LOOK SEE WATCH Learn English Vocabulary with ESTHER

We will be going over the three verbs  that I mentioned. Look, see, and watch.  

ကျွန်တော်ပြောခဲ့တဲ့ ကြိယာသုံးခုကို ကျော်သွားပါမယ်။ ကြည့်၊ ကြည့်၊ ကြည့်။

And as I mentioned, these verbs are a  little bit confusing because they are  

ပြီးတော့ ကျွန်တော်ပြောခဲ့သလိုပဲ၊ ဒီကြိယာတွေက ဆင်တူတာကြောင့် ဒီကြိယာတွေက နည်းနည်းရှုပ်ပွနေပြီး

similar and that's why we thought we  want to teach you this today.

အဲဒါက ဒီနေ့ မင်းကို ဒါကိုသင်ပေးချင်တာလို့ ထင်ခဲ့တာ။

So I hope you follow along and I hope you learn a lot.

ဒါကြောင့် မင်းနောက်ကို လိုက်မယ်လို့ မျှော်လင့်ပြီး မင်းအများကြီး သင်ယူနိုင်မယ်လို့ မျှော်လင့်ပါတယ်။

Here is the lesson plan for today.

ဒါကတော့ ဒီနေ့အတွက် သင်ခန်းစာအစီအစဉ်ပါ။

First, we will start with the lesson.

ပထမဆုံး သင်ခန်းစာနဲ့ စပါမယ်။

I will go over when and how to use these verbs.

ဒီကြိယာတွေကို ဘယ်အချိန်နဲ့ ဘယ်လိုသုံးရမလဲဆိုတာ ရှင်းသွားမယ်။

And then we'll do some practice.

ပြီးရင် အလေ့အကျင့်တစ်ခုလုပ်မယ်။

After that, we'll try a test. Don't worry, it won't be too hard.

ပြီးရင် စမ်းကြည့်မယ်။ စိတ်မပူပါနဲ့၊ အရမ်းခက်ခဲမှာမဟုတ်ပါဘူး။

And finally, we'll wrap up with some homework that I hope that you will try.

နောက်ဆုံးအနေနဲ့ မင်းကြိုးစားမယ်လို့ ငါမျှော်လင့်ထားတဲ့ အိမ်စာတချို့ကို ပြီးအောင်လုပ်မယ်။

OK. Let's go ahead and begin.

အိုကေတယ်နော်။ ရှေ့ဆက်ပြီး စလိုက်ကြရအောင်။

Let's start with the verb, look.

ကြိယာဖြင့် စကြည့်ရအောင်။

So when we look at something, we direct our eyes toward it.

ဒါကြောင့် တစ်ခုခုကို ကြည့်တဲ့အခါ၊ ငါတို့က အဲဒါကို ဦးတည်နေတယ်။

We move our eyes toward something, and we pay attention to it.

ကျွန်ုပ်တို့၏မျက်လုံးများသည် တစ်စုံတစ်ခုဆီသို့ ရွေ့လျားကာ ၎င်းကိုအာရုံစိုက်သည်။

OK, so for example, look at this or look at this.

ဟုတ်ပြီ၊ ဥပမာ၊ ဒါကိုကြည့်ပါ သို့မဟုတ် ဒီကိုကြည့်ပါ။

OK. How about. Look at this. I want you to  look at it I want you to direct your eyes,

အိုကေတယ်နော်။ ဘယ်လိုလဲ။ ဒါကိုကြည့်။ မင်းကိုကြည့်စေချင်တယ် မင်းရဲ့မျက်လုံးတွေကို ညွှန်ပြချင်တယ်၊

move your eyes toward it, and pay attention to it.

မင်းရဲ့မျက်လုံးတွေကို အဲဒီဘက်ကိုရွှေ့ပြီး အာရုံစိုက်စေချင်တယ်။

OK. All right. Well, I'm sorry. My cat is very noisy today.

အိုကေတယ်နော်။ ကောင်းပါပြီ။ အင်း စိတ်မကောင်းပါဘူး။ ဒီနေ့ ငါ့ကြောင်က အရမ်းဆူနေတယ်။

OK, let's do a few more. OK. Look at this marker.

