‘Affordable’ means that this dress is not too expensive.

'ਕਿਫਾਇਤੀ' ਦਾ ਮਤਲਬ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਪਹਿਰਾਵਾ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਮਹਿੰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।

I have enough money and I can pay for this dress.

ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਪੈਸੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਪਹਿਰਾਵੇ ਲਈ ਭੁਗਤਾਨ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

I have enough money, I ‘can’ buy this dress.

ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਪੈਸੇ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਪਹਿਰਾਵਾ ਖਰੀਦ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

So, I would say, “This dress is affordable.”

I can also say, “This dress is inexpensive.”

We all know what ‘expensive’ is, but we say “inexpensive”, so that’s the opposite.

‘Affordable’ and ‘inexpensive’ have very similar meanings.

Then we have “cheap”.

“This dress is cheap.”

Now ‘cheap’ is similar.

ਹੁਣ 'ਸਸਤੀ' ਵੀ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੈ।

It means it’s not expensive, but it’s a little bit more negative.

ਇਸਦਾ ਮਤਲਬ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਮਹਿੰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਥੋੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਰ ਨਕਾਰਾਤਮਕ ਹੈ.

If you say that something is “cheap”, people may think that the quality is not very

ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰਾ ਪੈਸਾ ਖਰਚ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ...ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਪੈਸਾ।

Maybe I don’t want to buy it.

ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਮੈਂ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਰੀਦਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ।

We can also say, “over-priced”.

ਅਸੀਂ "ਵੱਧ-ਕੀਮਤ" ਵੀ ਕਹਿ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ।

“This dress is over-priced.”

"ਇਹ ਪਹਿਰਾਵਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਕੀਮਤ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।"

That means the price is too high.

ਭਾਵ ਕੀਮਤ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਹੈ।

So again, I don’t want to buy this dress.

ਇਸ ਲਈ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ, ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਪਹਿਰਾਵਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਰੀਦਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ।

It’s too expensive and over-priced.

ਇਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਹਿੰਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਵੱਧ ਕੀਮਤ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।

Ok, let’s look at some more examples together.

Ok, so in this video, we learned that when we want to describe the cost of something,

Something is ‘affordable’ if it’s not too expensive.

ਕੋਈ ਚੀਜ਼ 'ਕਿਫਾਇਤੀ' ਹੈ ਜੇਕਰ ਇਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਹਿੰਗੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।

If I can buy it with the money I have.

ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਪੈਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਖਰੀਦ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ.

On the other hand, if something is not affordable, if the cost is very high, we say “expensive”

ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ, ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਚੀਜ਼ ਕਿਫਾਇਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਜੇਕਰ ਲਾਗਤ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ "ਮਹਿੰਗੇ"

or “over-priced”.

For me, ahh…I think some brands like H&M and Forever21 are affordable.

Some people don’t think this way.

They think it’s cheap.

Uhh…sometimes, yes.

Some of the items can be cheap.

But for me, I like those brands because they are affordable.

Ahhh…another store that I like, in Korea…it’s called Zara or 자라, in Korea as they say.
