पिछले कुछ महीनों के लिए मै कई सप्ताह तक प्रवास कर रही थी।

पेरे पास कपडे की एक ही बैंग थी।

In the past few months, I've been traveling for weeks at a time

मुझे एक दिन किसी खास समारोह में जाना था।

with only one suitcase of clothes.

मुझे उसके लिए कुछ नया और खास पहनना था।

One day, I was invited to an important event,

मैने मेरा बैग देखा मुझे कोई खास पहनावा नजर नही आया।

and I wanted to wear something special and new for it.

मेरा भाग्य था मैं मुझे तंत्रज्ञान की उस सभा मे शिरकत करनी थी।

So I looked through my suitcase and I couldn't find anything to wear.

मैने थ्री डी प्रिंटर चलाये थे।

I was lucky to be at the technology conference on that day,

मैने कंप्यूटर पर एक स्कर्ट डिज़ाइन किया।

मैने उसे प्रिंटरप्रर लोड किया।

and I had access to 3D printers.

एक ही रात में उसके टूकडे प्रिंट हुए।

So I quickly designed a skirt on my computer,

दुसरे दिन मैने उन्हे जमा किया।

and I loaded the file on the printer.

और मेरे हॉटेल रूम मे ही जोड दिये।

It just printed the pieces overnight.

वही स्कर्ट मैने आज पहना है।

The next morning, I just took all the pieces,

assembled them together in my hotel room,

and this is actually the skirt that I'm wearing right now.

यह कोई पहला वाक्या नही था।

(Applause)

मैने उन्हे बनाया था फैशन डिज़ाइन स्कूल के लिये।

मैने घर से ही थ्री डी प्रिंटर का इस्तेमाल फैशन कलेक्शन के लिये किया।

So it wasn't the first time that I printed clothes.

For my senior collection at fashion design school,

लेकीन समस्या यह थी मुझे थ्री डी प्रिंटींग की जानकारी नही थी।

I decided to try and 3D print an entire fashion collection from my home.

मेरे पास नौ महीने का समय था पाच फैशन के नमुने प्रिंट करने के लिए।

The problem was that I barely knew anything about 3D printing,

and I had only nine months to figure out how to print five fashionable looks.

मुझे घर से नवनिर्माण का काम करना प्रेरणादायी लगता है।

कुछ नया बनाने का प्रयास करना भाता था।

I always felt most creative when I worked from home.

मैं हमेशा नये तंत्र विकसित करना चाहती हू।

मुझे अनोखे फैशन के कपडे बनाने मे मजा आता है।

I loved experimenting with new materials,

and I always tried to develop new techniques

पुराने कारखाने ,अनोखे किस्म के दुकान मैं जाती हू।

to make the most unique textiles for my fashion projects.

जहाँ से मैं लाती हू कुछ खास चीजे पौडर तथा अनोखे कपडे।

I loved going to old factories and weird stores

जिसे मैं घर लाकर प्रयोग के काम मे लाती हू।

in search of leftovers of strange powders and weird materials,

आप शायद सोचोगे ।

मेरी रूम पार्टनर को ये सब अच्छा न लगे।

and then bring them home to experiment on.

(हंसी)

As you can probably imagine,

मैने तय किया मैं किसी बडी मशीन इस्तेमाल करू।

my roommates didn't like that at all.

(Laughter)

लेकीन वो मेरे घर मे नही समा सकती।

So I decided to move on to working with big machines,

मुझे पसंद है सटीक और दस्तूर से काम करना।

फैशन प्रौद्योगिकियों के सभी प्रकार के साथ।

ones that didn't fit in my living room.

बुनाई मशीनों की तरह और लेजर कटिंग और रेशम मुद्रण।

I love the exact and the custom work I can do

with all kinds of fashion technologies,

गर्मी के दिनो, एक इंटर्नशिप के लिए मैं यहाँ न्यूयॉर्क आयी थी।

like knitting machines and laser cutting and silk printing.