အိုကေ၊ နောက်ထပ် အနည်းငယ် လုပ်ကြည့်ရအောင်။ အိုကေတယ်နော်။ ဒီအမှတ်အသားကိုကြည့်ပါ။

Right again. Pay attention. Concentrate on it. Focus. OK.

မှန်ပြန်တယ်။ ဂရုစိုက်သည်။ အဲဒါကို အာရုံစိုက်ပါ။ အာရုံစူးစိုက်မှု။ အိုကေတယ်နော်။

So that's what we do when we look at something

အဲဒီတော့ တစ်ခုခုကိုကြည့်တဲ့အခါ ဒါပဲလုပ်တယ်

All right. So now let's look at some common uses and examples of 'look'.

။ ဒါကြောင့် အခု 'look' ရဲ့ အသုံးများတဲ့ အသုံးများနဲ့ ဥပမာအချို့ကို ကြည့်ကြရအောင်။

OK. So first, look at this example sentence.

အိုကေတယ်နော်။ ဒါကြောင့် အရင်ဆုံး ဒီဥပမာဝါကျကို ကြည့်ပါ။

I will read it for you. Look at that rainbow.

မင်းအတွက် ငါဖတ်မယ်။ ထိုသက်တံကိုကြည့်ပါ။

I'm sorry. Oh, my gosh. OK. Look at that rainbow.

တောင်းပန်ပါတယ်။ အိုး ဘုရား။ အိုကေတယ်နော်။ ထိုသက်တံကိုကြည့်ပါ။

OK. I am asking you to direct your eyes toward that rainbow.

အိုကေတယ်နော်။ မင်းရဲ့မျက်လုံးတွေကို အဲဒီသက်တံ့ဆီ ဦးတည်ခိုင်းနေတာ။

And I want you to pay attention to it.

ပြီးတော့ အဲဒါကို အာရုံစိုက်စေချင်တယ်။

Now, you'll notice that I used the verb look with the preposition act.

ယခု၊ ကျွန်ုပ်သည် ကြိယာသွင်ပြင်ကို ဝိဘတ်ဖြင့် အသုံးပြုထားသည်ကို သတိပြုမိပါလိမ့်မည်။

OK. We can use several different prepositions with look,

အိုကေတယ်နော်။ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် မတူညီသော ဝိဘတ်များစွာကို အသွင်အပြင်ဖြင့် သုံးနိုင်သော်လည်း

but we usually use look at

အများအားဖြင့် ကြည့်ပါက OK ကို သုံးသည် ။

OK. Now. Now that my cat's working a little better,

ကဲ. အခု ငါ့ကြောင်လေး နည်းနည်း ပိုကောင်းလာလို့

but I was just saying an example sentence for 'look at'.

ဒါပေမယ့် 'ကြည့်တယ်' အတွက် ဥပမာဝါကျလေးပဲ ပြောတာပါ။

Hi long and I'll genies and wild, hi. Look, OK.

မင်္ဂလာပါကွာ ငါ genies and wild, hi. ကြည့်ပါ၊ အိုကေ။

Look at, focus on that rainbow, pay  attention to it.

ထိုသက်တံကို အာရုံပြု၍ ကြည့်ရှုလော့၊

OK, let's look at another example sentence.

အိုကေ၊ နောက်ထပ် ဥပမာဝါကျကို ကြည့်ရအောင်။

Look at my clothes.

ငါ့အဝတ်ကိုကြည့်။

I am directing your eyes towards something.

ငါမင်းရဲ့မျက်လုံးတွေကို တစ်ခုခုဆီ ဦးတည်နေတယ်။

I want you to look and focus and pay attention to my clothes. Aren't they nice?

ငါ့အဝတ်အစားတွေကို အာရုံစိုက်ပြီး အာရုံစိုက်စေချင်တယ်။ ချစ်စရာကောင်းတယ်မဟုတ်လား

Right. OK, And let's try another example sentence.

