In this video, we're going to talk about four things

I think we can all agree that learning English

and effort and dedication.

But the most successful language learners, they find

So the very first thing on my list is pronunciation.

ကဲ ခု ကျွန်မပြောမယ့် အချက်ထဲက ပထမဆုံးအချက်က အသံထွက် တစ်နည်းအားဖြင့် pronunciation

Yes you should be practising your pronunciation

ဟုတ်ပါတယ် သင်ဟာ သင့်ရဲ့အသံထွက်ကိုလေ့ကျင့်သင့်တယ်

every day.

And it's not to try and get rid of your accent

but to make it clear enough that others

but in the real world when you're using English to speak

with other people, your pronunciation, your fluency

when you speak, it's so incredibly important.

Get into the habit of learning and using the correct

pronunciation today because it's going to save you

I recommend that you learn the IPA,

the international phonetic alphabet.

After you've practised a lesson for a few times

make a recording of yourself

and compare it to my voice.

Try to identify some of the mistakes that you're making

Doing this every day will help your mouth muscles

to get working and creating English sounds

Listening to a podcast or an audiobook,

Read a book or a blog post, In fact,

စာအုပ်ဒါမှမဟုတ် ဘလော့်ကစာတွေကိုဖတ်ခြင်းတို့လုပ်ပေးနိုင်ပါတယ်

you probably want to mix this up during the week, right?

To keep things interesting.

time-consuming task but it's worth spending some time

It must be stuff that is interesting for you.

It shouldn't feel like you're doing English practice.

So I have two little recommendations here.

ဒါ့ကြောင့်ကျွန်မ အချက်နှစ်ချက်ကို အကြံပြုချင်ပါတယ်

Firstly, you need to find the time that you're going to

ပထမဦးဆုံး သင်သေချာလုပ်နိုင်မယ့်အချိန်ကိုရှာရပါမယ်

do it and declare it. That is your daily time

to absorb English so it could be on the bus

ဒါမှမဟုတ် မနက်စာစားရင်းနဲ့ဖြစ်စေ

on your way to work or while you're eating breakfast.

သင်ရဲ့နေ့စဉ်ဘဝမှာ မှတ်သားနိုင်ပါတယ်

I've always found that attaching an activity to the task

ကျွန်မကတော့ လေ့ကျင့်တာလေးတွေကို

helps you to make it part of your routine.

နေ့စဉ်လုပ်နေကြ အရာတွေမှာ တွဲပြီးလုပ်သွားခြင်းက လေ့ကျင့်တာကို ကျွန်မတို့ရဲ့ နေ့စဉ်လုပ်နေကြ အရာတွေလိုဖြစ်စေတယ်လို့ တွေ့ရှိရပါတယ်

And while you're doing it, just keep a notebook handy

အဲ့လိုလုပ်နေတဲ့ အတောအတွင်းမှာ သင်က အိတ်ဆောင်မှတ်စုစာအုပ်ထဲမှာ

so that you can write down expressions or new words

စာလုံးအသစ်တွေ ဖော်ပြချက်တွေကို

which you can look up and check later on.

Simple as that!

Writing every day has some amazing benefits.

စာကိုနေ့တိုင်းရေးခြင်းကလည်း အံ့သြဖွယ်ကောင်းအောင် အကျိုးကျေးဇူးတွေရပါတယ်

But before I talk about that I want to make it clear,

ဒါပေမယ့် ကျွန်မ မပြောခင် သေချာအောင်ရှင်းရှင်းလင်းလသ်းပြောပြချင်တာက

I'm not talking about writing an essay, okay?

ကျွန်မက စာစီစာကုံး ရေးဖို့ပြောတာမဟုတ်ပါဘူးနော်

I'm just talking about writing a few thoughts or a few

ကျွန်မပြောချင်တာက အတွေးအချို့

ideas down. It only has to take a few minutes

ဒါမှမဟုတ် အကြံအဉာဏ်အချို့ကို ချရေးခိုင်းတာပါ။ အဲ့ဒါက အချိန်အနည်းငယ်ပဲကြာတာပါ

and nobody ever has to see it.

ဘယ်သူမှဒါမျိုးမြင်ဖူးမှာမဟုတ်ဘူး

It's just for you. So there's a few reasons why writing

ဒါက သင့်အတွက်ပဲ။ နေ့တိုင်းစာရေးခြင်းက

every day is an excellent habit to get into.

အကောင်းဆုံးအကျင့်ဆိုတာကိုပြဖို့ အကြောင်းပြချက်လေးတွေရှိပါတယ်

It helps your vocabulary to stick.

Writing is one of the best ways to recall

new words and expressions that you've come across.