चाइनाटाउन में एक फैशन हाउस पर।

One summer break, I came here to New York for an internship

हमने दो अनोखे कपड़े पर काम किया ज्यो कि 3 डी मुद्रित किये थे।

at a fashion house in Chinatown.

वे जबरदस्त थे -- जैसे आप यहां देख सकते हैं।

We worked on two incredible dresses that were 3D printed.

लेकिन उनके साथ कुछ समस्या थी।

They were amazing -- like you can see here.

वे प्लास्टिक से बने थे और यही कारण है कि वे बहुत ही नाज़ुक थे

But I had a few issues with them.

हमारी अपेक्षाकृत ठीक नही थे।

They were made from hard plastics and that's why they were very breakable.

उनमे खरोंच मिला उनकी बाहों के नीचे प्लास्टिक से।

The models couldn't sit in them,

डी प्रिंटिंग से, डिजाइनरों को इतनी आजादी थी।

and they even got scratched from the plastics under their arms.

कपड़े बनाने के लिए जो वास्तव में उनकी अपेक्षाकृत हो।

With 3D printing, the designers had so much freedom

लेकिन फिर भी, वे बहुत ही निर्भर थे बड़ी और महंगी औद्योगिक प्रिंटर पर।

to make the dresses look exactly like they wanted,

but still, they were very dependent on big and expensive industrial printers

यह उनकी जगह से काफी दूर थे।

गत साल में मेरे एक दोस्त ने मुझे थ्री डी से प्रिंट किया एक नेकलेस दिया।

that were located in a lab far from their studio.

उसने उसे घर के प्रिंटर से प्रिंट किया था।

Later that year, a friend gave me a 3D printed necklace,

मुझे पता है ऐसे प्रिंटर काफी सस्ते होते है।

मेरे प्रशिक्षण दौरान इस्तेमाल किये हुये प्रिंटर से अधिक अच्छे है।

printed using a home printer.

I knew that these printers were much cheaper

मैने नेकलेस देखा।

and much more accessible than the ones we used at my internship.

सोचा" क्यू नही ऐसे नेकलेस घर मे ही प्रिंट करू।

क्या मैं मेरे कपडे घर से प्रिंट कर सकती हू"।

So I looked at the necklace,

and then I thought, "If I can print a necklace from home,

मुझे फिर बाज़ार मे भी जाने की जरुरत ही नही पडेगी।

why not print my clothes from home, too?"

और वो चुनने की जो कोई और बेचना चाहता हैं

I really liked the idea that I wouldn't have to go to the market

मैं खुद उनकी डिज़ाइन तैयार करूंगी और घर से ही प्रिंट करूंगी।

and pick fabrics that someone else chose to sell --

I could just design them and print them directly from home.

मैने छोटी सी जगह चून ली।

जहा मैं 3 डी प्रिंटींग सिखी थी।

I found a small makerspace,

उन्होने मुझे उस जगह पर पुरा नियंत्रण दिया था।

where I learned everything I know about 3D printing.

जिससे मुझे रातभर काम करने में भी सुविधा मिली।

Right away, they literally gave me the key to the lab,

मेरे सामने समस्या थी प्रिंटींग के लिये इस्तेमाल किये जानेवाले फिलामेंट की

so I could experiment into the night, every night.

क्या होता है फिलामेंट?

The main challenge was to find the right filament for printing clothes with.

यह एक प्रिंटर मे डाला जानेवाला पदार्थ होता है।

प्रिंटर लोडेड अप्लिकेशन PLA पर एक माह संशोधन करती रही।

So what is a filament?

Filament is the material you feed the printer with.

यह एक कठीन और खरोच वाला पदार्थ होता है

And I spent a month or so experimenting with PLA,

फिलामेंट का मुझे जब पता चला तो मेरी समस्या आसान हुई।

which is a hard and scratchy, breakable material.

जो एक नये किस्म का फिलामेंट था।

वह मजबूत तथा लचीला था।

The breakthrough came when I was introduced to Filaflex,

उससे ही मैं मेरा पहला पोशाक तैयार कर सकी।

which is a new kind of filament.

It's strong, yet very flexible.