မှန်တယ်။ အိုကေ၊ ပြီးတော့ နောက်ထပ် ဥပမာဝါကျကို စမ်းကြည့်ရအောင်။

Ah, you'll notice here the verb look is used in the present continuous, looking.

ဩ၊ ဤနေရာတွင် ကြိယာသွင်ပြင်ကို ပစ္စုပ္ပန်အဆက်မပြတ် ရှာဖွေနေသည့်အတွက် သုံးသည်ကို သတိပြုမိပါလိမ့်မည်။

And look at the preposition. We're not using 'at' this time. We're using 'for'.

ဝိဘတ်ကို ကြည့်ပါ။ ဒီအချိန်မှာ ကျွန်တော်တို့ မသုံးပါဘူး။ ငါတို့က 'for' ကိုသုံးတယ်။

I'm looking for my car key. When we use 'look' and 'for' together,

ငါ့ကားသော့ကို ငါရှာနေတယ်။ 'look' နှင့် 'for' ကို တွဲသုံးသောအခါ၊

it becomes a verb that is more like search, to search.

ရှာဖွေရန်၊ ရှာဖွေရန် ပိုတူသော ကြိယာတစ်ခု ဖြစ်လာသည်။

So when I say I'm looking for my car key,

ဒါကြောင့် ကားသော့ရှာနေတယ် လို့ ပြောတဲ့အခါ

it's like saying, "I'm searching for my car key".

"ကားသော့ ရှာနေတယ်" လို့ ပြောတာနဲ့ တူပါတယ်။

I lost my car key. I can't find it. So I'm looking for it.

ကားသော့ ပျောက်သွားတယ်။ မတွေ့ဘူး။ အဲဒါကို ငါရှာနေတယ်။

I'm paying attention and trying to find it.

အာရုံစိုက်ပြီး ရှာဖို့ ကြိုးစားနေတယ်။

I hope you guys understood that. All right.

အဲဒါကို မင်းတို့ နားလည်မယ်လို့ မျှော်လင့်ပါတယ်။ ကောင်းပါပြီ။

OK, what about if I do this?

Did you see that?

အဲဒါကို မင်းမြင်လား။

Did you see that? OK. You didn't know I was going to hold things up right?

အဲဒါကို မင်းမြင်လား။ အိုကေတယ်နော်။ ငါအရာတွေကို ကိုင်ထားမယ်ဆိုတာ မင်းမသိဘူးလား။

But with your eyes, you were able to notice.

ဒါပေမယ့် မင်းမျက်လုံးတွေနဲ့ မင်း သတိထားမိနိုင်ခဲ့တယ်။

You didn't expect it, but you noticed it with your eyes.

မင်းမမျှော်လင့်ထားပေမယ့် မင်းမျက်လုံးတွေနဲ့ သတိထားမိတယ်။

Today you might have seen only a few times,

ဒီနေ့ မင်း အကြိမ်အနည်းငယ်သာ မြင်ဖူး

but you didn't know only my cat was going to come into the video, right?

ပေမယ့် ငါ့ကြောင်က ဗီဒီယိုထဲကို ဝင်လာတော့မယ်ဆိုတာ မင်းမသိဘူးလား။

But you saw him. OK.

ဒါပေမယ့် မင်း သူ့ကို မြင်တယ်။ အိုကေတယ်နော်။

Also see can be used to talk about meeting someone or kind of.

တစ်စုံတစ်ဦးနှင့် တွေ့ဆုံခြင်း သို့မဟုတ် တစ်မျိုးမျိုးအကြောင်း ပြောဆိုရန်လည်း သုံးနိုင်သည်။

Yes. Seeing some visiting someone.

ဟုတ်ကဲ့။ တစ်စုံတစ်ယောက်ဆီ အလည်လာဖြစ်တာ။

OK, so you might say today I will see my friend, Mary.

အိုကေ ဒါဆို ဒီနေ့ ငါ့သူငယ်ချင်း မေရီနဲ့ တွေ့မယ် လို့ မင်းပြောနိုင်တယ်။

OK. That's another way to use 'see'.

