What is the most important thing in life?

ဘဝမှာ အရေးကြီးဆုံးက ဘာလဲ။

Some people might say happiness.

တစ်ချို့လူတွေက ပျော်ရွှင်မှုလို့ ဆိုနိုင်တယ်။

To be happy means that life is going well.

ပျော်ရွှင်ခြင်းဟူသည် ဘဝကို ကောင်းမွန်စေသည်။

Some people might say money is important.

လူအချို့က ငွေသည် အရေးကြီးသည်ဟု ဆိုနိုင်သည်။

Having money makes you comfortable.

ပိုက်ဆံရှိမှ အဆင်ပြေမယ်။

Maybe good health is an important thing.

ကျန်းမာရေးကောင်းဖို့က အရေးကြီးတဲ့အရာဖြစ်နိုင်ပါတယ်။

As without that, life will be unpleasant.

အဲဒါမရှိရင် ဘဝက အဆင်မပြေဖြစ်မယ်။

But besides happiness, 

ဒါပေမယ့် ပျော်ရွှင်မှု၊

money, and health...

ငွေကြေးနဲ့ ကျန်းမာရေးအပြင်…

one thing that many people feel is important

လူတော်တော်များများက

is to have a friend.

သူငယ်ချင်းတစ်ယောက်ရှိဖို့က အရေးကြီးတယ်လို့ ခံစားရပါတယ်။

Of course your family will most likely  be the most important part of your life,

သင့်မိသားစုသည် သင့်ဘဝ၏ အရေးကြီးဆုံးအစိတ်အပိုင်းဖြစ်နိုင်ဖွယ်ရှိသော်လည်း၊

However, many people feel the need to have friends in their day-to-day 

လူများစွာသည် ၎င်းတို့၏နေ့စဉ်

life.

ဘဝတွင် သူငယ်ချင်းများရှိရန် လိုအပ်သည်ဟု ခံစားမိကြသည်။

A friend can be close and  trusted, or they might be a person 

သူငယ်ချင်းတစ်ဦးသည် ရင်းနှီးပြီး ယုံကြည်နိုင်သည်၊ သို့မဟုတ် ၎င်းတို့သည်

you know generally in life.

ဘဝမှာ ယေဘူယျအားဖြင့် သင်သိသော လူ ဖြစ်နိုင်သည် ။

We normally call this type  of friend an acquaintance.

ပုံမှန်အားဖြင့်တော့ ဒီလိုသူငယ်ချင်းမျိုးကို အသိအကျွမ်းလို့ ခေါ်ပါတယ်။

So friendship can be more than one type of thing.

ဒါကြောင့် ခင်မင်ရင်းနှီးမှုဟာ အမျိုးအစားတစ်ခုထက်မက ရှိနိုင်ပါတယ်။

There are many ways of describing a friend.

သူငယ်ချင်းကို ဖော်ညွှန်းတဲ့နည်းတွေ အများကြီးရှိတယ်။

‘pal’

'သူငယ်ချင်း'

‘buddy’

'အဖော်'

‘mate’

'အဖော်'

‘chum’

'ချမ်'

‘brother’ ‘sister’

'ညီ' 'ညီမ'

‘comrade’.

'ရဲဘော်'။

A group of friends meeting together  might be described as... ‘the guys’

သူငယ်ချင်း တစ်စုကို 'ယောက်ျားတွေ'

‘the group’, ‘the gang’,

'အဖွဲ့'၊ 'ဂိုဏ်း'၊

‘the brothers’, ‘the sisters’.

'ညီအစ်ကို'၊

You might have a best friend,

သင့်တွင် အခင်ဆုံးသူငယ်ချင်း၊

A person you can share your deepest feelings with.

သင်နှင့် အနက်ရှိုင်းဆုံး ခံစားချက်များကို ဝေမျှနိုင်သော လူတစ်ယောက်ရှိနိုင်သည်။

A very close friend might be described as your ‘soul mate’.

အလွန်ရင်းနှီးသောသူငယ်ချင်းကို သင်၏ 'ဝိညာဉ်ဖော်' အဖြစ် ဖော်ပြနိုင်သည်။

Sometimes two friends might become closer.

တစ်ခါတလေမှာ သူငယ်ချင်းနှစ်ယောက် ပိုရင်းနှီးလာတတ်ပါတယ်။

They form a loving relationship.

သူတို့သည် ချစ်ခြင်းမေတ္တာကို ထူထောင်ကြသည်။

It is not unusual for friends to become  lovers, or even a married couple.

သူငယ်ချင်းများ ချစ်သူများ သို့မဟုတ် အိမ်ထောင်သည် စုံတွဲများပင် ဖြစ်လာသည်မှာ အထူးအဆန်းမဟုတ်ပေ။

Some people like to have lots of friends,

တစ်ချို့လူတွေက သူငယ်ချင်းအများကြီးရှိတာကို ကြိုက်ကြ

while others prefer to have just one or two.

ပြီး တချို့ကတော့ တစ်ယောက် သို့မဟုတ် နှစ်ယောက်ပဲရှိတာကို နှစ်သက်ကြပါတယ်။

‘Friendship’ can 

'မိတ်'၊ 'ဆွေမျိုး'၊ 'ညီအကို'၊ 'ညီအစ်မ'၊

be described as a ‘bond’, ‘kinship’, ‘brotherhood’, ‘sisterhood’, 

'ကြိုး'၊ 'တွယ်တာ'၊ 'တွယ်တာမှု'

‘tie’, ‘link’, ‘attachment’.

ဟူ၍ ဖော်ပြ နိုင်သည်

Two people share an affinity, 

။ လူနှစ်ဦးသည် ခင်မင်ရင်းနှီးမှု၊

a similarity,

တူညီမှုတစ်ခု၊

They have a common understanding.

တူညီသောနားလည်မှုတစ်ခုရှိကြသည်။

Do you have many friends?

မင်းမှာ သူငယ်ချင်းတွေအများကြီးရှိလား။

Who is your best friend?

ဘယ်သူကသင်၏အကောင်းဆုံးသူငယ်ချင်းလဲ?

There is an expression in English...

အင်္ဂလိပ်လိုတော့

‘A friend in need is a friend indeed’.

'A friend in need is a friend indeed' ဆိုတဲ့ အသုံးအနှုန်းရှိပါတယ်

This phrase is a good way of
