And I'm going to explain some euphemisms to you for the word 'pregnant'.

그리고 '임신'이라는 단어에 대한 몇 가지 완곡한 표현을 설명해 드리겠습니다.

So maybe if your friend or somebody is pregnant, people will ask and you'll say, "Oh, she's pregnant".

따라서 여러분의 친구나 누군가가 임신했다면 사람들이 물어볼 것이고 여러분은 "아, 그 사람 임신했어요"라고 말할 것입니다.

But the word 'pregnant' might be a little bit too direct.

하지만 '임신'이라는 단어는 다소 너무 직접적일 수 있습니다.

So we have some euphemisms that we can use to  say 'pregnant' without saying 'pregnant'.

그래서 우리는 '임신'이라고 말하지 않고 '임신'이라고 말할 때 사용할 수 있는 완곡한 표현을 가지고 있습니다.

So, let's look at the board.

그럼, 보드를 살펴보겠습니다.

So, right up front, "She's pregnant."

그래서 바로 앞에 "그녀는 임신했어요."

That is how you would say it. And everybody knows what it means.

그렇게 말할 것입니다. 그리고 모두가 그것이 무엇을 의미하는지 알고 있습니다.

"She's pregnant."

"임신했어요."

Down here are euphemisms.

아래에는 완곡한 표현이 있습니다.

So the most common one,

그래서 가장 흔한 말은

"She's expecting."

"그녀가 기대하고 있어요."입니다.

So she's expecting a baby in the future.

그래서 그녀는 미래에 아기를 낳을 것으로 예상하고 있습니다.

You can just say, "Oh, she's expecting," and everybody knows  what that means.

그냥 "아, 기대하고 있구나"라고 말하면 모두가 그게 무슨 뜻인지 압니다.

Very, very common.

아주 아주 흔해요.

Number two.

두 번째.

"She's preggers."

"그 사람은 임신한 상태야."

So preggers is like a shortened form of pregnant.

그래서 preggers는 임신의 단축형과 같습니다.

It's less serious. It's kind of funny.

덜 심각합니다. 좀 웃기네요.

"She's preggers."

"그 사람은 임신한 상태야."

"Eating for two."

"둘이서 먹어요."

"Eating for two," is she's got a lot of food on her plate.

"2인분을 먹는다"는 것은 접시에 음식이 많다는 뜻이다.

She's eating for her and she's eating for the baby.

그녀는 자신을 위해 먹고, 아기를 위해 먹고 있습니다.

"She's eating for two."

"그녀는 2인분을 먹습니다."

These two are idioms.

이 두 가지는 관용어입니다.

So "Knocked up."

그래서 "놀랐어."

"Knocked up," is a little bit negative.

"Knocked up"은 약간 부정적인 표현입니다.

In the past, it was used for somebody who's unmarried.

예전에는 미혼인 사람에게 쓰였습니다.

So, "She's knocked up."

그래서 "그녀는 쓰러졌습니다."

The baby wasn't expected. She's not married. It's a little bit of a surprise.

아기는 예상하지 못했습니다. 그녀는 결혼하지 않았습니다. 조금 놀랍습니다.

So that wasn't a good feeling with 'knocked up,' but now people say it all the time.

그래서 'knocked up'은 기분이 좋지 않았는데, 요즘 사람들은 그런 말을 자주 해요.

So, "She's knocked up." It's not negative anymore.

그래서 "그녀는 쓰러졌습니다." 더 이상 부정적이지 않습니다.

"She has a bun in the oven."

"오븐에 빵이 있어요."

This one's kind of funny. So you need to imagine that the woman's body is an oven.

이건 좀 웃기네요. 그러니 여자의 몸이 오븐이라고 상상해야 한다.

And inside there is a baby. The baby is the bread.

그리고 그 안에는 아기가 있습니다. 아기는 빵입니다.

It's a little bun, just a little bun. And it's going to grow.

작은 빵이에요, 그냥 작은 빵이에요. 그리고 그것은 성장할 것입니다.

And babies grow, bread grows in the oven. So 'bun' is the baby 'in the oven', which is the 'stomach'.

그리고 아기들은 자라고, 빵은 오븐에서 자랍니다. 그래서 'bun'은 '오븐 안에 있는' 아기, 즉 '위'입니다.