ပြန်မှတ်မိဖို့ အကောင်းဆုံးသောနည်းလမ်းဖြစ်ပါတယ်

When so many of my students have asked me

ကျွန်မရဲ့ကျောင်းသားတော်တော်များများက ကျွန်မကို

"What is the best way to remember vocabulary?"

စကားလုံးအသစ်တွေကို မှတ်မိဖို့ အကောင်းဆုံးနည်းလမ်းကဘာလဲလို့မေးတိုင်း

this is my recommendation.

ကျွန်မက ဒီနည်းလမ်းကိုပဲပြောပြတယ်

As you're reading or watching TV shows or books,

သင် စာဖတ်တဲ့အချိန် ဒါမှမဟုတ် တီဗီ ရှိုးတွေကြည့်တဲ့အခါ

you come across new ideas and words

အကြံဉာဏ်သစ်တွေ စကားလုံးသစ်တွေပေါ်လာတဲ့အခါ

and you write them down but

သင်ချရေးလိုက်ပါ ဒါပေမယ့်

then you start to use them yourself.

အဲ့နောက်မှာ သင်ဟာ စကားလုံးသစ်တွေကို အသုံးချဖို့တော့ လိုတယ်

You think of sentences and your own ideas about

သင်က စကားလုံးတွေကို

how to use these words.

စာကြောင်းတွေနဲ့ စိတ်ကူးတွေမှာ ဘယ်လိုအသုံးချရမလဲဆိုတာ စဉ်းစားသင့်တယ်

That way you're producing your own sentences

အဲ့ဒါက သင့်ကို သူများရဲ့ စာကြောင်းတွေကို နားထောင်တာထက် ကိုယ် ကိုယ်တိုင်စာကြောင်းတွေကို ရေးတာက

rather than just listening to other people's

ပိုပြီးတော့ သင့်ရဲ့စိတ်ထဲမှာ

and it helps it just stick in your mind.

စွဲထင်စေနိုင်ပါတယ်

And then you can improve it.

ပြီးတော့ သင်လည်းပိုပြီး တော့တိုးတက်လာနိုင်ပါတယ်

Once you've written something,

သင်တစ်ခုခုကိုရေးလိုက်တာနဲ့

you can do so much with it.

သင်ဟာ အများကြီးလုပ်ပြီးသွားသလိုမျိုးဖြစ်သွားပါတယ်

You can copy/paste it into a grammar checker

သင်ရေးထားတာကို Grammarly လိုမျိုး grammar checkerမှာ

like Grammarly to help you to identify some of the errors

copy/pasteလုပ်ပြီး အမှားတွေကို

that you're making.

ရှာနိုင်ပါတယ်

So Grammarly is free to use,

It helps you to see the mistakes that you're making

like maybe you're using the wrong preposition

you don't need to use an article when you've written one.

So I really recommend that you take a look to help you

see and realise the mistakes that you're making

သတိထားမိအောင် နဲ့ သိအောင်

and you can also review your own work.

လုပ်ဖို့အတွက် ဒီဟာကိုသုံးဖို့အကြံပြုပါတယ် အဲ့ဒါဆို သင်ရဲ့ အရေးအသားတွေကို မှားလားမှန်လားဆိုတာပြန်စစ်နိုင်မှာဖြစ်ပါတယ်

Once you've finished writing, leave it for a few days

သင်ဟာ စာတွေကိုရေးပြီးပြီဆိုရင် ရက်အနည်းငယ် ဒါမှမဟုတ် ရက်သတ္တပတ်အနည်းငယ်လောက်

or a few weeks, come back to it.

မကြည့်ဘဲပစ်ထားလိုက်ပါ ပြီးမှ ပြန်လာကြည့်ပါ

See if you can make any improvements

or if you can use a thesaurus

to look up synonyms and replace some of the words

with more advanced ones.

သင့်တော်တဲ့စကားလုံးတွေကိုအစားထိုးဖို့ ရှာကြည့်သင့်တယ်

These are just a few ideas but getting into a daily

ဒါကတကယ်တော့ အကြံဉာဏ်နည်းနည်းလေးဆိုပေမယ့် နေ့စဉ်စာရေးကျင့်ခြင်းက

writing practice creates so many opportunities for you

သင့်ကို သင်လေ့လာထား (သို့) သင်မြင်ဖူးတာ (သို့) သင်ကြုံဖူးတဲ့ အင်္ဂလိပ်စာကို

to apply what you've learned or what you've seen

အသုံးချဖို့အတွက် အခွင့်အရေးတွေကို

or what you've experienced in English

and then review it and improve it.

Lastly, join an English discussion

about stuff that interests you.

