Now the first one,

Ab sub se pehli cheez,

what am I talking about

Jisk bary main,main baat krun

if I talk about the birds and the bees?

So I might say something like,

It means sex education or sometimes just sex.

Iska matlab Sex ki taleem ya phir sirf sex murad ho skta hai.

I'm going to use it in a sentence for you.

I was going to jump off the cliff but I chickened out.

Main aik pahaar se chlang lgany ja rahi thi lakin phir irada mansooh kr diya.

You can't separate it.

It means, to decide not to do something

So I was going to jump off the cliff

but then I felt afraid so I didn't.

I chickened out.

The next one, I've got another phrasal verb for you

Aur an mere pas aik aur phrasal verb hy apk liye

and this is to clam up.

Aur ye hy "to clam up"

To clam up.

To clam up.

A clam is a shellfish, it's a type of seafood.

Clam basically machli ko kehty hyn jo k samundari giza hy.

And it means to stop talking quite suddenly and abruptly.

Isla mtlb hy k yakdam se chup ho jana aur koi jawab na dyna.

Now the next one,

Ab agla,

I can't remember if I've mentioned this in a video before.

Mujhy yaad nhi agr isk bary main mny pehly kisi video mn baat ki ho.

It means "Wait and be patient!

I remember my mom always used to say this to me,

Mukhy yaad hy meri mother hmesha aisa bolti thin

especially when it was snowing.

Khas kr k jb snow parti thi.

I always wanted to get outside,

Main hmesha baher jany ko utawli hoti thi,

go in the snow and she used to say,

K bahrr snow main jaun mgr wo esha bolti thin k ,

"If you're going out on the snow,

And I was too excited, I had ants in my pants.

I had to hold my horses and I had to wait and be patient.

Mujhy apny ghory ko lgam dalni hoti thi aur sabar krna prta tha,

The next one is to be in the dog house.

Aur agla hy to be in the dog house.

To be in the dog house.

To be in the dog house ka mtlb hy

So I might say, "My dad came back

Main ye bolun l ,mere father dair wapas aye

"very late from the pub last night

Pub se pichli raat

"and now he's in the dog house."

Aur ab wo dog house main hyn .

To be in the dog house means

To dog house mn hony ka mtlb hoga k

that you are in trouble with another person.

K aap k kisi dusry insan se msaail chal rahy hain

So my dad is in trouble with my mom.

To mere father museebat main hyn

My mom is not happy with my dad

Meri mother mery father se khush nhi hain

and she's put him, not literally, in the dog house.

Aur inhu ny father ko dog house main daal diya hy.(not literally)

Now the next one is such a useful one.

Agla idiom bht hi mufeed hy

I use it all the time.

Main hr waqt istemal krti hun.

It is to kill two birds with one stone.

Aur ye hy aik teer se do shikar (to kill two birds with one stone")

And you might be able to work out what it means actually.

Aur apko shyd andaza ho k iska kia mtlb hy.

And I'd love to know as well

it means that you are hearing it from the original source.

So if someone asks me, "Are you sure you're right

"about that piece of news?"

"Perticuler news se"?

I'll say, "I heard it straight from the horse's mouth.

Main bolungi k "i have heard it from the horse's mouth".

"They told me directly."

Mujhy unhun ny directly btaya.

And the last one is to smell a rat.

Aur akhri phrasal verb hy "to smell a eat"

"Hmm, I smell a rat here."

Hmm,mujhy choohun ki boo a rahi hy"

Now, I actually really like rats

Ab,mujhy choohy bht pasand hyn

and they're actually quite clean and shouldn't smell.

Aur wo such main bary hi saaf hoty hyn aur smelly nhi hoty.

But if you smell a rat,

Lakin agr apko chuhun ki boo aye ,

it means that you suspect trickery

To isla mtlb hy k kuch garh barh hy

or wrongdoing in a situation.

Aur kuch ghalat ki kahi

So if something is maybe too good to be true,

To agr apko kuch bht hi acha lag rha ho

like for example I've just had a Nigerian prince

Jaisa l mujhy aik Nigeria k shehzady ki call aye

tell me that I've won 20 million dollars

and all I have to do is send him my bank details.

My mom might say to me, "Lucy, I smell a rat.

"I think there's trickery going on here."

Yeah, so to smell a rat is to suspect trickery

Yeah,to smell a rat ka mtlb hy k apko kisi cheez py doubt hy

or malicious intent.
