I come to you today to speak of liars,

The first time I heard about Holocaust denial,

Well, first of all, the victims --

And these two guys said,

So thinking, if they thought it was worthwhile,

I did my research, and I came up with a number of things,

What I found instead

Who was David Irving?

David Irving was a writer of historical works,

The reason I laughed also was this was a man

This was not a man who seemed at all ashamed or reticent

Now, lots of my academic colleagues counseled me --

The judge found David Irving

What can we do?

we cannot be beguiled by rational appearances.

We've got to look underneath,

और वहां पर हम अतिवाद को देख पाएंगे.

और दूसरा,

we must understand that truth is not relative.

हमें समझना होगा कि सत्य सापेक्ष नहीं होता

Number three,

तीसरा,

we must go on the offensive,

हमें आक्रामक होना होगा,

not the defensive.

रक्षात्मक नहीं.

When someone makes an outrageous claim,

जब कोई जघन्य दावा करता है,

even though they may hold one of the highest offices in the land,

चाहे वह उस देश का सर्वोच्च अधिकारी ही क्यों न हो,

if not the world --

दुनिया चाहे न कहे -

we must say to them,

हमें उनसे कहना होगा,

"Where's the proof?

प्रमाण कहाँ है?

Where's the evidence?"

साक्ष्य क्या है?

We must hold their feet to the fire.

हमें उनके पैरों तले आग लगानी ही होगी.

We must not treat it as if their lies are the same as the facts.

हमें यह नहीं मान लेना चाहिए कि उनके झूठ उनके तथ्यों जैसे ही हैं.

And as I said earlier, truth is not relative.

और जैसा मैंने पहले बताया, सत्य सापेक्ष नहीं है.

Many of us have grown up in the world of the academy

हम में से कई लोग ज्ञान तथा प्रबुद्ध स्वतंत्र विचारों के विश्व में बड़े हुए हैं

and enlightened liberal thought,

where we're taught everything is open to debate.

जहां हमें सिखाया गया है कि हर चीज़ पर तर्क किया जा सकता है.

But that's not the case.

पर मुद्दा यह नहीं है.

There are certain things that are true.

कुछ बातें हैं जो सत्य हैं.

There are indisputable facts --

अकाट्य तथ्य होते हैं -

objective truths.

वस्तुपरक सत्य.

Galileo taught it to us centuries ago.

गैलीलियो हमें यह कई सदियों पूर्व समझा चुके हैं.

Even after being forced to recant by the Vatican

वेटिकन द्वारा इस तथ्य के खण्डन के दबाव के बाद भी

that the Earth moved around the Sun,

कि पृथ्वी सूर्य के चारों और घूमती है,

he came out,

वह बाहर आया,

and what is he reported to have said?

और कथित रूप से उन्होंने क्या कहा होगा?

"And yet, it still moves."

The Earth is not flat.

The climate is changing.

Elvis is not alive.