အင်္ဂလိပ်လိုဆွေးနွေးရင် သွားပြီးတော့ချိတ်ဆက်ဆွေးနွေးပါ

Now this sounds serious and may be complicated

ဒါကိုကြားလိုက်ရတော့ တကယ်ရှုပ်ထွေးပြီးခက်ခဲမယ်လို့ထင်ရပေမယ့်

but it's not, I promise. I'm just talking about joining an

တကယ်တော့အဲ့လိုမဟုတ်ဘူးဆိုတာ ကျွန်မ အာမခံပါတယ်။

active group or online community

ကျွန်မပြောချင်တာက အခုလှုပ်ရှားနေတဲ့ အဖွဲ့ (သို့) လူတွေအပြန်အလှန်တုံ့ပြန်မှုတွေပေးနေတဲ့

where there are people interacting.

အွန်လိုင်းအဖွဲ့အစည်းကို ဆိုလိုခြင်းဖြစ်ပါတယ်

They're sharing their ideas, they're giving opinions

သူတို့တွေက သူတို့ရဲ့အကြံဉာဏ်တွေကို ဝေမျှပြီး သူတို့ရဲ့ထင်မြငါချက်တွေကိုပေးနေတာပါ

and you're able to respond.

ပြီးတော့ သင်လည်း ပြန်ပြီးတော့တုံ့ပြန်နိုင်ပါတယ်

So you can comment and actually be part

ဒါကြောင့်မလို့ သင်က မှတ်ချက်တွေပေးနိုင်ပြီး

of the discussion as it happens.

အမှန်တကယ်ဆွေးနွေးပွဲမှာပါဝင်နေသလိုမျိုးခံစားရမှာပါ

Now this could be in person but it can easily

ခုဆိုရင် လူကိုယ်တိုင် ပါဝင်စရာမလိုတော့ပဲ

be as part of an online community.

အွန်လိုင်းကနေပြီးတော့ အဖွဲ့အစည်းထဲပါဝင်ဖို့ လွယ်ကူနေပါ ပြီ

Plus that makes it, you know, even easier to create

ထပ်ပြောရရင် အဲ့ဒါတွေကနေ့စဉ်အကျင့်တစ်ခုဖြစ်ဖို့အတွက်

a daily habit around it

ပိုပြီးလွယ်ကူအောင်ဖန်တီးပေးနိုင်ပါတယ်

because it's simply about checking in

ဘာဖြစ်လို့လဲဆိုတော့ သူများတွေဘာပြောလဲဆိုတာကို

and seeing what everyone else has been talking about

ရိုးရိုးရှင်းရှင်းနဲ့ ကြည့်နိုင် မြင်နိုင်တယ် ပြီးတော့

and giving your two cents worth.

သင့်အတွက်အခွင့်အရေးတွေလဲပေးနိုင်ပါတယ်

So how do you find these places?

ဒါဆိုရင် သင်ဘယ်လို ဒီနေရာတွေကိုရှာမလဲ

It takes a little work. You can't just Google 'cooking'

အဲ့ဒါက အလုပ်လေးနည်းနည်းပဲလုပ်ဖို့လိုတာပါ သင်ဟာ ဟင်းချက်တာကို googleကနေချက်လို့မရသလိုပါပဲ

and join the first group that you find.

ဒီတော့ ပထမဆုံးသင်ရှာတွေ့တဲ့ groupကိုအရင် joinလိုက်ပါ

Join a few different ones, see which one is the most

မတူညီတဲ့ groupတွေကို join လိုက်ရင်

active, which one has really interesting discussions

ဘယ်groupက လှုပ်ရှားမှုရှိတယ် ဘယ်တစ်ခုရဲ့ ဆွေးနွေးပွဲက

happening in it.

ဆွေးနွေးတာစိတ်ဝင်စားဖို့ကောင်းတယ်ဆိုတာကိုတွေ့နိုင်ပါတယ်

Sometimes nothing gets posted in these groups

တစ်ခါတစ်လေ တချို့groupတွေက post တင်တဲ့အခါ

for days and that's not really helpful for you, right?

ရက်တော်တော်ကြာကြာအောင် နေတဲ့အထိဘာမှမတင်တဲ့အဖွဲ့ကကြတော့ သင့်အတွက် အကူအညီ မဖြစ်စေဘူးမလား

So I would start by writing down

ဒါကြောင့် ကျွန်မက သင့်ရဲ့ ဝါသနာပါတဲ့ထိပ်ဆုံး၅ခုကို စပြီးရေးထားစေချင်ပါတယါ

your top five hobbies or interests.

ဒါမှမဟုတ်လည်း သင်စိတ်ဝင်စားတဲ့ အရာ ၅ခုပေါ့

Don't start with English language.