အိုကေတယ်နော်။ အဲဒါက 'ကြည့်' ကိုသုံးတဲ့ တခြားနည်းပါ။

Now let's look at some more example sentences

အခု နောက်ထပ် ဥပမာ စာကြောင်းတချို့ကို ကြည့်ရအောင်

OK, I see a spider.

၊ အိုကေ၊ ငါ ပင့်ကူကို တွေ့တယ်။

All right. So I didn't know that there was a spider in my room.

ကောင်းပါပြီ။ ဒါကြောင့် ငါ့အခန်းထဲမှာ ပင့်ကူတစ်ကောင်ရှိမှန်း ငါမသိခဲ့ဘူး။

OK, and I don't like spiders. I'm scared. I didn't know it was there.

အိုကေ၊ ငါ ပင့်ကူတွေကို မကြိုက်ဘူး။ ကျွန်တော်ကြောက်တယ်။ ဟိုမှာရှိမှန်း မသိဘူး။

It was unexpected. OK. But I saw it. My eyes saw the spider.

မထင်မှတ်ဘဲ။ အိုကေတယ်နော်။ ဒါပေမယ့် ငါမြင်တယ်။ ငါ့မျက်လုံးက ပင့်ကူကို မြင်တယ်။

My vision let me see the spider.

ငါ့အမြင်အာရုံက ပင့်ကူကို မြင်စေတယ်။

All right, let's move on to another example.

ကောင်းပြီ၊ အခြားဥပမာတစ်ခုသို့ ဆက်သွားကြပါစို့။

Did you see my car key? Did you see my car key?

ငါ့ကားသော့ကိုတွေ့လား ငါ့ကားသော့ကိုတွေ့လား

Remember earlier I lost my car key. Right?

ကားသော့ ပျောက်သွားတာ စောစောက သတိရတယ်။ ဟုတ်တယ်ဟုတ်?

So I was looking for it. I was searching for it.

အဲဒါကို ကျွန်တော် ရှာခဲ့တယ်။ လိုက်ရှာနေခဲ့တယ်။

OK. But maybe you saw it.

အိုကေတယ်နော်။ ဒါပေမယ့် မင်းမြင်ဖူးတယ်။

You didn't know it was lost. You didn't  expect to see it.

ပျောက်ဆုံးသွားသည်ကို သင်မသိခဲ့ပါ။ တွေ့ဖို့ မမျှော်လင့်ထားဘူး။

But maybe with your eyes, you saw it somewhere.

ဒါပေမယ့် မင်းမျက်လုံးနဲ့ တစ်နေရာရာမှာ မင်းမြင်ခဲ့တာဖြစ်နိုင်တယ်။

So I'm asking, did you notice? Did you see my car key?

ဒါနဲ့ မေးနေတာ သတိထားမိလား။ ငါ့ကားသော့ကိုတွေ့လား

OK. And another example. I saw my student cheating on my test.

အိုကေတယ်နော်။ နောက်ဥပမာ။ ငါ့ကျောင်းသားက ငါ့စာမေးပွဲကို လှည့်စားနေတာတွေ့တယ်။

I saw my student cheating on my test.

ငါ့ကျောင်းသားက ငါ့စာမေးပွဲကို လှည့်စားနေတာတွေ့တယ်။

I trust my students. I don't think they cheat.

ငါ့တပည့်တွေကို ငါယုံတယ်။ လှည့်စားတယ်လို့ မထင်ပါဘူး။

But maybe out of the corner of my eye,

ဒါပေမဲ့ ကျွန်တော့်မျက်လုံးထောင့်ကနေ

I saw my student looking at some notes or copying something.

တစ်ခုခုကို ကူးယူနေတဲ့ ကျွန်တော့်ကျောင်းသားက မှတ်စုတွေကို ကြည့်နေတာ မြင်လိုက်ရတယ်။

I didn't notice at first. I didn't know. I didn't expect it. And then I saw it.

