So what is a poem?

It's an arrangement of words written or spoken.

They usually rhyme.

They are a great way to express your experiences, ideas, or emotions, in an artful way.

So, why do we write poetry?

Because poetry is beautiful and I want to share that beauty with you.

Here is my poem. I wrote it.

ဒီမှာ ငါ့ကဗျာ။ ကျွန်တော်ရေးတယ်။

So let's look at my poem and I’ll read it now.

ငါ့ကဗျာကို ကြည့်ပြီး အခုဖတ်မယ်။

“In the morning, when I’m alone, I like to watch the sun rise up.

“မနက်ကျတော့ တစ်ယောက်တည်း နေထွက်တာကို ကြည့်ရတာ ကြိုက်တယ်။

I play soft music on my phone, I drink fresh coffee from my cup.

ဖုန်းထဲမှာ သီချင်းအေးအေးလေးတွေဖွင့်ပြီး ခွက်ထဲက ကော်ဖီကို လတ်လတ်ဆတ်ဆတ် သောက်လိုက်တယ်။

The sun is shining fresh and bright, The sky outside is clear and blue,

နေရောင်က တောက်ပပြီး တောက်ပနေတယ်၊ ​​အပြင်က ကောင်းကင်က ကြည်လင်ပြီး ပြာနေတယ်၊

My mind is calm, My heart is light,

​​ငါ့စိတ်က အေးချမ်းတယ်၊ ငါ့နှလုံးသားက ပေါ့ပါးတယ်၊

Today will be a good day, too.”

ဒီနေ့လည်း သာယာတဲ့နေ့ဖြစ်လိမ့်မယ်။"

So this is a short poem.

ဒီတော့ ဒါက ကဗျာအတိုလေးပါ။

And I want to teach you about rhyme.

ပြီးတော့ Rhyme အကြောင်း သင်ပေးချင်ပါတယ်။

‘rhyme’ in poetry.

ကဗျာတွင် 'ကာတွန်း'။

So let's look at the last words of each line.

စာကြောင်းတစ်ကြောင်းချင်းစီရဲ့ နောက်ဆုံးစကားလုံးတွေကို ကြည့်ရအောင်။

“alone” “alone”

"တစ်ကိုယ်တည်း" "တစ်ကိုယ်တည်း"

Does it rhyme with the word "up"?

"တက်" ဟူသော စကားလုံးနှင့် ရောစပ်နေပါသလား။

“alone” “up” No.

“တစ်ကိုယ်တည်း” “တက်” အမှတ်။

Rhyming words have a similar sound.

တေးဆို စကားလုံးများသည် ဆင်တူသော အသံရှိသည်။

So “alone” and “up” don't rhyme

ထို့ကြောင့် "တစ်ကိုယ်တည်း" နှင့် "တက်" သည် ကာရန်မညီ

but “alone” and “phone” do rhyme.

သော်လည်း "တစ်ကိုယ်တည်း" နှင့် "ဖုန်း" တို့က ကာရံထားသည်။

“alone” and “phone” have a similar sound.

"တစ်ဦးတည်း" နှင့် "ဖုန်း" တွင် ဆင်တူသော အသံရှိသည်။

And “up” and “cup” have a similar sound.

“တက်” နှင့် “ခွက်” သည် ဆင်တူသော အသံရှိသည်။

So this is the rhyme scheme, or the rhyme pattern of this poem.

This poem has different rhyming words, so we're going to call

ဒီကဗျာမှာ မတူညီတဲ့ ကာရန်စကားလုံးတွေ ပါတဲ့အတွက်

“alone” rhyme A

"တစ်ကိုယ်တည်း" ကာရံ A

and “up” is rhyme B.

နဲ့ "တက်" က ကာဘီ B လို့ ခေါ်ပါတယ်။

And “phone” is A.

ပြီးတော့ "ဖုန်း" က A

And...

နဲ့ ...

“cup” is B.

"ခွက်" က B

“alone” “up” “phone” “cup”

"တစ်ယောက်တည်း" "တက်" “ဖုန်း” “ခွက်”

This is our rhyme pattern or our rhyme scheme.

ဟူသည်မှာ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့၏ ကာရံပုံစံ သို့မဟုတ် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့၏ ကာရံအစီအစဉ်ဖြစ်သည်။

And in the next part, it's very similar.

နောက်အပိုင်းမှာတော့ အရမ်းတူပါတယ်။

“bright” and “blue” don't rhyme

"တောက်ပ" နှင့် "အပြာ" တို့သည် ကာရန်မညီ

but “bright” rhymes with “light”

သော်လည်း "အလင်း"

and “blue” rhymes with “too”

နှင့် "အပြာ" တေးသွားများသည် "လွန်း" ဖြင့် ကာရံထားသော

so...

these are new words we'll label them

C, “bright”

and “blue” is D,

Not all poems have to rhyme.