ဒါပေမယ့် အင်္ဂလိပ်ဘာသာစကားနဲ့တော့ မစပါနဲ့

What else are you into? Are you into

တခြားဘယ်ဟာမှာစိတ်ဝင်စားသေးလဲ။

politics or yoga or marketing,

သင်စိတ်ဝင်စားတာက နိုင်ငံရေးလား (သို့) ယောဂလား (သို့) စျေးကွက်ဖြန့်ချိရေးလား

photography, sports. I mean you probably already follow

ဓာတ်ပုံရိုက်တာလား၊ အားကစားလား။

people or a part of groups that are like this.

သင်က အရင်ကတည်းက သင်ကြိုက်တဲ့လူတွေ အဖွဲ့တွေကို followလုပ်ပြီးသားဖြစ်မှာပါ။ ကျွန်မဆိုလိုချင်တာက ဒီလိုမျိုးပါ။

So all you need to do is commit to checking in

ဒါကြောင့်သင်လုပ်ဖို့လိုတာက တစ်နေ့တစ်ခါ

once a day and write a comment.

check in နဲ့ commentလေးရေးဖို့ပါပဲ

It's not more complicated than that.

အဲ့ဒါက အရမ်းရှုပ်ထွေးနေတာမှမဟုတ်တာ

If someone shared something and they're asking

တစ်ယောက်ယောက်က တစ်ခုခုshare ထားတာတို့

for opinions, don't keep scrolling.

ထင်မြင်ချက်တွေမေးထားတာတို့ဆို မကျော်ပစ်ပါနဲ့

It's an opportunity for you to share so stop,

ဒါကသင်တို့အတွက် မျှဝေဖို့အခွင့်အရေးတစ်ခုပဲ ဒါကြောင့်

think of a way that you can contribute.

ရပ်လိုက်ပါ ပြီးရင် သင်ဘယ်လိုနည်းနဲ့ ပါဝင်ရေးသားနိုင်မလဲဆိုတာစဉ်းစားလိုက်ပါ

Now I'm gonna add some great, really active

and interesting groups in the description below

lively Facebook groups or other online communities.

What kinds of things do you discuss

ဘယ်အရာတွေကို သင်ဆွေးနွေးတယ်

and do you ever contribute?

ဘယ်နေရာမှာပါဝင်တယ်ဆိုတာပေါ့

So if you can bring those four things

ဒါကြောင့် ဒီအချက်လေးချက်ကို

into your daily routine in some way,

you will absolutely, without a doubt

improve your English.

Remember that it takes a little bit of time to create

good habits. It's not as simple as

deciding you're gonna do it.

So I've got a couple of extra tips to help you get started.

Do your research first.

Find a blog or a TV series that will keep you

interested so you don't have to look for something to do

Then create a regular schedule to help you get started

pronunciation practice might be in the bathroom

for five to ten minutes every morning

as you're getting ready for work.

ရေချိုးခန်းထဲမှာ ၅မိနစ် ၁၀မိနစ်လောက် ဖြစ်ရင်လည်းဖြစ်နိုင်တယ်

Then listening to your favourite podcast

သင်ကြိုက်တဲ့အသံဖိုင်ကို သင်အလုပ်သွားတဲ့လမ်းမှာ

on your way to work and you're writing down

သွားရင်းနဲ့နားထောင်နိုင်သလို ပြီးရင် ဘတ်စ်ကားပေါ်မှာမှာလည်း

your words on the bus.

စကားလုံးတွေကိုချရေးနိုင်ပါတယ်

On your lunch break, might be the time to check a

နေ့လည်စာစားချိန်မှာလည်း သင့်ရဲ့ facebook group ကို စစ်တာဖြစ်ဖြစ်

Facebook group and write a group comment.

အဖွဲ့မှာ commentရေးရင်လဲရေးဖြစ်မှာပေါ့

Then spend ten minutes at the end of your day

ပြီးရင် နေ့တစ်နေ့တာရဲ့ဆုံးမှာ ၁၀မိနစ်လောက်

writing about what you did

သင်ဒီနေ့ဘာလုပ်ခဲ့တယ်ဆိုတာချရေးပါ (သို့)

or what you learnt before dinner

သင်ဘာတွေသင်လဲဆိုတာကို ညနေစာမစားခင်မှာချရေးပါ

and simply put that on repeat.

ပြီးရင်ရိုးရိုးရှင်းရှင်းပဲ ထည့်ရေးပါ

Very quickly you'll realise that English has become

အချိန်မြန်မြန်နဲ့ပဲ သင်ရဲ့ အင်္ဂလိပ်စာဟာ

a regular daily part of your routine.

သင့်ရဲ့နေ့စဉ် လုပ်ရိုးလုပ်စဉ်လိုဖြစ်လာလိမ့်မယ်