အစကတော့ သတိမထားမိဘူး။ မသိဘူး ငါမမျှော်လင့်ထားဘူး။ ပြီးတော့ ငါမြင်တယ်။

And you'll see here that the verb 'see' is used in the past tense.

ပြီးတော့ ကြိယာ 'see' ကို past tense မှာသုံးတာကို ဒီမှာတွေ့ရမှာပါ။

So I used saw. OK. So, am I going too fast?

ဒါကြောင့် မြင်ဖူးတယ်။ အိုကေတယ်နော်။ ဒါဆို ငါက အရမ်းမြန်နေတာလား။

I hope it's working. And Daljeet says I'm so serious, I need to smile more. OK, so I'll try.

အလုပ်ဖြစ်မယ်လို့ မျှော်လင့်ပါတယ်။ ပြီးတော့ Daljeet က ငါအရမ်းလေးနက်တယ်၊ ငါပိုပြီးပြုံးဖို့လိုတယ်။ အိုကေ ဒါဆို ငါကြိုးစားကြည့်မယ်။

I was a little bit worried because there were some problems at the beginning,

အစပိုင်းမှာ ပြဿနာတချို့ရှိတာကြောင့် နည်းနည်းတော့ စိတ်ပူမိ

but I will try to smile more. And Armando, I'm good. How are you?

ပေမယ့် ပိုပြုံးနိုင်အောင် ကြိုးစားပါ့မယ်။ အာမန်ဒို၊ ငါကောင်းတယ်။ နေကောင်းလား?

အိုကေ၊ ငါဖြစ်နိုင်တဲ့ chats တွေမှာ နည်းနည်းနောက်ကျနေနိုင်တယ်။

So if I don't forget, if I don't say hi to you,  that doesn't mean I'm ignoring you. OK.

ဒါကြောင့် ငါမမေ့ရင် ငါ မင်းကို မနှုတ်ဆက်ရင် မင်းကို လျစ်လျူရှုတယ်လို့ မဆိုလိုပါဘူး။ အိုကေတယ်နော်။

now we move on to the verb 'watch'.

ယခု ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် ကြိယာ 'watch' သို့ ဆက်သွားပါမည်။

OK. When we watch something,

အိုကေတယ်နော်။ တစ်ခုခုကို ကြည့်နေတဲ့အခါ

we are paying attention to something  with our eyes.

တစ်ခုခုကို မျက်စိနဲ့ အာရုံစိုက်နေတယ်။

But for a longer time, OK. We're watching something happening.

ဒါပေမယ့် အချိန်ပိုကြာလာတော့ အိုကေတယ်။ တစ်ခုခုဖြစ်နေတာကို ကျွန်တော်တို့ စောင့်ကြည့်နေပါတယ်။

Usually there is some kind of action going on.

အများအားဖြင့်တော့ အရေးယူတာမျိုးတွေရှိတယ်။

OK. And we're watching the action happening for a little bit of a longer time

အိုကေတယ်နော်။ ပြီးတော့ တစ်ခုခုကို ကြည့်ရုံထက် အချိန်နည်းနည်းကြာအောင် ဖြစ်ပျက်နေတာကို ကျွန်တော်တို့ စောင့်ကြည့်နေပါတယ်

than just looking at something. OK. We're watching.

။ အိုကေတယ်နော်။ စောင့်ကြည့်နေတယ်။

We're paying attention with our eyes for a long time.

ငါတို့မျက်လုံးတွေကို အချိန်အတော်ကြာ အာရုံစိုက်နေတယ်။

We're seeing some action happen. So we use watch. OK. All right.

လုပ်ဆောင်ချက်အချို့ကို မြင်တွေ့နေရပါသည်။ ဒါကြောင့် လက်ပတ်နာရီကို သုံးပါတယ်။ အိုကေတယ်နော်။ ကောင်းပါပြီ။

So here's an example sentence. Let's watch TV.

ဒီတော့ နမူနာဝါကျတစ်ခုပါ။ တီဗီကြည့်ရအောင်။

We don't just, you know, look at the TV for a second and turn away.

