Xu Xian had just received yet another invitation

جو جیان داوەتنامەیەکی بە دەست دەگات

to the opening ceremony of the new Jin Shan Temple.

بۆ بەشداری کردن لە ئاهەنگی کردنەوەی پەرستگەی جین شان.

His wife, Bai Su Zhen,

هاوسەرەکەی، بای سو ژین،

had warned him not to attend.

ئاگاداری دەکات کە بەشدار نەبێت.

Since she was in fact a benevolent white snake spirit in human form,

بەهۆی ئەوەی مارێکی سپی بوو شێوەی ژنێکی چاک وەردەگرێت،

هاوسەرگیریان لە تێکشکان بەهۆی دەست تێوەردانی پیاوێکی ئاینی تازە ڕزگاری بووە.

their marriage had already weathered attacks by meddling monks.

But devout Buddhist that he was,

چونکە جو بودییەکی ئیماندار بوو،

هەستی دەکات هیچ چارەی نییە و پێویستە لە ئاهەنگەکە بەشدار بێت.

Xu Xian felt obligated to make an appearance.

What they didn’t know

ئاگادار نەبوون کە ئەم

was that these invitations had come from none other than Fa Hai–

داوەتنامەیە لە لایەن فا های نێردرابوو

the misguided monk who had tried to separate the young lovers,

کە پیاوێکی ئاینی بوو و هەوڵی دەدە دوو خۆشەویستە گەنجەکە لێک بکات،

almost killing Xu Xian in the process.

کە لە ئەنجامدا کەمێکی مابوو جو جیان بمرێت.

The monk confronted Xu Xian,

پیاوە ئاینییەکە ڕووبەڕووی جو دەبێتەوە،

telling him that because he consorted with a demon,

ئاگاداری دەکاتەوە، چونکە لەگەڵ ئەهریمەنێک تێکەڵاو بویت،

he must remain at the monastery and cleanse his soul.

پێویستە لە پەرستگە بمێنێتەوە تا روحی پاک دەبێتەوە.

Xu Xian protested,

جو جیان ناڕازی بوو،

but Fa Hai would not let him escape.

بەڵام فا های ڕێگەی نەدا جو بچێتە دەرەوەی پەرستگە.

At home, Bai Su Zhen was uneasy.

لە ماڵەوە، بای سو ژین بێ ئارام بوو.

Her husband had departed so quickly

هاوسەرەکەی ئەوەندە بە پەلە ماڵی جێهیشت

that she hadn’t been able to tell him she was pregnant with his child.

فریا نەکەوت ئاگاداری بکەتەوە دووگیانە و منداڵیان دەبێت.

And now he had been gone so long she sensed something must be wrong.

و ماوەیک بەسەر نەهاتنەوەی جو تێپەڕدەبێت و هاوسەرەکەی هەست دەکات شتێک ڕویداوە.

She made her way to the temple,

بەرەو پەرستگە ملی ڕێگەی دەگرێت،

and upon encountering Fa Hai the monk threw his prayer mat,

کاتێک تووشی فا های دەبێت، بەڕماڵەکەی بەسەر بای ژین دادەت،

which erupted into fire and smoke.

کە دەبێتە ئاگر و دووکەڵ.

Weakened from her pregnancy,

بەهۆی بێهێزی دووگیانییەوە،

Bai Su Zhen desperately summoned a fleet of shrimp soldiers and crab generals

بای سو ژین بانگی سەربازە قڕژاڵ و ڕۆبیانەکانی دەکات

to subdue the monk, and waves to put out the blaze.

بۆ ئەوەی پیاوە ئاینییەکە ڕابگرن و ئاگرەکە بکوژێننەوە.

But the water also flooded the surrounding area,

بەڵام لافاو ئەو ناوجەیەش دەگرێتەوە،

drowning many innocent villagers.

چەندین گوندنشین دەخنکێنێت.

For the first time, Bai Su Zhen had harmed humans,

بۆ یەکم جار، بای سو ژین، مرۆڤی ئازار دا

and she fell out of the gods’ favor.

بۆیە ڕازی بوونی خواوەندەکان لە دەست دەدات.

With their blessing retracted,

بەهۆی نەمانی ڕازی بوونی خواوەندەکان،

Fa Hai attempted to trap her in his magical alms bowl.

فا های هەوڵ دەدات لە ناو قاپی جادووی پاراستنی پارە حەپسی بکات.

But just when all hope seemed lost,

بەڵام لەو کاتەی هەیچ هیوایەک نییە،

a bright glow came from within her belly,

شەبەقێکی ڕووناک لە سکی بای ژین دەردەچێت،

saving her from the mad monk’s magic.

لە جادووی پیاوە ئاینییە شێتەکە دەیپارێزێت.

هەردووکیان بەرەو ماڵەوە ڕادەکەن،

The couple fled home,

grateful to the mysterious power that had saved them,

سوپاسگوزار دەبن بۆ ئەو هێزە نەناسراوەی ڕزگاری کردن،

and soon after, Bai Su Zhen gave birth to their son, Xu Shi Lin.

دواتر، جو شی لین لە دایک دەبێت.

Yet despite this joyous occasion,

سەڕەڕایی ئەم خۆشییە،

Xu Xian was uneasy.