It's something good to try.

It's traditional.

So this is our rhyme and our rhyming pattern.

ဒီတော့ ဒါက ငါတို့ရဲ့ ကာရံနဲ့ ငါတို့ရဲ့ ကာရန်ပုံစံပဲ။

And also, in poems we need a stanza.

နောက်ပြီး ကဗျာတွေမှာလည်း တစ်ပိုဒ်လိုတယ်။

This poem has two stanzas, or two parts.

ဤကဗျာတွင် စာပိုဒ်နှစ်ပိုဒ် သို့မဟုတ် နှစ်ပိုင်းရှိသည်။

So a stanza is a part of a poem.

ဒါကြောင့် စာပိုဒ်တစ်ပိုဒ်ဟာ ကဗျာတစ်ပုဒ်ရဲ့ အစိတ်အပိုင်းတစ်ခုပါ။

This is part one. This is part two.

ဒါက အပိုင်းတစ်ပါ။ ဒါက အပိုင်းနှစ်ပါ။

Some poems have many many stanzas but this poem has only two.

အချို့ကဗျာများတွင် စာပိုဒ်များစွာပါသော်လည်း ဤကဗျာတွင် နှစ်ပုဒ်သာရှိသည်။

A stanza can be two lines long.

စာပိုဒ်တစ်ပိုဒ်သည် နှစ်ကြောင်းရှည်နိုင်သည်။

But my stanzas are four lines.

ဒါပေမယ့် ငါ့စာပိုဒ်တွေက လေးကြောင်းရှိတယ်။

And you can write as many as you want.

ပြီးတော့ ကြိုက်သလောက်ရေးလို့ရပါတယ်။

But a simple poem will be one or two stanzas.

ဒါပေမယ့် ရိုးရိုးကဗျာတစ်ပုဒ်က တစ်ပိုဒ်၊ နှစ်ပိုဒ်ပဲ ရှိလိမ့်မယ်။

Also, in my poem, there are many images, there are many pictures of things.

နောက်ပြီး ငါ့ကဗျာမှာ ပုံတွေ အများကြီးရှိတယ်၊ ပုံတွေ အများကြီးရှိတယ်။

When you write a poem you want to add some images.

ကဗျာတစ်ပုဒ်ရေးတဲ့အခါ ပုံလေးတွေထည့်ချင်တာ။

It says, “I like to watch the sun rise up,”

“နေထွက်တာကို ကြည့်ရတာကြိုက်တယ်”

“The sun” is an image.

“နေ” သည် ပုံတစ်ပုံဖြစ်သည်။

“I play soft music on my phone, ” “The phone” is an image.

“ဖုန်းထဲမှာ သီချင်းတွေ ဆော့နေတယ်” “ဖုန်း” သည် ပုံတစ်ခုဖြစ်သည်။

“I drink fresh coffee from my cup, ” “cup” is an image.

“ငါ့ခွက်ထဲက ကော်ဖီ လတ်လတ်ဆတ်ဆတ် သောက်နေတယ်” “ခွက်” သည် ပုံတစ်ခုဖြစ်သည်။

So when you write a poem, maybe you can put in some pictures of things.

ဒါကြောင့် ကဗျာတစ်ပုဒ်ရေးတဲ့အခါ တစ်ချို့အရာတွေကို ပုံတွေထဲထည့်လို့ရပါတယ်။

Also when you finish adding your images,

သင့်ပုံများကိုထည့်ခြင်းပြီးသောအခါ၊

if you want to add some repeating words to your poem.

သင့်ကဗျာတွင် ထပ်တလဲလဲစကားလုံးအချို့ထည့်လိုပါက။

Do you see any repeating words in my poem?

ငါ့ကဗျာထဲမှာ ထပ်ခါထပ်ခါ စကားလုံးတွေ တွေ့လား

I think the word ‘I’ repeats.

'ငါ' ဟူသော စကားလုံးကို ထပ်ခါထပ်ခါ တွေးမိသည်။

“I like to watch” “I play music”

“ကြည့်ရတာ ကြိုက်တယ်” “သီချင်းဖွင့်တယ်”

“I drink fresh coffee” “I... I... I...”

“ကော်ဖီ လတ်လတ်ဆတ်ဆတ် သောက်တယ်” “ငါ… ငါ… ငါ…”

And in other places, too.

နဲ့ တခြားနေရာတွေမှာလည်း ပါပါတယ်။

“My mind is calm” “My heart is light”

“ငါ့စိတ်က ငြိမ်သက်နေတယ်” “ငါ့နှလုံးသားက ပေါ့ပါးနေတယ်”

So repeating words are also beautiful in a poem.

