HEAR vs LISTEN Difference, Meaning, Example Sentences | Learn English Vocabulary

In this video, I’m going to talk  about two similar and sometimes  

ఈ వీడియోలో, నేను 'వినండి' మరియు 'వినండి' అనే రెండు సారూప్యమైన మరియు కొన్నిసార్లు గందరగోళంగా ఉండే రెండు ఆంగ్ల పదాల గురించి మాట్లాడబోతున్నాను

confusing English words ‘hear’ and ‘listen’.

These two words are commonly confused in English,

ఈ రెండు పదాలు సాధారణంగా ఆంగ్లంలో గందరగోళంగా ఉంటాయి,

but after watching this video you'll have  a good understanding of the difference and when to use these words.

కానీ ఈ వీడియోను చూసిన తర్వాత మీరు తేడా మరియు ఈ పదాలను ఎప్పుడు ఉపయోగించాలో బాగా అర్థం చేసుకుంటారు.

Let’s get started.

ప్రారంభిద్దాం.

Let’s start with ‘hear’. It is an irregular verb. 

'వినండి'తో ప్రారంభిద్దాం. ఇది ఒక క్రమరహిత క్రియ.

The past tense is ‘heard’.

భూతకాలం 'విన్నది'.

When you hear something, noise is coming into your ears.

మీరు ఏదైనా విన్నప్పుడు, మీ చెవుల్లోకి శబ్దం వస్తుంది.

You are not focused on the noise.

మీరు శబ్దంపై దృష్టి పెట్టలేదు.

When you are walking down the street,

మీరు వీధిలో నడుస్తున్నప్పుడు,

you may hear people talking, you may hear birds,

మీరు ప్రజలు మాట్లాడుకోవడం వినవచ్చు, పక్షులు వినవచ్చు,

you may hear noise from the traffic,

ట్రాఫిక్ నుండి శబ్దం వినవచ్చు,

you hear all different noises.

మీకు వివిధ శబ్దాలు వినవచ్చు.

Let’s look at some example sentences.

కొన్ని ఉదాహరణ వాక్యాలను చూద్దాం.

The first sentence says,

మొదటి వాక్యం,

‘I hear someone knocking on my door.’

'ఎవరో నా తలుపు తట్టడం నాకు వినిపిస్తోంది'.

So the sound of the knocking or the noise of the knocking is coming into your ears,

కాబట్టి కొట్టిన శబ్దం లేదా కొట్టిన శబ్దం మీ చెవుల్లోకి వస్తోంది,

so you can hear it.

కాబట్టి మీరు దానిని వినవచ్చు.

The next sentence says,

తదుపరి వాక్యం,

‘He heard the thunder last night.’

'అతను నిన్న రాత్రి ఉరుము విన్నాడు' అని చెబుతుంది.

Thunder is very loud, so again you  will hear the noise of the thunder. 

ఉరుము చాలా బిగ్గరగా ఉంది, కాబట్టి మీరు మళ్ళీ ఉరుము యొక్క శబ్దం వింటారు.

Now, I will talk about ‘listen’.

ఇప్పుడు, నేను 'వినండి' గురించి మాట్లాడతాను.

It is a regular verb

ఇది సాధారణ క్రియ

and the past tense is ‘listened’.

మరియు భూతకాలం 'వినబడింది'.

It is usually followed by the preposition ‘to’.

దీనిని సాధారణంగా 'to' అనే ప్రిపోజిషన్ అనుసరిస్తుంది.

So you say ‘listen to’.

When you are listening, you are trying to hear something.

You are focused. And you really want to hear something clearly.

You pay attention to listen.

Let’s look at some example sentences.

కొన్ని ఉదాహరణ వాక్యాలను చూద్దాం.

The first sentence says,

మొదటి వాక్యం,

‘I always listen carefully to what my teacher says.’

'నేను ఎల్లప్పుడూ నా గురువు చెప్పేది శ్రద్ధగా వింటాను' అని చెబుతుంది.

In this example, ‘listen’ is just like focusing or paying attention to.

ఈ ఉదాహరణలో, 'వినండి' అనేది ఫోకస్ చేయడం లేదా దృష్టి పెట్టడం వంటిది.

The next sentence says,

తదుపరి వాక్యం,

‘She usually listens to music before bed.’

'ఆమె సాధారణంగా పడుకునే ముందు సంగీతం వింటుంది' అని చెబుతుంది.

This case also talks about focusing on the music with their ears.

ఈ సందర్భంలో వారి చెవులతో సంగీతంపై దృష్టి పెట్టడం గురించి కూడా మాట్లాడుతుంది.

Now, let's do a checkup.

ఇప్పుడు, ఒక చెకప్ చేద్దాం.

We need to use ‘listen’ and ‘hear’

ఈ వాక్యంలోని ఖాళీలను పూరించడానికి

to  fill in the blanks in this sentence.

మనం 'వినండి' మరియు 'వినండి'ని ఉపయోగించాలి

Take a moment to think about where to  use ‘listen’ and where to use ‘hear’. 

. 'వినండి' ఎక్కడ ఉపయోగించాలి మరియు 'వినండి' ఎక్కడ ఉపయోగించాలి అనే దాని గురించి ఒక్క క్షణం ఆలోచించండి.

The sentence says,

వాక్యం,

‘I am _blank_ to their conversation.’

'నేను వారి సంభాషణకు _ ఖాళీగా ఉన్నాను'.

Which one means to pay  attention to or to focus on? 

దేనిపై దృష్టి పెట్టడం లేదా దృష్టి పెట్టడం అంటే ఏమిటి?

That's ‘listen’.

అది 'వినండి'.

So we need to put ‘listen’ in the first blank.

కాబట్టి మనం మొదటి ఖాళీలో 'వినండి' అని పెట్టాలి.

‘I am _blank_ to their conversation.’

వారి సంభాషణలో నేను _ ఖాళీగా ఉన్నాను.'

You'll notice it says ‘I am’

ఇది 'నేను ఉన్నాను' అని చెప్పడం మీరు గమనించవచ్చు

so we need to use the present continuous tense ‘listening’.

కాబట్టి మనం ప్రస్తుత నిరంతర కాలం 'వినడం'ని ఉపయోగించాలి.

‘I am listening to their conversation.’

'నేను వారి సంభాషణను వింటున్నాను.'

The second part of this sentence says,

ఈ వాక్యం యొక్క రెండవ భాగం,

‘but I  can't _blank_ exactly what they are saying.’

'అయితే వారు చెప్పేది నేను _బ్లాంక్_ చేయలేను' అని చెబుతుంది.

Maybe it's noisy outside so it's hard to hear. 

బహుశా బయట శబ్దం కాబట్టి వినడానికి కష్టంగా ఉంటుంది.

Remember, ‘hear’ means to take in the noise with your ears, 

గుర్తుంచుకోండి, 'వినడం' అంటే మీ చెవులతో శబ్దాన్ని తీసుకోవడం,

so the correct answer for the second part is

కాబట్టి రెండవ భాగానికి సరైన సమాధానం

‘I can't hear exactly what they are saying.’

'వారు చెప్పేది నేను సరిగ్గా వినలేను'.

Now you know the difference  between ‘hear’ and ‘listen’.