वाह एक लाल रंग का जाकीट था उसपर लिखा गाय "स्वतंत्र"

And with it, I was able to print the first garment,

मतलब फ्रेंचमे "आझादी "

यह उसमे अंकित था।

the red jacket that had the word "Liberté" --

मैने ही उस शब्द का प्रयोग किया शक्तिमान तथा आज़ाद होने पर।

"freedom" in French --

मुझे आज़ादी मिली थी घर से ही काम करने की।

embedded into it.

I chose this word because I felt so empowered and free

ड्रेस प्रिंट करने की।

when I could just design a garment from my home

आप खुद भी यह जाकीट डाउनलोड कर सकोगे।

and then print it by myself.

आप भी और कुछ नया कर सकोगे।

And actually, you can easily download this jacket,

जैसे कि आप अपनी प्रियतमा का नाम उसपर अंकित कर सकते हो।

and easily change the word to something else.

(हसी)

For example, your name or your sweetheart's name.

हालाकी प्रिंटर की प्लेट छोटी थी।

इसलिये मुझे पोशाक को एक पहेली की तरह जोड़ना पडा।

(Laughter)

So the printer plates are small,

so I had to piece the garment together, just like a puzzle.

दुसरी एक समस्या दूर करना मैंने तय किया।

उसपर डिज़ाइन प्रिंट करना था।

ताकि मैं उसे नियमित पहन सकू।

And I wanted to solve another challenge.

मुझे एक ओपन सोर्स फाईल मिली।

I wanted to print textiles

जिसे मैं बहुत पसंद करती थी।

that I would use just like regular fabrics.

That's when I found an open-source file

जिससे मैं बहुती सुंदर कपड़ा बना सकने समर्थ हुई।

from an architect who designed a pattern that I love.

उसे मैं नियमित रूप से पहन सकू।

And with it, I was able to print a beautiful textile

वह एक लेस की तरह थी|

that I would use just like a regular fabric.

मैंने उस फाईल को देखा .मैने उसे अनेक बार बदल कर देखा।

And it actually even looks a little bit like lace.

उसकी अलग अलग प्रतियाँ बनाई|

So I took his file and I modified it, and changed it, played with it --

मुझे उसे प्रिंट करने १५०० ज्यादा घंटे काम करना था।.

many kinds of versions out of it.

जिससे कि मैं मेरा सारा संग्रह प्रिंट कर सकू।

And I needed to print another 1,500 more hours

मैने घर के लिये छह प्रिंटर खरीद लिये रातदिन काम शुरू किया।

to complete printing my collection.

फिर भी यह मंद गति से काम चल रहा था।

So I brought six printers to my home and just printed 24-7.

लेकीन याद करे, बीस साल पहले इंटरनेट बहुत कम गति से चलता था।

And this is actually a really slow process,

आज का थ्री डी प्रिंटर जल्द गति से काम करता है।

but let's remember the Internet was significantly slower 20 years ago,

बहुत ही कम समय में आप अपना टी शर्ट प्रिंट कर सकते है।

so 3D printing will also accelerate

कुछ ही घंटों मे या मिनटों मे।

and in no time you'll be able to print a T-Shirt in your home

देखो दोस्तो ,ऐसा दिखाई देता है।

in just a couple of hours, or even minutes.

like cotton or silk.

Imagine personalized clothes that fit exactly to your measurements.

संगीत एक जमाने एक वस्तू होती थी|

जिसे आप सीडी के दुकान से खरीद लाते।

Music was once a very physical thing.

लेकीन आज आप उसे उतारते है।

You would have to go to the record shop and buy CDs,

डीजीटल हुआ है संगीत।

मोबाईल मे उतार सकते है।

but now you can just download the music --

फैशन भी एक वस्तू है|

digital music --

directly to your phone.

मुझे आश्चर्य होता है , पुरा जग कैसे दिखाई देगा।

Fashion is also a very physical thing.

जब हम ऐसे डिजिटल पोशाक पहनेंगे। इस स्कर्ट की तरह|

And I wonder what our world will look like