ငါတို့က တီဗွီကို တစ်စက္ကန့်လောက်ကြည့်ရုံနဲ့ လှည့်ထွက်သွားတာမဟုတ်ဘူး။

Usually not. We sit and we watch things happening on the TV.

အများအားဖြင့်တော့ မဟုတ်ပါဘူး။ ငါတို့ ထိုင်ပြီး တီဗီမှာ ဖြစ်ပျက်နေတာကို ကြည့်တယ်။

And that's why we use the verb watch.

ထို့ကြောင့် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် ကြိယာနာရီကို သုံးသည်။

Let's look at another example. Sometimes I love to watch the sunset.

OK. Usually it takes a few minutes for the sun to set right for the sun to go down.

So we're watching the action happening. We watch the action happening.

We don't just look, we don't want to look at the sun directly

ငါတို့က မကြည့်ဘူး၊ နေကို တိုက်ရိုက် မကြည့်ချင်ဘူး

because that would be bad for our eyes.

ဆိုတော့ ငါတို့ မျက်စိအတွက် မကောင်းဘူး။

But we watch the sun gradually go  down.

OK. So in this example, we say, watch the sunset.

Here's an example where we use the past tense of watch.

ဤသည်မှာ နာရီ၏ past tense ကိုအသုံးပြုသည့် ဥပမာတစ်ခုဖြစ်သည်။

They watched the football match. Again, they watched the football match.

ဘောလုံးပွဲကြည့်ကြတယ်။ နောက်တခါ ဘောလုံးပွဲကြည့်တယ်။

A football match has a lot of action happening,

ဘောလုံးပွဲတစ်ပွဲဟာ လှုပ်ရှားဆောင်ရွက်မှုတွေ အများကြီးရှိပြီး

and it goes on for a long period of time.

So we use the verb watch.

They watched the football match.

They're paying attention with their eyes for a period of time.

Now you might see a sentence that looks like this. Let's go forward.

I watched a movie last night and I saw a movie last night.

Well, watch and see can actually be used.

ကောင်းပြီ၊ ကြည့်ရှုပြီး ကြည့်ရှု၍ အမှန်တကယ်အသုံးပြုနိုင်ပါသည်။

You know, you can use one or the other it's both correct.

When you're talking about watching a TV show,

Those are all types of shows you can watch. I mean, you can watch

and you can see the grammar rules for that one.

The English rules for the watch versus  see

နာရီနှင့်ကြည့်ခြင်းအတွက် အင်္ဂလိပ်စည်းမျဉ်းများသည်

are not so strict when it comes to those things.

So you can use either one and they will be correct.

All right. So here's the first example.

OK. Practice number one,

အိုကေတယ်နော်။ နံပါတ်တစ်၊

A, says, oh, I see a rainbow.

A က သက်တံကို မြင်တယ်လို့ လေ့ကျင့်ပါ။

Can you guys think about why did A, use the verb 'see'?

A က ဘာကြောင့် 'see' ဆိုတဲ့ ကြိယာကို သုံးတာလဲ စဉ်းစားလို့ ရမလား။

Well, A, use the verb 'see' because usually you don't know if there will be a rainbow.

အင်း၊ A၊ ကြိယာ 'မြင်' ကို သုံးပါ ဘာလို့လဲဆိုတော့ အများအားဖြင့် သက်တံရှိမလား။

Right. You don't expect a rainbow.

မှန်တယ်။ သက်တံကို မင်းမမျှော်လင့်ဘူး။

It's usually kind of a surprise, right?

အများအားဖြင့်တော့ အံ့အားသင့်စရာပဲ မဟုတ်လား။

Remember when we just don't expect it.

မမျှော်လင့်ထားတဲ့အချိန်ကို သတိရပါ။

But you notice something with your eyes with your vision, you use the verb, see?

ဒါပေမယ့် မင်းရဲ့အမြင်နဲ့ မင်းမျက်လုံးနဲ့ တစ်ခုခုကို သတိထားမိတယ်၊ မင်း ကြိယာကို သုံးတယ်၊ မြင်လား။

So. Oh, I see a rainbow, right? You're being  surprised. They might. They might point.

