Today, we're going to be talking about informal contractions including the word ‘to’.

ယနေ့တွင် 'to' ဟူသော စကားလုံး အပါအဝင် အလွတ်သဘော ကျုံ့ခြင်းများကို ဆွေးနွေးပါမည်။

Now, it's important to remember that these contractions are just for speaking not for writing.

ယခု မှတ်သားထားရန် အရေးကြီးသည်မှာ ဤစာတိုများသည် စာရေးရန်အတွက်သာ ပြောရန်သာဖြစ်သည်။

So if you memorize them, and learn how to say them, well you'll be sounding just like a native speaker.

Okay, here I have my list of contractions including ‘to’.

ကောင်းပြီ၊ ဤနေရာတွင် 'to' အပါအဝင် ကျွန်ုပ်၏ ကျုံ့မှုစာရင်း ရှိပါသည်။

And these contractions are going to use the ‘schwa’ ‘uh’ sound.

And I have some examples for you that I need you to repeat after me each time.

‘going to’ = ‘gonna’ ‘I’m not gonna tell you.’

Next. ‘have to’ = ‘hafta’

‘supposed to’ = ‘supposta’ ‘I’m supposta start a new job.’

'supposed to' = 'supposta' 'ငါ အလုပ်သစ်စလုပ်မယ်။'

‘I’m supposta start a new job.’

'ကျွန်တော် အလုပ်သစ်စလုပ်တော့မယ်။'

‘ought to’ = ‘oughta’ ‘You oughta phone your sister.’

'ought to' = 'oughta' 'ညီမကို ဖုန်းခေါ်သင့်တယ်။'

‘You oughta phone your sister.’

'ညီမကို ဖုန်းခေါ်သင့်တယ်'

‘need to’ = ‘needa’ You needa buy apples at the store.’

'need to' = 'needa' စတိုးဆိုင်တွင် ပန်းသီးဝယ်ရန် လိုအပ်သည်။

You needa buy apples at the store.’

စတိုးဆိုင်မှာ ပန်းသီးဝယ်လိုတယ်'

Don't forget, you only want to use these in conversation.

အဲဒါတွေကို စကားဝိုင်းမှာသာ သုံးချင်တာ မမေ့ပါနဲ့။

These aren't for writing.
