Today, we're going to be looking at two words that will really help your English pronunciation

ယနေ့တွင် သင်၏ အင်္ဂလိပ်အသံထွက် နှင့် နားထောင်မှုစွမ်းရည်ကို အမှန်တကယ် အထောက်အကူဖြစ်စေမည့် စကားလုံးနှစ်လုံးကို လေ့လာကြည့်ပါမည်

and listening skills.

They look the same and they almost sound the same.

သူတို့ကြည့်ရတာ အတူတူဖြစ်ပြီး အသံတူသလောက်ပါပဲ။

But what's the difference?

I'm going to say the sentence first quickly.

Here's the sentence.

What words go in these two gaps?

Well, the answer is

They look exactly the same.

သူတို့ကြည့်ရတာ အတူတူပဲ။

I know, I know.

ငါသိတယ်ငါသိတယ်။

But...

ဒါပေမယ့်...

the pronunciation here is really important.

ဒီမှာ အသံထွက်က အရမ်းအရေးကြီးတယ်။

It changes the meaning and  gives you two different words.

၎င်းသည် အဓိပ္ပါယ်ကိုပြောင်းလဲစေပြီး မတူညီသောစကားလုံးနှစ်လုံးကိုပေးသည်။

So let's find out why.

ဒါဆို ဘာကြောင့်လဲဆိုတာ လေ့လာကြည့်ရအောင်။

Now let's have a look at our two words.

ကဲ ကျွန်တော်တို့ရဲ့ စကားလုံးနှစ်လုံးကို ကြည့်ကြရအောင်။

We have ‘produce’ and ‘produce’.

ကျွန်ုပ်တို့တွင် 'ထုတ်ကုန်' နှင့် 'ထုတ်ကုန်' ရှိသည်။

They're spelled the same, 

စာလုံးပေါင်း တူ

but the meaning and the pronunciation is different.

သော်လည်း အဓိပ္ပါယ်နှင့် အသံထွက် မတူပါ။

It's a heteronym.

၎င်းသည် ဝေါဟာရအသုံးအနှုန်းတစ်ခုဖြစ်သည်။

What is a heteronym?

မျိုးကွဲအခေါ်အဝေါ်ဆိုတာ ဘာလဲ။

It's where the two words are spelled the same way,

စကားလုံးနှစ်လုံးကို စာလုံးပေါင်းတူပေမယ့်

but the meaning and the  pronunciation is different.

အဓိပ္ပါယ်နဲ့ အသံထွက်က မတူပါဘူး။

Let's start with the meaning and pronunciation of our first word.

ကျွန်ုပ်တို့၏ ပထမဆုံးစကားလုံး၏ အဓိပ္ပါယ်နှင့် အသံထွက်ဖြင့် စတင်ကြပါစို့။

‘Produce’.

'ဟင်းသီးဟင်းရွက်'။

‘Produce’ is a verb.

'ထုတ်လုပ်' သည် ကြိယာတစ်ခုဖြစ်သည်။

It means to make something.

တစ်ခုခုလုပ်ရန် ဆိုလိုသည်။

And I have two sentences to show you.

ပြီးတော့ မင်းကိုပြဖို့ ငါ့မှာ စာကြောင်းနှစ်ကြောင်းရှိတယ်။

‘France produces a lot of wine.’

'ပြင်သစ်က ဝိုင်တွေ အများကြီး ထုတ်လုပ်တယ်။

And ‘Cities produce a lot of trash.’

ပြီးတော့ 'မြို့တွေက အမှိုက်တွေ အများကြီးထွက်လာတယ်။'

They make a lot of rubbish.

အမှိုက်တွေ အများကြီးလုပ်ကြတယ်။

Now Let's practice pronunciation.

ကဲ အသံထွက်လေ့ကျင့်ကြရအောင်။

Okay, time for word number 2.

Ok၊ စကားလုံးနံပါတ် 2 အတွက် အချိန်ဖြစ်သည်။

‘Produce’.

'Produce'။

‘Produce’ is a noun.

'ထုတ်လုပ်' သည် နာမ်ဖြစ်သည်။

It means fruits and vegetables.

အသီးအနှံနှင့် ဟင်းသီးဟင်းရွက်များကို ဆိုလိုသည်။

So you might have the produce section at a market.

ဒါကြောင့် စျေးကွက်မှာ ထုတ်ကုန်အပိုင်းတွေ ရှိနိုင်တယ်။

Again, I have two sentences to show you this.

နောက်တဖန်၊ ငါမင်းကို ဒါကိုပြဖို့ စာကြောင်းနှစ်ကြောင်းရှိတယ်။

‘I work at the produce section in the market.’

'ကျွန်တော်က ဈေးကွက်ထဲမှာ ရှိတဲ့ ကုန်ပစ္စည်း ကဏ္ဍမှာ အလုပ်လုပ်တယ်။

‘I work at the produce section in the market.’

'ကျွန်တော်က ဈေးကွက်ထဲမှာ ရှိတဲ့ ကုန်ပစ္စည်း ကဏ္ဍမှာ အလုပ်လုပ်တယ်။

And our second sentence,

ပြီးတော့ ကျွန်တော်တို့ရဲ့ ဒုတိယစာကြောင်းကတော့

‘They have fresh produce everyday.’

'သူတို့မှာ နေ့တိုင်း လတ်ဆတ်တဲ့ အသီးအနှံတွေရှိတယ်' တဲ့။

‘They have fresh produce everyday.’

'နေ့တိုင်း လတ်ဆတ်တဲ့ အသီးအနှံတွေ ရှိတယ်။'