ဒါကြောင့်။ အိုး..သက်တံမြင်တယ်ဟုတ်လား။ မင်းက အံ့သြနေတယ်။ သူတို့လည်း ဖြစ်နိုင်တယ်။ ညွှန်ကြပေအံ့။

Oh, I see a rainbow. B, says where? Right. And A, says look over there.

သြော်..သက်တံကိုတွေ့တယ်။ B က ဘယ်မှာလဲ။ မှန်တယ်။ ပြီးတော့ A ကလည်း ဟိုမှာကြည့်၊

Why did A, use 'look'? In this case, A, use look

A ကို ဘာကြောင့် 'look' ကို သုံးတာလဲ။ ဤကိစ္စတွင် A သည် A

because A is directing B's eyes to pay attention to the rainbow over there.

သည် B ၏မျက်လုံးများကို ထိုနေရာတွင် သက်တံကိုအာရုံစိုက်ရန် ညွှန်ကြားနေသောကြောင့် Look ကိုသုံးပါ။

So, again, A might point and say, look over there to see the rainbow.

ဂိမ်းကို မြင်ဖူးလား။ TV သို့မဟုတ် ထိုကဲ့သို့သော ဂိမ်းတစ်ခုအား များသောအားဖြင့် သတိရပါ။

It's it's something that you can say see or watch.

မြင်နိုင်သည် သို့မဟုတ် စောင့်ကြည့်နိုင်သော အရာတစ်ခုဖြစ်သည်။

Right. So you could say, did you see the game or did you watch the game?

မှန်တယ်။ ဒီတော့ ဂိမ်းကို မြင်လား ဒါမှမဟုတ် ဂိမ်းကြည့်ခဲ့တာလား လို့ ပြောနိုင်ပါတယ်။

Both are OK. And B says, yes, I watched it last night.

နှစ်ခုလုံး အဆင် ပြေတယ်။ B က ဟုတ်တယ်၊ ငါ မနေ့ညက ကြည့်တယ်။

I watched it last night. You used the A, B, used the past tense here.

မနေ့ညက ကြည့်လိုက်တယ်။ A, B ကိုသုံးတယ်၊ ဒီမှာ past tense သုံးတယ်။

But again, you can see that any of those either of those are OK.

ဒါပေမယ့် အဲဒီထဲက တစ်ခုခု အဆင် ပြေတာကို သင်တွေ့ ရပါတယ်။

Did you see the game? Did you watch the game?

ဂိမ်းကို မြင်ဖူးလား။ ဂိမ်းကို ကြည့်ပြီးပြီလား။

Yes, I watched it last night. Or. Yes, I saw  it last night.

ဟုတ်တယ် မနေ့ညကကြည့်တယ်။ သို့မဟုတ်။ ဟုတ်တယ် မနေ့ညကတွေ့တယ်။

Either one of those are OK.

အဲဒီထဲက တစ်ခုပဲ ဖြစ်ဖြစ် အဆင်ပြေပါတယ်။

Practice question number three or practice example number three.

မေးခွန်းနံပါတ်သုံးကို လေ့ကျင့်ပါ သို့မဟုတ် နမူနာနံပါတ်သုံးကို လေ့ကျင့်ပါ။

A, says, Did you look for your car key?

A ကပြောတယ်၊ မင်းကားသော့ကိုရှာနေတာလား။

Did you look for your car key?

သင့်ကားသော့ကို ရှာနေပါသလား။

OK, so remember when we say 'look' and then the preposition 'for'

အိုကေ၊ ဒါဆို ငါတို့ ' look ' လို့ ပြောတဲ့အခါ မှတ်သားထားလိုက်ပါ ၊ ပြီးတော့ ဝိဘတ် 'for' က

it's like saying search for, right?

search for လို့ ပြောတာနဲ့တူတယ် မဟုတ်လား။

You lost your car key. Did you search for it? Did you look for it?

