but how do they sound? And what's the difference?

they're two different words. Let me tell you why.

Let's have a look at our two words in more detail.

두 단어를 더 자세히 살펴보겠습니다.

We have ‘live’ and ‘live’.

'라이브'와 '라이브'가 있습니다.

The spelling is the same but the  pronunciation and the meaning is different.

철자는 같지만 발음과 의미가 다릅니다.

It's a heteronym.

이종어입니다.

What's a heteronym?

이종어가 무엇인가요?

It's where you have two words,

철자가 동일한

where the spelling is the same,

두 단어가 있는 곳입니다

but the meanings and the  pronunciations are different.

. 하지만 의미와 발음은 다릅니다.

Let's have a look at the meaning and  the pronunciation of our two words. 

두 단어의 의미와 발음을 살펴보겠습니다.

I’ll start with ‘live’.

'라이브'부터 시작하겠습니다.

‘live’ is an adjective.

'살다'는 형용사입니다.

It means something that is happening right now.

지금 일어나고 있는 일을 의미합니다.

You can go and see it with your own eyes.

직접 가서 눈으로 확인하실 수 있습니다.

Like a broadcast or a concert.

방송이나 콘서트처럼 말이죠.

Here are two sentences to show you this.

이것을 보여주는 두 문장이 있습니다.

The first one,

첫 번째,

‘The live debate is happening right now.’

'지금 실시간 토론이 진행되고 있습니다.'

The live debate is happening right this second. 

실시간 토론이 지금 바로 진행되고 있습니다.

You can go and watch it. And number two.

가서 시청하시면 됩니다. 그리고 두 번째.

‘I like watching live streams on the internet.’

'나는 인터넷에서 라이브 스트림을 보는 것을 좋아합니다.'

I like watching people broadcast  themselves on the internet live  

나는 사람들이 지금 인터넷에서 생중계되는 모습을 보는 것을 좋아합니다

right now as it's happening. Let's practice pronunciation.

Our second word is ‘live’.

두 번째 단어는 '살다'입니다.

‘live’ is a verb.

'살다'는 동사입니다.

It means to make your home somewhere.

집을 어딘가에 마련한다는 뜻이다.

And I have two sentences to show you this.

그리고 이것을 보여드릴 두 문장이 있습니다.

‘I live in America.’

'나는 미국에 산다.'

It's where I live. The country where my home is. And sentence number two, 

내가 사는 곳이에요. 내 집이 있는 나라. 그리고 두 번째 문장은

‘They live across the street from me.’ I live here - my house. 

'그들은 내 길 건너편에 산다'입니다. 나는 여기 산다 - 내 집.

They live across the street. Their house is across the street from my house.

그들은 길 건너편에 산다. 그들의 집은 우리 집 길 건너편에 있어요.

Okay, let's practice pronunciation.

Now let's go back to our main sentence.