جو جیان هیچ سۆراغێکی نییە.

He was shaken by his wife’s accidental act of destruction,

بەهۆی ئیشە خۆپارستنەکانی هاوسەرەکەی جو جیان دەلەرێتەوە،

and he feared the misfortune it might bring upon their home.

دەترسێت کە شتێکی ناخۆش بە سەر خێزانەکەی دابێت.

Not a month later,

کەمتر لە مانگێک،

Fa Hai appeared at their doorstep.

فا های دێتە بەر دەرگەیان.

He offered Xu Xian an alms bowl to ensure good fortune for his newborn son.

فا های قاپێکی هەڵگرتنی پارە وەک دیاری منداڵەکەی بە جو جیان دەبەخشێت.

Still wary of the monk,

سەڕەڕای ئەوەی فا های دەناسێت،

but also remembering Bai Su Zhen’s destructive act,

بەڵام لە هەمان کاتدا، کارە تێکدەرانەکانی ژنەکەشی لە یادە،

Xu Xian accepted the gift.

جو جیان دیارییەکە وەردەگرێت.

But as soon as the bowl entered their home,

بەڵام هەر کە قاپەکە دەچێتە ناو ماڵ،

it flew to Bai Su Zhen’s head and trapped her inside.

دەفڕێت و لەسەر بای سو ژین دەنیشێتەوە و زیندانی دەکات.

Against the family’s wishes,

بەپێچەوانەی ویستی خێزانەکە،

Fa Hai buried the bowl beneath the Lei Feng Pagoda.

فا های قاپەکە لە ژێر لی فیگ پاگۆدە دەنێژێت.

And when Xu Xian begged him to release his wife,

کاتێک جو جیان تکای لێدەکات هاوسەرەکەی ئازاد بکات،

the monk sternly replied:

فا های بە توندی وەڵام دەداتەوە:

“She will be free when the iron tree blooms.”

هاوسەرەکەت کاتێک ئازاد دەبێت ئەگەر درەختێکی ئاسنین گەشە بکات.

Overcome with guilt,

جو جیان هەست بە تاوانباری دەکات،

Xu Xian ran away to a monastery,

جو جیان ڕوو لە خوێندگەی ئایانی دەکات،

leaving Shi Lin in the care of his aunt.

شی لین لای پووری جێدەهێڵێت.

But there was something neither of them knew.

بەڵام شتێک هەبوو کەسیان درکیان پێ نەکردبوو.

The boy was the reincarnation of Wen Qu Xing,

کوڕەکە زیندووکردنەوەی وین کو زینگ دەبێت،

the wisdom god,

خواوەندی ژیری،

sent to the family to reward Xu Xian’s devotion.

کە بە خێزانەکی بەخشرا بوو لە پای بەوەفایی جو جیان.

It was this power that had protected Bai Su Zhen at the temple,

ئەم هێزە بوو کە بای سو ژینی لە پەرستگەکە پاراست،

and as he grew, so did his wisdom.

کاتێک منداڵەکە گەورە دەبوو، ژیریشی گەشەی دەکرد.

At age 19, Shi Lin went to the capital city to take the nation-wide imperial exam

لە تەمەنی 19 ساڵێدا، منداڵەکە ڕوو دەکاتە پایتەخت بۆ بەشداری کردن لە تاقیکردنەوەی

and obtained the highest score in all the empire.

شاهانە و بەرزترین نمرە لە مێژوو بەدەست دەهێنێت.

The Emperor himself bestowed Shi Lin’s prize:

ئیمپراتۆر خۆی خەڵات بە شی لین دەبەخشێت:

an ornate hat decorated with jewel-encrusted flowers.

کڵاوێکی جوانی بە گوڵ دروستکراو لە گەوهەر.

بەڵام سەرەڕای ئەوەی وەک پاڵەوان دەگەڕێتەوە ماڵ،

But though he returned home in glory,

the fate of his parents still weighed heavy on his mind.

چارەنوسی دایک و باوکی وەک بارێکی قورس لە سەر مێشکی دەمێنێتەوە.

Coaxing his father from exile,

باوکی لە غوربەت دەگێرێتەوە،

Shi Lin took him to visit the Lei Feng Pagoda to pay respects to his mother.

شین لین باوکی دەباتە لی فینگ پاگۆدە بۆ سەردانی گۆڕی دایکی.

Kneeling before it,

لە کاتی کوڕنۆش بردن،

he placed his jeweled prize on the iron tree as an offering.

کڵاوە لە گەوهەر دروستکراوەکە وەک ڕێز لە سەر دارە ئاسنینەکە دادەنێت.

Suddenly, the ground opened and Bai Su Zhen stepped out.

لە ناکاو زەوی دەلەرێتەوە و بای سو ژین دێتە دەرەوە.

With her sins absolved by the tribute of a god,

دوای ئەوەی لە تاوانەکانی دەبوردرێت بە هۆی بەخشینی خواوەندێک،

and a blossom on the iron tree,

درەختێکی ئاسنین گەشە دەکات،

Shi Lin had freed his mother,

شین لین دایکی ئازاد دەکات،

and reunited his family–

خێزانەکەی بە یەک دەگەینێتەوە

both mortal and divine.
