British English Pronunciation Practice - "Inconsistent" Poem & Explanation

Today we're doing something  a little bit different.

امروز ما در حال انجام یک کار کمی متفاوت هستیم.

We are delving into the world of poetry.

در حال غرق شدن در دنیای شعر هستیم.

Now I have a series of  pronunciation poems coming your way.

حالا من یک سری شعر تلفظ دارم که در راه شماست.

And today I'm going to be breaking  down the poem “Inconsistent”.

و امروز قرار است شعر «ناسازگار» را بشکنم.

So, let's hear the poem. First of all

پس بیایید شعر را بشنویم. اول از همه

English pronunciation is quite tricky, it’s true,

، تلفظ انگلیسی بسیار مشکل است، درست است،

As blue, and blew too, they rhyme with two.

به عنوان آبی، و همچنین blow، آنها با دو قافیه هستند.

There’s little consistency between fear and bear,

سازگاری کمی بین ترس و خرس وجود دارد،

The latter rhyming with there, their, and they’re.

And that’s not the worst of it, consider the ‘o’,

Lacks consistency between dot, do and don’t.

Tough stuff our words, they are not well designed

Fork rhymes with walk, and bird with word,

Foot rhymes with put, not boot. I heard…

خوب، پس بیایید این شعر را بشکنیم.

Let's start!

بیا شروع کنیم!

English pronunciation is quite tricky, it's true...

تلفظ انگلیسی بسیار مشکل است، درست است...

And this is the first of our /u:/, sounds.

و این اولین صدای /u:/ ماست.

It's true. As blue and blew  too. They rhyme with two.

درسته. به عنوان آبی و منفجر بیش از حد. با دو قافیه می کنند.

So here we have a repeat of this long /u:/ vowel  in ‘true’, ‘blue’, ‘blew’, ‘too’ and ‘two’.

بنابراین در اینجا ما تکرار این صدادار طولانی /u:/ در «true»، «blue»، «blow»، «too» و «two» داریم.

Now the word ‘rhyme’, ‘rhyme’  that has an unusual spelling.

در حال حاضر کلمه "قافیه"، "قافیه" که املای غیر معمول دارد.

But the pronunciation is /raım/, /raım/, /raım/.

اما تلفظ /raım/، /raım/، /raım/ است.

Okay?

باشه؟

English pronunciation is quite tricky, it's true

تلفظ انگلیسی کاملاً مشکل است، درست است

As blue and blew too, they rhyme with two.

همانطور که blue و blow نیز با دو قافیه هستند.

There's little consistency (in  pronunciation) between fear and bear.

سازگاری کمی (در تلفظ) بین ترس و خرس وجود دارد.

Now, hear that difference.

حالا این تفاوت را بشنوید

Fear /fıə/.

ترس /fıə/.

Bear /beə/.

خرس /beə/.

Fear, /ıə/, like your ear. 

ترس، /ıə/، مانند گوش شما.

Bear /beə/, like chair /ʧeə/,  hair /heə/, where /weə/.

خرس /beə/، مانند صندلی /ʧeə/، مو /heə/، جایی که /weə/.

Like the air we breathe.

مثل هوایی که تنفس می کنیم.

So, we have ‘ear’ and ‘air’,

بنابراین، «گوش» و «هوا»،

‘ear’ and ‘air’.

«گوش» و «هوا» داریم .

Fear /fıə/. Bear /beə/.

ترس /fıə/. خرس /beə/.

Okay, so they are different even  though that spelling is the same.

خوب، پس با اینکه املای آن یکسان است، متفاوت هستند.

The latter, rhyming with there, their and they’re.

دومی، قافیه با وجود، آنها و آنها هستند.

Okay, so the word ‘latter’ means  the last in the previous list.

بسیار خوب، بنابراین کلمه "آخر" به معنای آخرین مورد در لیست قبلی است.

So, the last in the previous list was a list of  two ‘fear’ and ‘bear’ and the latter was ‘bear’.

بنابراین، آخرین لیست قبلی لیستی از دو «ترس» و «خرس» و دومی «خرس» بود.

And it's saying the last one ‘bear’ rhymes  with ‘there’, ‘their’ and ‘they’re’.

و گفتن این است که آخرین "خرس" با "آنجا"، "آنها" و "آنها هستند" قافیه می شود.

Three different words.

سه کلمه متفاوت

And they all have the same sound.

و همه آنها صدای یکسانی دارند.

Exactly the same sound.

دقیقا همون صدا

The last one as well.

آخری هم همینطور

Pay close attention to contraction pronunciations  because many students don't like to pronounce  

به تلفظ های انقباضی دقت کنید زیرا بسیاری از دانش آموزان دوست ندارند

contractions in a different way to the  single words, many students would see  

انقباض ها را به روشی متفاوت با کلمات واحد تلفظ کنند، بسیاری از دانش آموزان

that word and say ‘they’re’ but try to pronounce  the contraction ‘they’re /ðeə/’, ‘they’re /ðeə/’.

آن کلمه را می بینند و می گویند "they're" اما سعی می کنند انقباض را "they're /ðeə" تلفظ کنند. /'، 'آنها /ðeə/' هستند.

Let's move on.

بیایید ادامه دهیم.

And that's not the worst of it. Consider the ‘o’,

و این بدترین آن نیست. "o" را در نظر بگیرید،

Lacks consistency between dot, do and don't.

عدم هماهنگی بین نقطه، انجام و نکنید.