ဒါကြောင့် ထပ်ခါထပ်ခါ စကားလုံးတွေက ကဗျာတစ်ပုဒ်ထဲမှာလည်း လှပပါတယ်။

You don't have to repeat words,

စကားလုံးတွေ ထပ်ပြောနေစရာ မလို

but they make the poem more lovely.

ပေမယ့် ကဗျာကို ပိုချစ်ဖို့ကောင်းတယ်။

So that is our images and our repeating words.

အဲဒါက ကျွန်တော်တို့ရဲ့ ရုပ်ပုံတွေနဲ့ ထပ်တလဲလဲ စကားတွေပါ။

So are… uh… so our images were

ဒါပဲလား… အိုး… ဒါဆို ငါတို့ပုံတွေက

“sun”

“နေ”

and “phone”

၊ “ဖုန်း”

and “cup”.

နဲ့ “ခွက်” တွေ။

And there's one more thing a poem needs that this poem does not have.

ပြီးတော့ ဒီကဗျာမှာ မရှိမဖြစ် လိုအပ်တာ တစ်ခုရှိသေးတယ်။

A poem needs a title.

ကဗျာတစ်ပုဒ်မှာ ခေါင်းစဉ်တစ်ခုလိုတယ်။

So, everyone… what do you think?

ကဲ... အားလုံးရော ဘယ်လိုထင်လဲ။

My poem has no title.

ငါ့ကဗျာမှာ ခေါင်းစဉ်မရှိ။

Let's learn how to write your own poem.

ကိုယ်ပိုင်ကဗျာရေးနည်းကို လေ့လာကြည့်ရအောင်။

So we have looked at my poem, and now, I want to teach you how to write your own poem.

ဒါကြောင့် ငါ့ကဗျာကို ကြည့်ပြီးပြီ၊ အခု မင်းကို ကိုယ့်ကဗျာကိုယ် ဘယ်လိုရေးရမလဲ သင်ပေးချင်တယ်။

So when we write a poem, we want to start with the main idea.

ဒါကြောင့် ကဗျာရေးတဲ့အခါ အဓိက စိတ်ကူးနဲ့ စချင်တယ်။

And the main idea can also be our title.

ပြီးတော့ အဓိက စိတ်ကူးက ကျွန်တော်တို့ရဲ့ ခေါင်းစဉ်လည်း ဖြစ်နိုင်ပါတယ်။

So I want to choose an easy main idea for this poem.

ဒါကြောင့် ဒီကဗျာအတွက် လွယ်ကူတဲ့ အဓိကစိတ်ကူးကို ရွေးချယ်ချင်ပါတယ်။

Let's go with “Summer”.

"နွေရာသီ" နဲ့ သွားကြရအောင်။

“Summer” is a great title,

“Summer” သည် ခေါင်းစဉ်ကောင်းတစ်ခုဖြစ်သော

so I will write the word ‘Summer’ here.

ကြောင့် ဤနေရာတွင် 'နွေရာသီ' ဟူသော စကားလုံးကို ရေးပါမည်။

So if our title is “Summer,” let's think about some images that go with summer.

ဒါကြောင့် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ရဲ့ ခေါင်းစဉ်က "နွေရာသီ" ဆိုရင် နွေရာသီနဲ့ လိုက်ဖက်တဲ့ ပုံတချို့ကို စဉ်းစားကြည့်ရအောင်။

I think we all think about the sun in summer.

ကျွန်တော်တို့အားလုံး နွေရာသီမှာ နေကို တွေးနေကြတယ်လို့ ထင်ပါတယ်။

So what rhymes with “sun,” everybody? “sun” rhymes with “ton”.

ဒီတော့ လူတိုင်းလူတိုင်း “နေ” နဲ့ ဘာသံလဲ။ "နေ" သည် "တန်" နှင့် ပေါင်းစပ်ထားသည်။

Rhymes with “one”. Rhymes with “run”.

"တစ်ခု" နှင့်တေးများ။ "ပြေး" သီချင်းများ။

But I think I want to choose “fun”.

ဒါပေမယ့် “ပျော်စရာ” ကို ရွေးချင်တယ်လို့ ထင်ပါတယ်။

“sun” and “fun” can be my rhymes.

"နေ" နှင့် "ပျော်စရာ" သည် ကျွန်ုပ်၏တေးသီချင်းများဖြစ်သည်။

But also, when it's hot outside, what do you want?

အပြင်မှာ နေပူရင် ဘာလိုချင်လဲ။

I usually want to drink something cold. I want to drink soda or an icy drink.

So my first line, I think will be about drinking something cold.

ဒါကြောင့် ကျွန်တော့်ရဲ့ ပထမစာကြောင်းက အအေးတစ်ခုခုသောက်တာဖြစ်မယ်ထင်တယ်။

There we go.