မင်းကားသော့ ပျောက်သွားတယ်။ မင်းအဲဒါကို ရှာခဲ့တာလား။ ရှာခဲ့သလား။

B says yes, but I couldn't see anything in the dark.

B က ဟုတ်တယ်၊ ဒါပေမယ့် အမှောင်ထဲမှာ ဘာမှ မတွေ့ဘူး။

I couldn't see anything in the dark.

အမှောင်ထဲမှာ ဘာမှမမြင်ရဘူး။

So with we have the ability to see right with our eyes.

ဒါကြောင့် မျက်စိနဲ့မြင်နိုင်တဲ့ အရည်အချင်းရှိတယ်။

Our eyes give us vision and sight.

ကျွန်ုပ်တို့၏မျက်လုံးများသည် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့အား အမြင်အာရုံကိုပေးသည်။

But in the dark, that's not true, right? We don't have the sense of seeing.

ဒါပေမယ့် အမှောင်ထဲမှာ၊ အဲဒါ မမှန်ဘူးလား။ ငါတို့မှာ မြင်နိုင်စွမ်းမရှိဘူး။

We can't see very well in the dark. We can't notice things in the dark with our eyes.

အမှောင်ထဲမှာ ကောင်းကောင်းမမြင်ရဘူး။ အမှောင်ထဲမှာရှိတဲ့ အရာတွေကို မျက်စိနဲ့ သတိမပြုမိနိုင်ပါဘူး။

So you might have to use your hands to touch things

you might have to use your ears to try to hear something.

အသုံးပြုပြီး အရာတွေကို ထိဖို့ သင့်လက်ကို အသုံးပြုရပါလိမ့်မယ်

But in this case, B says I couldn't see anything in the dark

because our vision doesn't work when it's dark.

OK. Practice number four. A says, how far can you see without glasses?

အိုကေတယ်နော်။ နံပါတ်လေးလေ့ကျင့်ပါ။ A ကပြောတယ်၊ မျက်မှန်မတပ်ရင် ဘယ်လောက်အကွာအဝေးကို မြင်နိုင်မလဲ။ တစ်ဖန်၊ ဤဥပမာတွင်၊

Again, in this example, we use the verb 'see'

A သည် B ၏အမြင်မည်သို့အလုပ်လုပ်သည်ကိုမေးသောကြောင့်

because A's asking how B's vision works.

Right. Can you do you have the ability to see things with your eyes

without your glasses? And B says, not very far.

Unfortunately, some of us need glasses and contact lenses and things like that

in order to use our eyes in order to see.

When B says, look, he is directing A's eyes in the fridge. The refrigerator. Right.

B က ကြည့်လိုက်တော့ A ရဲ့ မျက်လုံးတွေကို ရေခဲသေတ္တာထဲ ညွှန်ပြနေတယ်။ ရေခဲသေတ္တာ။ မှန်တယ်။

B is saying, pay attention. Or focus at what's inside the refrigerator.

B ပြောတာ သတိထား။ ဒါမှမဟုတ် ရေခဲသေတ္တာထဲမှာရှိတဲ့ အရာတွေကို အာရုံစိုက်ပါ။

Maybe you will find the milk.

နို့ကိုတွေ့လိမ့်မယ်။

You can also say, look for the milk in the fridge, right?

ရေခဲသေတ္တာထဲက နို့ကို ရှာကြည့်လို့လည်း ပြောလို့ရတယ် မဟုတ်လား။

Because look for means search for it. So that's OK as well. All right.

အဘယ်ကြောင့်ဆိုသော် look for ဆိုသည်မှာ ရှာဖွေခြင်းပင်ဖြစ်သည်။ ဒါဆိုလည်း OK ပေါ့။ ကောင်းပါပြီ။

with a type of show k something that goes on for a while.

That's another clue. Well, the correct answer is watched.

အဲဒါ နောက်ထပ်သဲလွန်စတစ်ခုပါ။ အင်း၊ အဖြေမှန်ကို ကြည့်ပြီးပါပြီ။

And here we use the past tense as well. We watched the fireworks.

Now, you will remember or hopefully you remember that for certain first shows