So, look at these three words ‘dot’, ‘do’,‘don't’.

بنابراین، به این سه کلمه «نقطه»، «انجام»، «نکند» نگاه کنید.

How are we pronouncing that ‘o’? In the first we have /ɒ/, in the second we  

چگونه "o" را تلفظ می کنیم؟ در اولی /ɒ/، در دومی

have /uː/, in the third we have /əʊ/. /ɒ/, /uː/, /əʊ/

/uː/، در سومی /əʊ/ داریم. /ɒ/، /uː/، /əʊ/

/dɒ/, /duː/, /dəʊ/ dot /dɒt/, do /duː/, don't /dəʊnt/.

/dɒ/، /duː/، /dəʊ/ نقطه /dɒt/، /duː/ را انجام دهید، /dəʊnt/ نکنید.

So, there is a lack in pronunciation  consistency then we go on to say

بنابراین، عدم ثبات تلفظ وجود دارد، سپس می‌گوییم

What has not got an ‘o’ /ɒ/...

What has not 'o' /ɒ/...

but we still pronounce it like it has ‘o’ /ɒ/,

اما همچنان آن را طوری تلفظ می‌کنیم که 'o' /ɒ/،

/wɒ/, /wɒt/.

/wɒ/، /wɒt دارد. /.

But it has not got an ‘o’ in the way it's written.

اما به شکلی که نوشته شده است "o" ندارد.

... nor has because.

... ندارد زیرا.

Because /bɪˊkɒz/.

زیرا /bɪˊkɒz/.

Now here that -ause /ɒz/, /ɒ/, /ɒ/

حالا اینجاست که -ause /ɒz/، /ɒ/، /ɒ/

-cause /kɒz/, because /bɪˊkɒz/

-cause /kɒz/، زیرا /bɪˊkɒz/

So, ‘what’ and ‘because’  both have this ‘o’ /ɒ/ sound.

بنابراین، 'what' و 'because' هر دو این صدای 'o' /ɒ/ را دارند.

What has not got an o, nor has because. A cause of confusion is has an was.

چیزی که نه o دارد و نه به دلیل. یکی از دلایل سردرگمی این است که بود.

Did you hear the difference between  how I pronounce ‘cause’ /kɔːz/ when  

آیا تفاوت بین تلفظ 'cause' /kɔːz/ را وقتی که

it's on its own as opposed to when  it's in the word ‘because’ /bɪˊkɒz/.

به تنهایی است در مقابل زمانی که در کلمه 'because' /bɪˊkɒz/ وجود دارد، شنیدید؟

Cause /kɔːz/, because /bɪˊkɒz/.

علت /kɔːz/، زیرا /bɪˊkɒz/.

Cause /kɔːz/, because /bɪˊkɒz/.

علت /kɔːz/، زیرا /bɪˊkɒz/.

In ‘because’ /bɪˊkɒz/ it’s short /ɒ/, but  in cause /kɔːz/ we have this long /ɔː/. 

در «زیرا» /bɪˊkɒz/ کوتاه است /ɒ/، اما در علت /kɔːz/ این /ɔː/ طولانی را داریم.

/ɒ/ - /ɔː/

/ɒ/ - /ɔː/

/ɒ/ - /ɔː/ because /bɪˊkɒz/ – cause /kɔːz/

/ɒ/ - /ɔː/ زیرا /bɪˊkɒz/ – علت /kɔːz/

A cause of confusion is has and was.

علت سردرگمی است و بوده است.

They both have an ‘-as’, but ‘has’  is /..əz/ and ‘was’ is /..ɒz/

هر دو یک "-as" دارند، اما "has" /..əz/ و "was" است /..ɒz/

/..əz/ - /..ɒz/

/..əz/ - /..ɒz/

So confusing.

خیلی گیج کننده است.

Next.

بعد.

Though, thought and through...

گرچه، فکر و از طریق...

Though /ðəʊ/, thought /θɔ:t / and through /θru:/

هر چند /ðəʊ/، فکر /θɔ:t / و از طریق /θru:/

they boggle the mind.

ذهن را درگیر می کنند.

They look so similar but they're so different.

آنها خیلی شبیه به هم هستند اما بسیار متفاوت هستند.

Tough stuff...

چیزهای سخت...

They both rhyme, tough – stuff.

هر دو قافیه هستند، سخت - چیزهای.

Tough stuff our words, they are not well designed.

کلمات ما سخت است، آنها به خوبی طراحی نشده اند.

Fork rhymes with walk, bird with word Foot /fʊt/ rhymes with put /pʊt/, not boot /bu:t/.

قافیه چنگال با walk، پرنده با کلمه Foot /fʊt/ قافیه با put /pʊt/، نه boot /bu:t/.

They are different.

Foot /fʊt/ با put /pʊt/ قافیه می شود، نه boot /bu:t/.

I heard... 'Cause ‘heard’ /hɜ:d/  rhymes with ‘word’ /wɜ:d/.

من شنیدم... «شنیده شده» /hɜ:d/ با «کلمه» قافیه می شود /wɜ:d/.

I heard learning English is hard, so here's what  

شنیده ام یادگیری زبان انگلیسی سخت است، بنابراین در اینجا باید چه

to do. Prioritize pronunciation  and you will fly through /θru:/.

کار کرد. تلفظ را در اولویت قرار دهید و از طریق /θru:/ پرواز خواهید کرد.
