစားထိုးလိုက်လို့ပါ။

So instead of doing most of the development in the physical space,

ဒီတော့ ရုပ်ပိုင်း နေရာလပ်ထဲမှာ တိုးတက်မှု အများဆုံး လုပ်နေတာအစား

we do it in front of our screens.

ဒါကို စခရင်တွေရှေ့မှာ ကျွန်မတို့ လုပ်တာပါ။

The process is the same, just the tools are different.

လုပ်ငန်းစဥ်က တူညီပြီး ကိရိယာတွေပဲ ခြားနားတာပါ။

And in the end,

အဆုံးမှာတော့ အရာတိုင်းဟာ

everything falls back to a complexity of a piece or a concept.

အပိုင်းအစ(သို့)အယူအဆတစ်ခုရဲ့ ခက်ခဲနက်နဲမှုဆီ ပြန်ရောက်သွားတယ်။

For example,

ဥပမာ အနေနဲ့

there's a huge difference in creating a basic T-shirt

ကြားခံကို ဂရုမထားဘဲ အခြေခံ တီရှပ်တစ်ထည် (သို့) ဖက်ရှင်လို

or a couture-like dress, regardless of the medium.

ဝတ်စုံတစ်စုံကို ဖန်တီးရာမှာ ဧရာမ ခြားနားချက်တစ်ခုရှိတယ်။

And the digital realm somehow forces you to go into that exploratory direction.

စူးစမ်းလေ့လာရေးဘက်ဆီ သွားဖို့ ဒစ်ဂျစ် တယ်လောက တစ်နည်းနည်းနဲ့ တွန်အားးပေးတယ်။

Because do you even need a physical T-shirt in a virtual space?

အသွင်တု နေရာမှာ အထည်ဒြပ်ရှိတဲ့ တီရှပ်တစ်ထည် ဘာကြောင့် လိုအပ်တာလဲ။

With digital fashion, you can experience fashion in its purest form,

ဒစ်ဂျစ်တယ်ဖက်ရှင်နဲ့ဆို လက်တွေ့ကျတဲ့ အတားအဆီးတွေ ကင်းစင်တဲ့ အသန့်ရှင်းဆုံး

devoid of functional barriers.

ဖက်ရှင်ပုံစံကို တွေ့ကြုံခံစားနိုင်တယ်။

You don't need your sleeves there.

အဲဒီမှာ အင်္ကျီလက်တွေ မလိုဘူး။

You don't even need your hands.

လက်တွေတောင် မလိုဘူးလေ။

Digital fashion is not an alternative but an evolutionary step.

ဒစ်ဂျစ်တယ်ဖက်ရှင်သည် အခြားရွေးချယ်စရာ မဟုတ်ပေမဲ့ ဆင့်ကဲဖြစ်စဉ်တစ်ခုပါ။

And we are currently at the beginning of this new era.

ပြီးတော့ ကျွန်မတို့က လောလောဆယ် ဒီခေတ်သစ်ရဲ့အစမှာလေ။

An era where digital garments could become an added layer to our reality,

ဒစ်ဂျစ်တယ်အဝတ်အစားတွေက ကျွန်မတို့အရှိတရား အတွက် ထပ်လောင်းအလွှာတစ်ခုဖြစ်လာတဲ့ ခေတ်ပါ။

where you will be able to instantly choose to whom you want to present yourself

ဝတ်စုံ အမျိုးမျိုး ဝတ်ရင်း တစ်ချိန်တည်းမှာ

wearing multiple different outfits at the same time

AR သို့မဟုတ် VR လို ခေတ်မီဆုံးနည်းပညာကို သုံးရင်း

and using most advanced technology, like AR or VR for example.

ကိုယ် ကိုယ်ထင်ပ ချင်တဲ့ သူတွေအတွက် ချက်ချင်း ရွေးချယ်နိုင်မယ့် နေရာပါ။

And not only does it allow for self-expression

လုံးဝကွဲပြားခြားနားတဲ့ အခြေအနေတွေမှာ မိမိကိုယ်မိမိ

in totally different contexts,

ထုတ်ဖော်ခွင့်ပေးရုံမက

but digital fashion can be zero-waste and inclusive, available to users,

ဒစ်ဂျစ်တယ်ဖက်ရှင်ဟာ အဖြုန်း သုညနဲ့ ကျား၊မ၊ အရွယ်၊ လူမျိုး မခွဲခြားဘဲ

regardless of their gender, size or race.

သုံးစွဲသူအားလုံး အကျုံးဝင်နိုင််တာပါ။

I come from Croatia,

ကျွန်မက ခရိုအေးရှားက လာတာပါ။

a country that is nowhere on the fashion map,

ဖက်ရှင်မြေပုံပေါ်မှာ မရှိတဲ့ နိုင်ငံဆိုပေမဲ့

yet my company is considered one of the pioneers of this field.

ကျွန်မရဲ့ကုမ္ပဏီက ဒီနယ်ပယ်ရဲ့ ရှေ့ဆောင်တွေထဲက တစ်ခုလို့ မှတ်ယူခံရတယ်။

When we started, we were among the few doing it.

စစချင်းတုန်းက ဒါကို လုပ်နေတဲ့ အနည်းငယ်ထဲမှာ ပါပါတယ်။

And since then,

အဲဒီအချိန်ကတည်းက

a whole new evolving market has grown around it.

Digital fashion market is going to be huge.

ဒစ်ဂျစ်တယ်ဖက်ရှင်စျေးကွက်က ကြီးမားလာတော့မှာပါ။

But from my experience, no one knows how far it could go.

ဒါပေမဲ့ အတွေ့အကြုံအရ ဘယ်လောက်အထိ သွားနိုင်မလဲဆိုတာ ဘယ်သူမှ မသိဘူးလေ။

It's fairly simple.

ဒါက အတော်လေး ရိုးပါတယ်။

Technology usually grows exponentially, and so will our virtual presence.

နည်းပညာက အဆမတန် ကြီးထွားလာပြီး လူတွေရဲ့ အသွင်တု တည်ရှိမှုလည်း အလားတူဖြစ်မှာပါ၊

တစ်ယောက်ယောက်က ဒီလူတွေကို ဆင်ပေးဖို့ လိုတယ်လေ။

And someone has to dress these people.
