What is the most important thing in life?

인생에서 가장 중요한 것은 무엇입니까?

Some people might say happiness.

어떤 사람들은 행복하다고 말할 수도 있습니다.

To be happy means that life is going well.

행복하다는 것은 인생이 잘 흘러가고 있다는 뜻이다.

Some people might say money is important.

어떤 사람들은 돈이 중요하다고 말할 수도 있습니다.

Having money makes you comfortable.

돈이 있으면 마음이 편해집니다.

Maybe good health is an important thing.

어쩌면 건강이 중요한 것일 수도 있습니다.

As without that, life will be unpleasant.

그것이 없으면 인생은 불쾌할 것입니다.

But besides happiness, 

하지만 행복,

money, and health...

돈, 건강 외에도...

one thing that many people feel is important

많은 사람들이 중요하게 생각하는 것 중 하나

is to have a friend.

는 친구를 갖는 것입니다.

Of course your family will most likely  be the most important part of your life,

물론 가족은 인생에서 가장 중요한 부분일 것입니다.

However, many people feel the need to have friends in their day-to-day 

그러나 많은 사람들은 일상

life.

생활에서 친구가 필요하다고 느낍니다.

A friend can be close and  trusted, or they might be a person 

친구는 가깝고 신뢰할 수 있는 사람일 수도 있고,

you know generally in life.

인생에서 일반적으로 아는 사람일 수도 있습니다.

We normally call this type  of friend an acquaintance.

우리는 보통 이런 유형의 친구를 지인이라고 부릅니다.

So friendship can be more than one type of thing.

따라서 우정은 한 가지 유형 이상의 것일 수 있습니다.

There are many ways of describing a friend.

친구를 묘사하는 방법에는 여러 가지가 있습니다.

‘pal’

'친구'

‘buddy’

‘mate’

‘chum’

‘brother’ ‘sister’

'형제' '자매'

‘comrade’.

A group of friends meeting together  might be described as... ‘the guys’

‘the group’, ‘the gang’,

‘the brothers’, ‘the sisters’.

You might have a best friend,

A person you can share your deepest feelings with.

가장 친한 친구가 있을 수 있습니다 .

A very close friend might be described as your ‘soul mate’.

매우 가까운 친구는 당신의 '소울메이트'로 묘사될 수 있습니다.

Sometimes two friends might become closer.

때로는 두 친구가 더 가까워질 수도 있습니다.

They form a loving relationship.

그들은 사랑의 관계를 형성합니다.

It is not unusual for friends to become  lovers, or even a married couple.

친구가 연인이 되기도 하고, 심지어 부부가 되기도 합니다.

Some people like to have lots of friends,

어떤 사람들은 많은 친구를 갖고 싶어하는

while others prefer to have just one or two.

반면, 어떤 사람들은 한두 명만 갖는 것을 선호합니다.

be described as a ‘bond’, ‘kinship’, ‘brotherhood’, ‘sisterhood’,

Two people share an affinity,

a similarity,

They have a common understanding.
