They look the same and they almost sound the same.

They look exactly the same.

the pronunciation here is really important.

It changes the meaning and  gives you two different words.

Now let's have a look at our two words.

We have ‘produce’ and ‘produce’.

আমাদের 'উৎপাদন' এবং 'উৎপাদন' আছে।

They're spelled the same, 

তাদের বানান একই,

but the meaning and the pronunciation is different.

কিন্তু অর্থ এবং উচ্চারণ ভিন্ন।

It's a heteronym.

এটি একটি ভিন্নার্থক শব্দ।

What is a heteronym?

একটি বিপরীতার্থক শব্দ কি?

It's where the two words are spelled the same way,

এখানে দুটি শব্দ একইভাবে বানান করা হয়,

but the meaning and the  pronunciation is different.

কিন্তু অর্থ এবং উচ্চারণ ভিন্ন।

Let's start with the meaning and pronunciation of our first word.

আমাদের প্রথম শব্দের অর্থ এবং উচ্চারণ দিয়ে শুরু করা যাক।

‘Produce’.

'উৎপাদন করা'।

‘Produce’ is a verb.

'উৎপাদন' একটি ক্রিয়াপদ।

It means to make something.

মানে কিছু তৈরি করা।

And I have two sentences to show you.

এবং আমি আপনাকে দেখানোর জন্য দুটি বাক্য আছে.

‘France produces a lot of wine.’

'ফ্রান্স প্রচুর ওয়াইন উৎপাদন করে।'

And ‘Cities produce a lot of trash.’

এবং 'শহরগুলো প্রচুর আবর্জনা উৎপন্ন করে।'

They make a lot of rubbish.

তারা প্রচুর আবর্জনা তৈরি করে।

Now Let's practice pronunciation.

Okay, time for word number 2.

It means fruits and vegetables.

So you might have the produce section at a market.

তাই আপনি একটি বাজারে উত্পাদন বিভাগ থাকতে পারে.

Again, I have two sentences to show you this.

‘I work at the produce section in the market.’