အဲဒီကို သွားမယ်။

“Cool soda can,”

"အအေးဆိုဒါဗူး"

‘Cool soda can,’ is my first line.

'အအေးဆိုဒါဗူး' သည် ကျွန်ုပ်၏ ပထမဆုံးစာကြောင်းဖြစ်သည်။

And second line, I want to end on that word “sun”.

ဒုတိယစာကြောင်းကို "နေ" ဆိုတဲ့ စကားလုံးနဲ့ အဆုံးသတ်ချင်ပါတယ်။

“Cool soda can, hot summer sun,”

"အအေးဆိုဒါဗူး၊ ပူပြင်းတဲ့နွေရာသီနေရောင်"

So we have the cool drink and the hot weather.

ဆိုတော့ အေးမြတဲ့အရက်နဲ့ ပူတဲ့ရာသီဥတုကို ရပြီပေါ့။

But our next rhyming word “can” - and what rhymes with “can”?

သို့သော် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့၏နောက်ထပ် ကာရန်စကားလုံး "နိုင်" - နှင့် "နိုင်" ဟူသော တေးသွားကား အဘယ်နည်း။

“tan” and “ran” and “man”

"tan" နဲ့ "ran" နဲ့ "man"

So let's try the word “plan”.

ဆိုတော့ "plan" ဆိုတဲ့ စကားလုံးကို စမ်းကြည့်ရအောင်။

“Hot summer sun,...

"ပူပြင်းတဲ့နွေရာသီနေရောင်၊...

no special plan,”

အထူးအစီအစဉ်မရှိဘူး"

“Cool soda can, hot summer sun, no special plan,”

"အေးဆိုဒါဗူး၊ ပူပြင်းတဲ့နွေရာသီနေရောင်၊ အထူးအစီစဉ်မရှိဘူး"

But…

ဒါပေမယ့်...

but we're having fun.

ဒါပေမယ့် ငါတို့ပျော်နေတာပဲ။

So do you remember the rhyme scheme?

ဒါဆို ကာရန်အစီအစဥ်ကို မှတ်မိသေးလား။

“can” and “plan” rhyme

"can" နှင့် "plan" rhyme

and “sun” and “fun” rhyme,

နှင့် "sun" နှင့် "fun" rhyme

so we can mark our rhyme scheme A B A B

ဖြစ်သောကြောင့် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့၏ rhyme scheme ABAB

“can,” “plan,”

"can" "plan" နှင့် "sun" "fun"

and “sun,” “fun.”

ဟု အမှတ်အသားပြုနိုင်ပါသည် ။

And you might notice that at the end of some of my lines, I have commas.

ကျွန်ုပ်၏စာကြောင်းအချို့၏အဆုံးတွင် ကျွန်ုပ်တွင် ကော်မာရှိသည်ကို သင်သတိပြုမိပေမည်။

And at the end of the last line, I have a period.

နောက်ဆုံးစာကြောင်းရဲ့အဆုံးမှာ ရာသီသွေးတစ်ခုရှိတယ်။

This is because when you write a poem, it's okay to be unstructured.

ဘာကြောင့်လဲဆိုတော့ ကဗျာတစ်ပုဒ်ရေးတဲ့အခါ စည်းစနစ်မကျလို့ပါပဲ။

It's okay to change the rules.

စည်းကမ်းတွေပြောင်းလို့ အဆင်ပြေတယ်။

So in my poem, I begin with capital letters and I end with commas and a period,

ဒါကြောင့် ငါ့ကဗျာမှာ စာလုံးကြီးတွေနဲ့ အစပြုပြီး ကော်မာနဲ့ ကာလအပိုင်းအခြားနဲ့ အဆုံးသတ်

but you don't have to.

ပေမယ့် မင်းလုပ်စရာမလိုပါဘူး။

You can break the rules of grammar and the rules of punctuation when you write a poem.

ကဗျာတစ်ပုဒ်ရေးတဲ့အခါ သဒ္ဒါစည်းမျဉ်းနဲ့ သတ်ပုံစည်းမျဉ်းတွေကို ချိုးဖောက်နိုင်တယ်။

So this is a how many stanzas poem?

ဒါဆို ဒီကဗျာက ဘယ်နှစ်ပိုဒ်လဲ။

It's a one stanza poem.

ကဗျာတစ်ပိုဒ်ပါ ။

And I think that all of you can definitely write a one stanza poem.

အားလုံးက ကဗျာတစ်ပိုဒ်ကို သေချာရေးနိုင်မယ်လို့ ထင်ပါတယ်။

So let's move on and try it.

ဒီတော့ ဆက်ပြီး စမ်းကြည့်ရအောင်။

Now, it's time for the homework and quiz.
